  1. For me the issue is that TEs very RARELY make an impact, regardless of where they're Drafted, in their first two years....go back and look at some of the best TEs including Graham, J. Thomas, Witten, and to speak of Davis - he was on the brink of being considered a "bust" until Harbaugh, and um, a guy known as Greg Roman, came calling and turned him into a truly good (not great) TE...so, if TE really is that critical to Roman's Offense, you need production this year and TEs don't typically produce in their first year or two. Even Tony Gonzalez who was also the only other 1st round TE to have done much in recent years, didn't come out of the gate blazing, but did have good returns in his first couple years. The other names mentioned along with Antonio Gates and others, took a couple years to develop and were 3rd / 4th round selections. Only Gronk, who has Brady and Belichick, of recent has really come out on fire and done some amazing things at the TE position. So, I would rather over pay right now and get a guy who can produce and contribute from Day 1 and is still young, than wonder about what the Offense will look like in three or four years. Before FA started, and before the trades for McCoy and Cassel, the BILLS were projected to have about $60 million in Cap space next year, so no need to worry about the sky falling with all the new contracts......IMHO
  2. And ironically, they let Dan Connolly go at the age of 32...he started 13 games for them, including the Super Bowl and was quite good...I don't get it?? I would like the BILLS to go after Connolly, he's a LG....
  3. woof....too much here to dissect....the Off-Season, really is the whacky season.
  4. I see a larger outside WR as an issue, but not necessarily a "need" i.e. Offensive line, TE, etc. But, I like Robert Woods, a lot, but see him more as a slot WR, and guy like Crabtree as a larger outside WR target...Hogan is good, but more in a 4 WR set, IMHO....so, Drafting a bigger, possession type WR is also a good choice to me...no need to spend FA money if it gets tied up in Offensive line, TE, and maybe LB / CB depth....
  5. Early projections before the Shady deal, last Monday, was that the BILLS were projected to be about $60 million under Cap for 2016, would make sense for BILLS to wait when they can unload a huge contract for Dareus while allowing them to pursue their desired players this year.
  6. Whaley has shown some real ability to Draft LBs, wouldn't be surprised to see the Offensive line, 2 TEs, a mid-tier WR, D-lineman and CB in FA, leaving LB in Draft along with another TE and D-lineman.
  7. Look at his YouTube handle....I'm pretty sure this dude has been eating A LOT more Little Debbie cakes than "kitty"...
  8. I don't think Cassel is "the answer" but looking at his resume, it's actually not *that* bad, including leading the Chiefs to an AFC West Division title and going to the Pro Bowl throwing 27 TDs to 7 INTs in 2010...I realize that was five years ago, but compared to what is available in FA only, and what the BILLS surrendered, it's a pretty solid move by Doug Whaley. I'm hoping there's still another QB to come that challenges Cassel and EJ even more, but for what can be done thus far, Whaley is doing it....wouldn't be shocked to see Mario Williams moved for Offensive help as well, given his Cap hit and what Rex does on Defense vs. what is really needed on Offense. Interesting days ahead...
  9. The only real issue I can take other than maybe a difference of opinion about the players Drafted is Dareus. Next year the BILLS are projected to be about $60 million under the cap, and since Dareus already has a good but not great contract for this year, I would make him a priority after next year and essentially get him the same deal while saving money this year to get a RT that is so very much needed. Dareus isn't going anywhere and depending on a possible suspension, will only have less leverage no matter his performance...but regardless, the money will be there next year, and you get his performance for this year. "Locking him up" a year early to me is just a fan's way of acting out of fear he will walk. But during this time next year, they will be able to back up the Brinks truck and know that he is happy and they have their player....plus, if I'm not mistaken - and I certainly could be - Mario Williams' contract starts to take a bit of a Team-Friendly turn also making the BILLS' brass decisions a bit more malleable.
  10. Same old BILLS, yet they hired Rex Ryan and got an Offensive Coordinator that was interviewed for that same position, has gone to the NFC title game three years in a row and has a superb resume...while making hay in the hardest Conference in the NFL over that same time period. Furthermore, Rex himself said he was happy Terry had "deep pockets" because it took an owner willing to pay for top tier Coaches that could very well have gone elsewhere, i.e.Roman and even Kromer who isn't an OC but is getting back to what he did very well, Coaching the Offensive Line....please stop, with the argument that may have worked two years ago, but is definitely a false statement in so many ways. Hughes back would be "nice" but I'd rather have a good CB / Safety and due to Kyle Williams getting older, Mario Williams for that matter as well, they need to add a solid DL to that role and as others have stated, Hughes isn't as much a necessity in Rex's system.
