  1. Exhibit Z of why you need to build throughout the draft and NOT free agency. Houston lost Mario Williams with a big contract to Buffalo and didn't really replace him with even a $2 M guy. They got a 3rd. Baltimore lost 2 decent players in Jarrett Johnson and Ben Grubbs, but then a bunch of absolute SCRUBS. They signed Corey Graham and 1 other guy. The result was 4 Comp picks. If you have decent players on your roster that get signed by someone else, you get comp. If you suck and have a bunch of bartenders on your roster (like the Bills for the last 10 years), it's hard to get comp picks because nobody wants your bartenders. That's ANOTHER reason to blow off the free agents and build through the draft. As good as you think Manny Lawson was, the Bills were still 6-10 and he cost them a potential 3rd round comp pick.
  2. Want a good "hindsight laugh"…look at the Bills 2008 draft.
  3. Well, yeah….but hindsight is harder on the Bills than any other team in the NFL…..and really kind to teams playing this weekend. On the pissed meter, there's Whitner, Fina, McKelvin, Ronnie Harmon, then Maybin. They needed a pass rusher…he just turned out to be a joke. The others had clearly better players available.
  4. All kidding aside, wouldn't it be nice if the Bills figured this QB thing out? I am so sick of the discussions. Todd Collins. JP. Trent. Fitz. EJ. Good QBs are out there. Freakin' find one already.
  5. 1st of all….great post Dave….best I've read in a while. 2nd, I think the Bills take a flier on a Josh McCown or another veteran FA before they invest another high pick in a QB. Build the line 1 more year and find out about EJ.
  6. Well, you can't open any holes on offense or fill any on defense, so I'd say draft a WR or DB.
  7. You had me at "accurate enough". If #3 is not accurate enough, move on.
  8. Pittsburgh never traded up, the Bills never traded up (high) and there is nothing to indicate that Whaley would trade up. That being said….now there's the issue of whether Manziel is worth trading up for. I have no opinion, but it doesn't appear to be a slam dunk. Oh….and there's the issue of spending your first top pick on a QB and naming him the 2014 starter…..
  9. That "IF" is pretty big. I would correct it to say IF they fix the run problems AND maintain the pressure on the QB, the D will be monstrous. Many teams can stop 1 thing.
  10. OSU…solid defense… That's not what they said in the pre game. Watkins looks good tho. Acceleration is ridiculous. Catches with his hands. Physical. He looks pretty rare, but I'm concerned that he's showing better against a poor defense.
  11. How much is it that Sammy Watkins is a stud and how much is it that OSU's defense is just brutal?
  12. When you extract out the 80 yard run on the 1st play….. I don't know why any fan tries to justify that team on any level. They sucked against any decent team and just could not stop the run. If you can't stop the run for a full 60, tell your story walking.
  13. Has there ever been a franchise that selected QBs in the 1st round in back to back years? I'm going to go with NO, but I'm sure there may be 1 scenario in the past to prove me wrong. This regime will not take a QB in the 1st. Or I would be shocked. Super shocked. It's career suicide for Whaley. FYI - Cowboys took Aikman and Walsh and back to back years, but traded Walsh to 'Aints. Colts took Schlichter and Elway in back to back years. But Schlichter was suspended and we all know what happened with Elway.
  14. Maybe we need to consider that he is part of the problem….I mean, the Bills have never been good against the run while he has been here. I honestly don't know, but I don't think he should be free of evaluation/criticism. I don't agree with that. The DL routinely gets moved.
  15. Kyle Williams has been part of 8 losing teams, none of which could stop the run. That's all I know.
  16. Very well put. No guard and no RT, but invest in ANOTHER WR?? The TE, I get.
  17. Or you could have a young team realize they can beat the 800 pound gorilla at Gillette….nah….you're right, they should give the good ones a day off and let them wonder going into next year. Stupid.
  18. Agreed. Pettine and the defense has shown flashes of competency. Nothing more. I am not ready to say they have a great defense when they just fly everyone up the field to get a sack or an INT…..meanwhile the 3rd string RB is running free in the secondary on the draw play. It shows you how desperate we Buffalo fans are when a decent performance looks great.
  19. They had an unprecedented amount of turmoil and still ended up with a better record than the Bills will have this year. We need a great QB.
  20. Name the last crappy team with a great QB.
  21. No opinion can be blatantly false. Disagree if you like…...
  22. Do you know what a top ten defense is Buffalo? 6 wins. 9 losses. They need to stop the run and get better QB play. Period. Let's not do this year end thing where we cherry pick stats to make the Bills look better than they are. They may be better….next year.
  23. I'd like to see them beat the piss out of Brady. The flags will come, but so what. Hold Edelman. Hit Brady. Rinse. Repeat. Let's not get too high on the sack stat. This defense was clearly beatable this year.
  24. Carrington was the best D lineman last year to me. I thought he was really coming on as a force. Seeing as the Bills vaunted 6-9 defense still sucks against the run, I think the Bills should be interested in anyone who has shown ability to stop it.
