Is Peterman as Good as Gone?
Livinginthepast replied to The Real Buffalo Joe's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Then SuperSub Nate comes in! Now if Nate gets hurt tackling one of the defenders on an interception that is when the fun really will begin!! Daboll will come out of the booth and finally show us how his offense is executed properly -
Derek Anderson to start vs Colts
Livinginthepast replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Why haven't they traded for another QB just in case? Is there any Qbs on the practice squad? You are severely tempting fate with a 35 year old and this terrible O line. Anderson might get killed on Sunday and well "golly" who is the backup?? -
NFL worried about Chargers viability in LA
Livinginthepast replied to Reed83HOF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Singing Los Angeles SUPERCHARGERS just doesn't work. Chargers not viable in LA?? And just to make it more stupid they have built a 2.6BILLION stadium!! -
If we March Peterman out there again...I will....

I will swim naked in the shark tank of Ripleys!! Oh wait its been done! -
He was pretty good for the Jets in the preseason if you can really reach a conclusion from the stats. Some Jets fans were not happy with the trade. As for your observation about the Jets trading him to the Bills or not doing so. You would think that might be the case that they wouldn't trade to a division rival but I would like to know if the Bills even inquired (which they should have). How in the hell did the Saints get him? Were the Jets shopping him around? Why wasn't Beane at least on the phone scrambling around trying to get another viable QB option? They had already seen Bridgewater perform better than McCarron in the preseason. Perhaps Beane should have been signing Bridgewater in March to try out right after they traded TT? I just don't understand the logic of going into the season with 2 unproven QBs when there were so many other options available that could be had on the cheap! Total mismanagement!
-
The Jets traded Bridgewater on Aug 29th to the Saints who really didn't need a QB. But the Saints were smart enough to have a bargain and competent plan B. The Bills on the other hand signed a completely unproven QB in McCarron who disappointed in the preseason and was injured. Then traded McCarron on September 1st when they had an epiphany that McCarron sucked. Bizarrely they went into the season with 2 QBS who were completely unproven and the predictable results happened. They had to know that McCarron was a bust by at least the last week of August and a good GM should have begun a desperate search at point to secure a competent QB as a starter or backup or mentor to Allen. They could have had Bridgewater for a 3rd round pick but they completely bungled any attempt to rescue themselves from this salvageable situation and went steaming full speed into the season with 2 qbs. 6 weeks later the Bills find themselves in a dire situation of their own making.

How much blame does Daboll deserve?
Livinginthepast replied to RosenNOTchosen1's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes the lack of talent is huge on this team but that should be clearly obvious to all concerned. The coaches game plan should be adjusted to who is on the field and not vice versa. In the Minni game the offense executed things really well but all the other games it looked like Daboll tried things which were too complicated for Allen and Peterman to orchestrate. Unfortunately like so many NFL coaches Daboll is a little slow to change or simply wont adjust the game plan if things are failing. Its like these coaches are playing an old school electric football game from the 70s. Just point the players in the right direction and hope for the best. -
I agree, let him sit and dare I say learn (if that is possible) from Anderson. Or perhaps he can learn how NOT to play from watching the inevitable upcoming starts of Nate Peterman. One other benefit of sitting with this horrendous turnstile offensive line is that at least Allen reduces his chances of a devastating injury. Finally I did observe Allen looking kind of angry when he was on the sideline after his injury. Almost like it was killing him that Peterman was in and he was not in charge of the offense. That to me is a good sign. We need that kind of hard lesson to motivate Allen for when he does come back. He has to be better!

Peter King is right the whole Peterman vs TT debacle last year was lunacy. Peterman simply wasn't ready to play esp not vs the Chargers last year. The fact that Peterman "won" the QB competition vs Allen based on useless preseason performance is lunacy. The fact that they did not have a veteran mentor for Allen is lunacy. The fact that they even trusted Peterman to be a backup to Allen or anyone is lunacy. The fact that they thought they would be fine with THIS Horrible oline , a raw rookie QB backed up by a QB who performed that horribly is lunacy. I just cannot understand how Beane and McD can even try to justify this mismanagement. At the very least they have to man up and admit they have completely sh*t the bed on this entire QB file. I just wonder how Pegula feels as he watches this slow moving train wreck???
-
The easy answer is that the preseason has become entirely irrelevant as a means of evaluating talent. Teams are now benching their starters for whole games or not even dressing them at all. Peterman does great when he is picking apart rookie defenses or practice squad defenses. Not so much vs savvy vets in real games.

If he played for the Panthers he would already be here and starting Sunday.

