Why are we so bad covering the TE?
Livinginthepast replied to Ramza86's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I thought that LA did a decent job containing Seattles TEs. Stats though showed DK Metcalf was targeted 11X but caught 5. He still had 2 tds and 96 yards! You cannot stop a lot of these big TEs but if you can contain when it counts you can mitigate the bleeding! -
Why are we so bad covering the TE?

What pissed me off was that they were exploiting our weakness here throughout the game and we didn't adjust. There is not much point in a defensive coordinator being on the sidelines if he cant understand quickly what is happening in the game and change the schemes. I could understand if the catches werent hurting us but many of the TE grabs were killing us! -
Is everyone underestimating the Chiefs?
Livinginthepast replied to BITE ME's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
As much as Reid gets accolades for his "magic"coaching, I still think he is the weak link. Not in game prep but in heat of the moment decisions. Mahomes has bailed Reid out of so many games. If we can hang with them and do what the Pats did two years ago we can win against them. But lets not get ahead of ourselves, the Ravens is going to be a tough game! -
If this is the last of Big Ben, its a weird last game. Almost 500 yards in a game but 4 picks? Overall as a player he is HOF, but as a man he never really shook that taint of the multiple rape charges or the utter stupidity of riding around and crashing helmetless on his motorcycle. Just seems like an unlikeable character.

Watching this playoff game I am reminded that a team getting up by 4 TDs and then taking a foot off the gas is pretty normal. The opposite where a team never lets up and pummels a team into the ground is rarer. My favourite instance of that? The Bills utterly destroying the LA RAiders 51-3 in 1991. That was a sweet destruction!!

Washington could pull an upset if they can get more pressure on Brady. Their offense has been pretty good considering. -

No holding whatsoever!! I love when these overzealous officials feel the need to make their mark on the game with a phantom call! -
Credit to Leslie Frazier on that final possession
Livinginthepast replied to Simon's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It was a poor performance by the D overall. I am not sure if Frazier can be faulted for missed coverages and sloppy amateur tackling or for a complete failure at Pass rush. I will say that Frazier and McD need to come up with some quicker and better adjustments when the pass rush is that bad. Rivers had all day to throw and considering how old he is, looked about 10 years younger! -
The Seahawks looked totally out of sync today. The outstanding pick 6 play was a game changer. I was really hoping for one of our Dbs to jump a route like that on one of Rivers noodle arm passes but we were nowhere near!

The colts fumble that was not called

Overall the refs today were mediocre. but that was before the garbage fumble decision at the end. That unfortunately pushed them into a crap rating. They confirmed some good replay calls but they did miss 2 facemasks on Bills players and at least 3 delay of games on Rivers (that were quite clear). One good thing is they didn't call any BS holding penalties or any blind side blocks. But our standards are so low when it comes to the NFL officials that even mostly poor performances by these officials are now held up as acceptable. -
The colts fumble that was not called

I think they gave it back because the officials in the booth/ NYC realized that they had made a major mistake by not instantly reviewing it and telling the officials to blow it dead. There was several seconds for them to review it and its the replay officials upstairs that have to intervene and tell the refs to stop everything. They waited until the very last second? to blow it dead simultaneously with the time out call by McD that is beyond incompetent. Then they double down on their ineptness by not overturning the no fumble call. Totally inexcusable! I bet those idiots were breathing a sigh of relief that the Bills won after taking a longer look at it! -
The colts fumble that was not called

No the officials were going to let the Colts run a play until McD called a TO. The idiots in the replay booth realized at that time there might have been a legit fumble and then reviewed it. If Mcd doesnt do that the Colts run a play and there is no review. Thats how insanely incompetent the booth crew were in this game! -

The initial call should have been a fumble an a recovery by the Bills. There was no whistle so WTF why would they call it down by contact? After the initial blown call the play should have been whistled dead by the officials to get a good look for sure but this incompetent crew didn't do that. Thats when McD had to do their job for them!! So thats two huge mistakes right off the bat. Then the ref takes forever to make a decision. What is the point of Riveron (or whoever) in NYC ? does he make the final call or does the ref. You could clearly see that the receiver was not touched with his knee down and it was a fumble. The NFL is the only sports league that gets it wrong routinely after a clear replay shows what happened. Its also the only league where instead of officiating improving in the playoffs, its possibly worse!! -
Playoff Game Postgame Thread

Defense had their worst game of the season. Offense overall was good except for that clusterfk fumble at the end. The Officials were mediocre to poor especially for a playoff crew but that replay call at the end was absolutely outrageous. -
