  1. Of course we're pervs. So are women. Yet men are somehow excused from it. We're taught it's ok to act out of control, and to be total dogs. Women, on the other hand, are taught to be well behaved, reserved, and defensive. It'd be nice to just teach everyone respect, instead.
  2. This is just my opinion, but personally I'll deal with the relatively minor fees, over the hassle of traveler's checks and bringing a bunch of cash/converting it. As far as money belt and being targeted. If you're in a first world country, just live like you normally do in any US city. Keep your wallet, passport, and phone in your front pockets. Money belts are silly. If you carry a bag, make it a bag that's relatively annoying to get into. You'll be fine. One thing to do, though, give a friend, or family member, a photocopy of your passport, and it's also not a bad idea to have a folded up copy in some small pocket of something. Just in case you lose your passport, it'll make life easier when/if you have to go to the US Consulate.
  3. That's my view as well. AFAIK, the whole mandate idea was an old conservative one (as a response to previous attempts to redo the healthcare system), but I guess they dropped support of it sometime in recent years.
  4. Hmmmmmaybe!
  5. Trillions of taxpayer dollars on the ACA? Cite? This is news to me. If it is indeed trillions, then we are REALLY dumb for not going to a universal system.
  6. The current storyline in the comics is SUPER intense. And frankly, I'm really curious how they are going to go down this road in the show. It'll be expensive if they do it. The issue I just read (#124) is leaving me hanging. I need the next issue (and the one after that) to come out... like right now.
  7. I hope we trade back if a bunch of QBs are taken in the top 8.
  8. Personally, I think the location of the Ralph is a bigger issue than the quality of the stadium. But then again, I'm a pretty low maintenance fan.
  9. I've been a handful of times. Sooooo here's my input: - Use credit (never debit) for as much as possible. This is actually a general piece of advice. Basically if your plastic card gets stolen, hacked, the number lifted, whatever... a credit company is much more capable of reversing charges, so that you are protected. Debit cards, however, are directly connected to your checking/cash... and when that money is gone, it's often gone, unless you happen to get some really good customer service. Before you go, make sure to call your bank(s) and let them know you are traveling. So they don't shut your card(s) down while out of country. - Cash - always have at least some cash with you, as not everywhere takes credit. If you're in a city, you'll have access to plenty of ATMs. Contact your bank before going, to see if they have partner banks. Bank of America, for example has Barclays in the UK. So you won't get charged extra fees when getting cash out. - Cellphone - that will vary from user to user. I keep an old unlocked iPhone around for when I travel out of the country. Most countries have pay as you go SIM cards for data and voice. I search for the best network coverage of the country I go to before I go, and hit up a shop when I get into the airport. - Tablet - handy devices, lighter than laptops. Very recommended. - Electricity - buy some adapters on Amazon. There's small ones for smaller devices that don't need conversion. For things like blowdryers, you'll generally want to get the heavier duty converters. But I don't have any experience. Someone else could probably speak on this topic more. But I basically just get basic converters for the things I bring. - If you're in a major city, forget the car. Public transportation in Europe is awesome. Not to mention, most places are incredibly pedestrian friendly. Getting between cities? Trains/planes are dirt cheap. If you're wanting to go outside of cities, though, either take a bus tour, or rent a car. - I don't have much opinion on food... I eat like a college student when I travel. All grease, all the time. I'd pack vitamins, though, and make sure to get at least one healthy snack a day, just to keep yourself from feeling too crappy. - Weather won't be an issue if you're used to Buffalo weather. The British Isles are generally overcast and damp. Doesn't get too hot, and storms aren't usually too extreme. --- I know you aren't asking for sight seeing suggestions, but if you care at all about seeing beautiful scenery, I very strongly suggest getting outside of the cities and into the country side. The northwest of Scotland, for example, is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. There's similar scenery in Ireland and England, though as well. Also important to remember. The UK - England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland, all use the sterling pound. Ireland, uses the Euro.
  10. ~900k new 'customers', plus all the sub 26 year olds on their parents plans still makes for more people in this country having health insurance. Not at all perfect. But better than nothing. I still think we should be switching over to a single payer/universal system, at the very least as base coverage. Wonder if we'll see the next president/congress overturn the ACA, or if it will evolve into something like http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_National_Health_Care_Act
  11. Why don't they teach other students to respect their peers, no matter what they wear? I've always been confused by the idea that we teach girls/women that they have to wear loose, baggy, or whatever clothing, because if they don't, they'll distract their male counterparts. All this does is reinforce the idea that boys/men are animals that cannot be controlled. Tights/spandex aren't exactly new. I remember much of it being worn in the 80s/90s, heh.
  12. As much as she may have been going slower than I would have liked. She does pass a couple people in the video, so I wouldn't really be caring too much. Dude tails her, then swerves to go around her. If she wasn't taping, or if it was me in that situation, I would have gotten over, but with that guy acting like the way he was, it's hard to predict what he's going to do, and it's safer to stay put and let him do what he needs to do. He could have just passed and been on his marry way, but instead he got dumb, then dumber, and paid the price for it. There's been plenty of times where I'm passing someone, but I'm not going as fast as the person behind me would like (often times an obscene speed), and I have every intention of getting over safely, but before I can do that in my own comfort, the person behind me (often in a truck or SUV) gets super aggressive, and passes me on the right side. How about just giving me a second, let me get over, and then you get the left lane to yourself? Two wrongs don't necessarily make a right, but she didn't do anything seriously damning in my view. A little annoying? Sure. But she passed people, and he could have made an easy pass and there would be no story.
