  1. BPA - To put it in perspective, if you have Patrick Peterson, Patrick Willis and Eugene Monroe on the board, how can you take Monroe?
  2. Mel Kiper is not alone. You'll see all kinds of jokers published on the web that are not worthy of our attention or discussion. It's this time of year I really miss Joel Buchsbaum. People have followed his format in discussing players, but nobody is as good as he was.
  3. Ranked #5 by Eric Edholm....in February. Means nothing. It sounds like he will be a top 10-20 guy, but if he runs a 4.9, all the sudden he's a 2nd rounder. It's wayyyyy early.
  4. I could care less about sacks and interceptions. I'd be willing to bet just about ANYTHING this team will be better against the run, better in points against and better in wins than under Pettine. Part of it is the uptrend in talent. But I also think the Bills brought in a great defensive staff.
  5. Seriously!!! WTF!!! That had NOTHING to do with the Bills and they showed several other stadiums. Get real...
  6. It's easier to run on Dareus than Suh or Haynesworth.
  7. Not going to happen. Whaley will not overpay for FAs and will be active only after the "dust settles". Decker would be wise to take what he can get an stay in Denver till #18 retires.
  8. I hope so. For the reasons you stated, he should have his biggest year in 14. Throw LBs behind him who can read and react to this active front, it might get interesting. If Dareus is disappointing in any way, it will cost him $$.
  9. Remember that Schwartz had Haynesworth at his absolute beastly peak and then had Suh. I don't think the Bills have 1 interior player that is, or can be, dominant on that level. When he says "attacking defense", I assume he'll send 4 if it's enough…then 5 and so on…..until he pressure the QB. Whether the Bills blitz depends on whether Kyle is healthy, Dareus and Mario feel like playing and who is the RDE.
  10. I came on here to flame the idea, but ya know what....your comparison is valid and based on fact. Well done. Now where Schwartz goes from here might not follow, but let's hope....why not....
  11. And Decker in the 3rd, Julius Thomas in the 4th, Travathan in the 6th, Malik Jackson in the 5th, Knighton as FA, 2 starters on the Oline as a FA....Champ Bailey via trade and 5 other DBs via FA......but other than that...your right...it's all Manning. The Broncos have done everything right for the past 3 years.
  12. Signing a FA at his peak is a loser move. It binds you up in so many ways. Release the Krakken, just not in Buffalo.
  13. Schwartz has a good resume and great references. And he's starting with very different personnel than he had anywhere. I'm excited to see what he can do. Who knows? If the Bills can upgrade the LB talent and resign Byrd, Schwartz may look like a genius next year. Let's also not forget that our QBs WILL play better and our time of possession will probably improve regardless of who the DC is. This hiring is a solid move and was realistically the best person out there for this gig.
  14. You felt good about that defense?? Who gave up 24 points a game??? Not me...
  15. 6-10 is disaster. Being around the bottom 10 in points against IS a disaster. Forget about the "stats". This defense will be better in 2014. Oh yeah…the Bills are set up for that….
  16. If you just look at it like a hire for any other job, he's a home run. Experience? Check. Recommendations from Belichick and Fisher. If they get the personnel right, I think Schwartz will know what to do and give the Bills a good defense. There were other choices, but none obviously better than Schwartz. I am sure Gunther Cunningham was calling defense in Detroit. Had same thought.
  17. Depends if they're there "when the dust settles". My guess is Willie Young is the only possible under the radar guy. Pettigrew will get paid.
  18. Amen. Schwartz is probably the most qualified guy with the best resume out there. I think the hire is perfect. This guy gets it. Stop the run first.
  19. I submit that his stint in NY was a disaster as well. If you can't stop the run, and his teams were at the very bottom of the league, who cares what the pass defense does. Other teams never had to pass. Hiring guys like Donnie Henderson as a Coordinator gets HCs fired. I won't be shocked if he's hired. I will be just more of the same depressed.
  20. Henderson is the only Coordinator around with a worse track record than Crossman, so he may absorb some of Danny's heat. So it makes sense. Someone please tell me how Donnie Henderson is even being mentioned other than the convenient "He's here already" argument.
  21. There's no way Henderson gets this gig.
  22. The Bills have waffled back and forth between the 4-3 and the hybrid 3-4, costing development time by changing schemes. If they go back to the 4-3, I will absolutely, positively expect it bc it's what they do.