  11. If the BILLS were to take a run at Suh, as much as I love Kyle Williams, it would almost seem to indicate the BILLS would either be willing or wanting to trade him for maybe some Offensive talent. Mario Willliams is a beast, showing he was worthy of the 1st overall pick but in a Rex designed Defense, not really sure he makes sense especially with a near $20 cap hit. Also, something to consider. Suh and Dareus could play the 4-3, 3-4 or any nickel or dime package and the 4-6 as well. Just, food for thought.
  12. The two at the top of that list would be my first two choices. Iupati is great, but will come at steep price. Rather spend that extra money elsewhere, i.e. CB, DL, TE
  13. Bandit, would love to hear your opinion of Pro-Style QBs this year and who is above the rest. Maybe a 1,2,3 ranking. IMHO, the shortest distance between college QB and NFL ready QB are those who run a Pro Style Offense for 2 yrs or more with some individual success.
  14. Classy and well done Cleveland...sincerely, thanks for taking the time to send a "Congrats" to fans of a rival team. You, are a great representation of what being a fan is all about: passionate but personally respectful - love the game and want to win without making it derogatory about others. Sincerely, wish Cleveland the best - until they meet the BILLS again, lol - and hope for good things for fans like you.
  15. ^^^^this....and to be fair, I was one leading the charge with pitchforks and torches...as it turns out, they really did just need better players
  16. And I don't disagree at all....but isn't it damn near tragic that such a wide, sweeping code of conduct is necessary for FUTURE punishment of drug use, domestic violence and child abuse?? It's amazing that the NFL should even need to consider graduated sanctions or punishments for things involving violence toward family members - especially children.... And, thank you for your service.
  17. You know, it's sort of like there was already a thread about this shortly after an article was out a few weeks ago.....hmmmmmm?
  18. Just to be clear, Matt Ryan isn't in his 30s either. Close, as he's 29, but not quite there yet. As for Foles, I would take him over Cutler, mostly due to promise and that I think Foles showed last year, in the right system, he can be very successful. As for Cutler, he's 31, and has struggled everywhere he's gone except for one season in Denver, his last. And as many others have said, due to the price tag of his salary and most likely the Draft picks BILLS would need to surrender, I'd say no thanks.
  19. My vote was Bevell...did a little research on him - too much to post here - but good Offensive mind and young guy who has real leadership capability. Best of all?? Worked with and identified good QBs, especially Russell Wilson whom Carroll public and unabashedly stated at the time of the Draft that Wilson was all Bevell and then Bevell's project. To me, best option available.
  20. But keep in mind, some of the best QBs Drafted, even lately, have been 2nd to 3rd round QBs: Kaep, Wilson, Foles, Dalton, and consider Brees and others. 1st Round is not a necessity to find a good to great QB. For my money, focus only on QBs that have been a starter for at least the last 2 years that have played i Pro Style Offense.
  21. Orton to Brown on screen for 4 yards.
  22. The last scenario, is a likely one IMHO and glad to see it happen...or, Marrone will resign in the face of mandated change, either way, I think the HC is changed unless the BILLS make the playoffs or win 10 games and miss them (don't see that happening, but hey, stranger things, right?)...
  23. If the BILLS make the playoffs in any scenario, I don't think the BILLS fire Marrone or any of the Defensive Staff, but "may" make changes on the Offensive Coaching side...however, if the BILLS win 9 games but miss playoffs, I definitely think Offensive Coaching changes are coming but Marrone, unfortunately, keeps his job....however, if the Pegulas as has been reported (but not necessarily true) bring in a football "czar" to evaluate the team and it's intricacies and the BILLS win 8 games or less, meaning they go 3-6 the rest of the way, I do think Marrone and the entire staff is out with Schwartz getting an interview for Head Coach, dependent on his Offensive Coordinator and promoting Pepper Johnson based on a presumed hand-shake agreement when he came here....