  13. Glad they are going the cannibal route with this. In the comics, our lovely bunch of survivors run into a group called "the hunters" after the whole Governor war. The Hunters are cannibals, and t makes some pretty intense reading, but is MUCH different than a Terminus sort of camp. Terminus, though, should work much better for TV. So I think it's a smart move by the show runners. If they did The Hunters in TV, it'd be fairly short string of episodes, and would include a lot of "down time" in the woods, which I have a feeling many viewers would get bored of. There is one really powerful scene in the comics that I would have liked to have seen playover, but that character is dead in the show already (Dale), and the Hunters aren't nearly as smart as what the Terminus group appears to be. Still, though, I kind of hope it happens. ---- The show seems to be doing a better job than the comic when it comes to difficult decisions. The comic is purely brutal, and often times suddenly so. Whereas the show, there seems to be more internal conflicts communicated. One example springs to mind. In both the comics and the show, there's a pair of kids, where one kid kills the other. In the comics, there's some discussion among adults after it happens, but not much of a decision made, and the emotions don't feel that high. In the comics, Carl (who, btw, is like 8 the entire time so far, but it benefits from not having to deal with time the same way as a show) sneaks into the kid's tent and makes the kill. This is actually one of the bigger events for Carl in how he "grows". In the show, there's a fairly short discussion about it, but the emotions are incredibly high, the adults do what they know must be done, and it's utterly heart breaking. I think the decision worked out very well. Not to mention, I believe the show gives us a much better emotional connection to the two kids when leading up to the incident, whereas in the comics, the two kids are kind of a side/background story that doesn't really amount to much up until one kills the other, and Carl kills the remaining. *rambles* Anyways, I like some of the choices the show made this year. Definitely a solid season. The best I remember, but I don't remember where some of the previous seasons begin and end. I'm still disappointed about how the show treated Andrea, though. In the comics, she's basically Rick's second in command, has a great head on her shoulders, and her skills save the group on multiple occasions. I assume her role is being taken by Daryl, but with a bow instead of a rifle (which, I'm not sure how that'll translate to later, but whatever). Daryl doesn't exist at all in the comics, and afaik, was supposed to be written out of the show fairly quickly, but stuck around due to fan popularity. The show is doing enough new things to keep comic readers interested. They haven't been totally consistent with who is alive and who is dead, at least not so much that I feel safe in making assumptions.
  14. I can't speak for anyone else, but I'm not saying Marrone won't work. (Or the FO changes, or the personnel changes) All I know is, SO FAR, the results have been the same. I will, of course, give it time, before I call for change again, though.
  15. I don't really have much attachment to individual players, even on the Bills. There are certain players that I really enjoy watching, though. Whether it be simply because they are entertaining, or just that damned good. Manning, Brady (objectively), Rodgers, the new kids (Wilson, Kaepernick, etc) are all good fun to watch. I like watching Peterson and Lynch run. The Seahawks defense is a hell of a lot of fun to watch. Up until last year, I loved tuning in for Steelers vs Ravens games. And so on.
  16. Well, of course people have changed, you can't argue that. Brandon is in control instead of Wilson. Whaley is the GM instead of Nix, etc. We have new coaches, new players, etc. That all has changed. And with all the people changes, there will be "culture" change. So yeah, I guess... sure... everything has changed. The results haven't. Yet. Personally, I don't really care about the people, I care about the results. I like the new group of guys personally... but I also liked Chan and Fitz. I just want to win some damned football games.
  17. I like all the argument back and forth about "change" yet our record has stayed the same. Hopefully this the year we actually some results on the football field.
  18. Unless the Bills are moved to LA, and say.... the Jaguars are moved to Toronto.
  19. I'm not insinuating that it's a done deal, or an easy sell. Just that if there's more money elsewhere, the owners will support the move, because it'd bring in more money. These are businesses first, and it's important to remember. Now if a new owner studies and sees Buffalo as the most profitable option for the near future, we're safe until that's no longer true.
  20. Every single one of them that thinks a move will result in more money for the league (and therefore, themselves). The only way the Bills stay in Buffalo, is if the new owner is a total homer. Otherwise, the team will move to wherever is most profitable, and the owners will jump on board.
  21. I think the FO will do as usual, and attempt to maximize profits. Winning and losing has little to do with it.
  22. Was he the RB that absolutely dominated us? If so, thank god he's out of of our division, heh.
  23. Logically, a new stadium will be needed, and it'll need to be in a high volume commercial area, and the stadium will either have to be a dome or have a retractible roof so it can be used year around for various things. That's the only way a new stadium would be "worth it" in the long run. The problem is, who is going to pay for it? If it has to come out of the new owner's pockets, are they going to want to build a new stadium in Buffalo, or are they going to want to move into a stadium being built elsewhere to entice a NFL team? This is where, unfortunately, NY taxes might come into play.