Having been a Bills fan for this long I should not be surprised about this absurd situation the organization finds itself in but yet when they brought in these guys last year I really thought they had a turned a corner. Finally a competent coach and a solid GM who will wisely guide this team for the next decade. Then came the Chargers game last year. I had serious doubts after that about Beane and McD's ability to evaluate talent and their lack of a plan B and even their sanity. The only thing that slightly evened out my doubts was breaking the drought and getting into the playoffs. Everything that has happened this year just gets me right back to the way I felt after the Chargers game. I have lost all faith in Beane and McD to actually figure anything out going forward. They bungled the McCarron situation, they still have Peterman on the team (for no sane reason). They completely failed to provide a mentor to Allen. They are playing Allen with a terrible O Line (which was likely to get him hurt and surprise, it did), they have given him no weapons to help on offense. Then they bring in an old journeyman QB Anderson to do what exactly? Play? not play? Mentor Allen? and their excuse for Peterman still being on the team after his horrendous career here? Well Nate knows the offense, Nate's a good Christian boy? Seriously??? That is it?? A situation that is so unbelievably preposterous that could only happen here (or perhaps in Cleveland). Just shaking my head.

Who said that?? where was that reported? If Daboll allowed Peterman to change the play he should be fired. If he didn't understand that Peterman could not (and should never) throw that pass and still called that play (he should be fired) . If Peterman went rogue and changed the playcall which I find highly unlikely , he should be cut ASAP. Actually Peterman needs to be cut no matter who called that play.

"How much you wanna make a bet I can throw a football over them mountains?... Yeah... Coach woulda put me in fourth quarter, we would've been state champions. No doubt. No doubt in my mind."

Allen looked very good today
Livinginthepast replied to BuffaloBud420's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He may yet be a bust but looking at Brady last night, a mediocre college career proves absolutely nothing for the NFL. -
Yes, actually you completely missed the point. Any big team with a well known QB never gets treated like that. Brady, Brees , Big Ben, Rogers even Mahomes would totally get that late hit call but not the Bills. Which was the POINT. Thanks for the advice about watching other teams than the Bills which I already do and thanks for your stunning insight that there is questionable/crappy officiating in every game. Look at my original post and see the following sentence "The refs are inept league wide". I guess that wasn't clear enough. I never mentioned any conspiracy against the Bills so not sure why I need a "Tin foil" beanie. Don't think its whining for the Bills to call out the refs for not doing their job publicly. It makes sense because whatever the Bills are doing now (or not doing) isnt changing anything in the league office.

Allen not showing progress
Livinginthepast replied to PayDaBill$'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't think Allen was that bad today. I am actually really pissed off though that the inevitable injury happened to him because of the complete negligence of Beane to get some quality protection in the offensive line. Todays injury resulted from the pocket collapsing yet again. Which seems to happen 2 or 3 /4 downs for the Bills Even if their plan was to not play Allen this season, they had to know that whoever was the QB would get murdered behind this line. So why in the hell did they not draft or bring in any FA Olineman?? -
Biggest re-do of the offseason
Livinginthepast replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I have no idea what Peterman has done to earn the adoration of Beane and McD. Is it simply the holy roller Christian connection? Other than that Bridgewater would have made a lot of sense or Matt moore, even Ryan Fitzpatrick. The fact that they seemed to ignore alternatives to Peterman for a backup or even to ignore mentor qbs for Allen is insane. -
So the Bills just lost their starting "franchise" QB on late and illegal hit and there was absolutely no call from the officials on the play. and your response is that the Bills organization should say nothing about this? and fans should not be justifiably outraged?? because its "whining". That's pure brilliance. In addition, you've also completely missed the OP's point about the refs disrespect towards the Bills which is proven by the aforementioned illegal hit.
-
Actually the OP has a good point and it isn't the obvious "refs cost us the game" Bills fan whine. The OP is correct in stating that the Bills are completely disrespected by the officials week in week out and yet our coaches and GM and owner say nothing. The refs are inept league wide, the standard of officiating has tumbled drastically as the league has grown but one thing has stayed consistent for years. Which is the refs don't dare call garbage or miss blatant calls on the "big league" teams. The Bills on the other hand are never given the benefit of the doubt. The late and illegal double hit on Allen today showcases this disrespect. Why on earth after 6 weeks of over protecting the star QBs would they not have called the Texans for a late hit and/or a leading with the helmet hit on the Texans players?? Because they are not very good at their jobs and they have nothing to worry about if they make a mistake, after all its just lowly Buffalo. The Bills as an organization have to man up and stand up for their players. The NFL needs to be held accountable for their inept officials and maybe, just maybe if we hollered enough about the officials instead of meekly standing aside as they regularly screw up, we might actually make them think twice about some of the garbage or phantom calls or even the non calls. The way we are just tolerating this BS right now is completely unacceptable.
-
holy crap, the stupidity about Peterman needs to end with him being cut on Monday. The fact that the Beane and McD thought after the Chargers game that he could ever recover and be viable as a QB going forward is literally evidence exhibit A for both Beane and McD to be fired as well. Are they seriously trying to tell us that there are no other QBs available that are better than Peterman? That there is no availability at this position ? You thought that Allen wasn't ready for the NFL, that's fine but Peterman is your only PLAN B? and you trade McCarron?? where was the 3rd QB option before Anderson? completely insane management!!
-
I loved how the refs were paying acute attention to our formations and calling those huge penalties for the most innocuous error of position. Yet the idiot officials somehow miss a double late hit on Josh Allen with one Texan player leading his helmet into Allen's chest and another smacking high in his raised arm which is so hard that causes him injury. Even after all their ridiculous over protections for other QBs around the league in previous games!!!
