  1. Probably right of first refusal. He’s played well enough to keep around but not well enough to get a big contract IMO. I think with a normal cap, you could place a 1st or 2nd round tender, but I don’t think he gets $4M in 2021. In that situation I might put a 2nd on him. I don’t think $3.4M is a totally outlandish value in most years. But in 2021, I am not sure many, if any, teams come and try and offer that. Unsure though, that cost is still pretty low for decent CB depth, and this FA feels like it might be the haves vs. the have nots. Over the cap has Wallace valued at about 2.3M, which is about the value of right of refusal designation of $2.1M.
  2. I thought he was an RFA, so I sort of kicked the fan down the road on that.
  3. Agreed. A huge portion of a jump going forward will be the TV deals, which are reportedly making a leap. Plus stadium revenue. I would have to dig it up, but the editor of Spotrac was quoted saying he thought the cap could jump to something like $220M in 2022. Right now the site is a little more conservative, projecting $209M. That puts the Bills cap at about $33M. If it goes to $220M the Bills have $44M in space. I should note, these are all pre-Mongo numbers. I aired on the high side, but still within the range. Just looking at the FA list, I think this is a much harder year for us than next year. Basically Philips, Wallace, Edmunds, and Allen. I don’t think Phillips and Wallace command much money. Edmunds is still a ??? for me in regards to what his contract value is/will be, especially given the value of Milano’s new contract. I can’t imagine dumping $25M per year into the production we go in 2020.
  4. We could be looking at a salary cap increase next year of 30+ mil. If anything, I take that opportunity to front load a deal for Allen so you can keep stocking talent as our starters age out of current contracts. I think the Bills should have $40-ish mil in space next year.
  5. I mean your reason is/write up was Jenkins because you think he projects well at RT in this offense. The Bills just signed their starting RT to a 3 year deal. Had you said, “he can play OG or OT, the Bills have concerns at both depending on how they manage FA. Jenkins fills a couple needs” you would have been much closer.
  6. I think Pat McAfee came into the league as an UDFA place kicker. Then learned to punt since he could boom it. Then later was asked to learn to directional punt rather than crank it.
  7. I could be wrong, but I think that is illegal. Not only should Brown fire him, Brown could sue him.
  8. If only there was a thread dedicated to this very subject....
  9. Right, it’s a gator in Florida, I just assume it’s like deer season up here. It’s necassary to thin the herd a bit so they don’t over populate. The only thing I’ll say is, I hope he cleans and eats it. I have no issues with hunting to put food on your table. I hate hunting for the sake of getting ahead mounted on your mantle, and the rest goes to waste. On a similar note, Old Forge has had bear issues on and off over the years. Especially in the years after they closed down the dumps. Anytime a bear broke into a car, there’d be a push for rangers to come and track and kill it. We had a place up there for years, and still head up regularly to camp. The solution to bears breaking into your car, or camp, or hurting your dog, is to not go and hang out in the bears home. It should be an assumed risk. For years there was a bear that would eat out of a dumpster at a bar on 4th lake, then swim across to Alger Island, do a lap around the sites, and then swim back. Things are getting tough up there for bears. I was hiking a few years ago, and a guy out his pack down to go grab some water. A very skinny mom and cubs popped out and tore it up about 20 feet away from us. We were on a trail and had no idea they were near by. Black bears almost always keep their distance unless they are in a world of hurt for food.
  10. I think we sort of just hold our collective breaths that he stays healthy. If he does, it’s a great signing. If he doesn’t, I would think we hate this deal in 2022 because we’re stuck with it; but there may be an out in 2023. Just my guess.
  11. I actually think this puts a target on Edmunds back to a certain extent. We haven’t gotten great play out of or LB’s as unit and largely run in a 2 LB set. I’ve seen estimates of Edmunds getting $14-ish mil. I cannot see this team paying $25M per year for the LB performance we got in 2020. Edmunds will have to make a jump or take a contract significantly cheaper than $14M per year to stay.
  12. I was a bit apprehensive of the Brown cut without trying to restructure. But it makes way more sense now. Brown never would have taken a pay cut to move enough money to Milano. As long as he stays healthy I am pumped.
  13. This is where I am at the moment. If you drop him, you also have to replace him. We already have an issue with pass rusher, Hughes is by far our most productive PR. This is not one of those cases with addition by subtraction. Keep him around, get some help on the other side, and lets go to work.
  14. I am curious as to why they did not reach out to him for a pay cut. Per the above, he said he was sort of blindsided. If it was a pure salary cap move, I would assume the FO would have tried to restructure. I am not sure, but some food for thought.
  15. Not that it is a huge deal, but I don't get letting Bojo walk. In the grand scheme of things, punters and kickers are fairly cheap. They don't provide a huge amount of savings by letting them walk. He was an asset last year, just keep the kid around for a couple 100k more.
  16. I am surprised that this thread made it to 5 pages. Gronk has said 100 times he won't play with anybody but Brady. He was never coming to Buffalo, he will play with TB or he will retire. I cannot say I blame him. He does not need the money. He doesn't need a ring, he already has a few. Brady is one of his best friends and the GOAT, there is no reason for him to try anything else.
  17. I’m actually not thrilled with the cap at the moment. I say that just taking spotrac at where they are now, $15M. We are bottom half of the league in cap space at that number, we just cut our reasonably priced and productive (pre-injury) WR2 and cannot afford to keep our OG1, RT1, and OLB1. Oh yeah, our QB is also on a rookie contract. We also have some other holes to fill, plus figure out replacements for who we are losing. I think our current space plus getting largely “meh” production out of Beanes top 100 picks in Edmunds, Oliver, Epeneza, Moss, Singletary, Ford, and Knox, may bite us in the arse.
  18. What a bummer my friend. Hope you feel better soon as we push towards the 2021 season. I hear ya. I have been hunting down some health issues for months while also losing mobility. It is rough. I joked with my significant other today, if we can get through this without any major lifetime mishap, I already have a bunch of specialists, so if something were to go wrong (again?) down the line, I don't need to wait a few months to get another appointment. My best friends MIL went to the hospital with chest pains at Christmas, she had a blood clot in her lungs, luckily on the right side and not urgently life threatening, and she still has not had an appointment with her cardiologist because she is a "new patient". I have had similar issues with getting appointments. Also, the NFL should sell a Fitz bundle with all of his jerseys. I could be convinced to waste more money
  19. He is mentally ill, not necessarily mentally weak. It’s not a free pass for being a POS, nor do I really want him here. But this is an important distinction to make.
  20. Ive been having this conversation since football is over and the sabres blow. This is kinda how I feel about Eichel. He’s great, but the Sabres need him to be Ovechkin. But that’s not him.
  21. The lack of respect for Dwayne Haskins is down right disrespectful. 😂
  22. It’s a lot more money it sounds like. 30% increase from Disney, and 2x from the networks for Sunday games. It seems the only thing left up in the air is the value of the Amazon deal and what happens with any sort of subscription, ie. Sunday Ticket. There shouldn’t be any issue with the cap making a large jump.
  23. Not all heroes wear capes.
  24. Why do you have to disrespect Melvin Fowler and Peerless Price like that?
