  1. I choose to support whomever Rex and Roman choose for two reasons; 1. Enough already with all the QB bullsh*t, I want a QB to start all 16 (and hopefully more) games and see how he and the team respond as the season progresses, for better or for worse, but given the depth of the projected QB class for 2016 Draft would want them to Draft a QB in 1st or 2nd round no matter what and 2. I want the team to take an identity and that can't happen when the most important position is constantly in flux.
  2. I believe EJ played with a greater sense of production, but he was erratic as he's been since he came to Buffalo. I also think EJ is more of the prototypical QB in terms of physical size which could bode well for him long-term and showed great progression from OTAs to the last game - but TT has been solid, to great at times, and has a live arm. I watched the video of his pre-Draft days and what he did there inspired me to root for him, so now that he'll be "The Man", I'm pulling for him to have an All-Pro type year, Vick 2.0 in terms of production - not necessarily the way Vick accomplished it but ultimately guiding this team to a Super Bowl victory. And given the bad news of FredEx, Taylor is also a type of underdog and essentially overlooked due to sitting behind Flacco, so his success would sort of be similar. Let's hope! Go BILLS!!
  3. And Glazer for the win! Edit: He's reporting Tyrod Taylor will be the QB
  4. The progression of all 3, even Simms to some extent, QBs is a testament to Greg Roman and his staff. The ability of the Offensive line to make the impressive showing it has is also a real testament to a true Offensive Coordinator and his staff. I've believed (and said at times) the best Off-Season addition the BILLS made was that of this Coaching Staff. Rex was run out of NY after that buffoon of a GM failed to Draft and add quality Offensive talent, not to mention refused to spend money the team actually had on FAs, but they played hard for him. No better ringing endorsement than their final game when they went down to Miami and put an arse-whooping on them - despite Rex being chased by pitch-forks and torches all the players gave their passion in that game. Then, to get Roman as an Offensive Coordinator, was just pure genius. The addition of Clay was huge, and re-signing Hughes, but I believe the Coaching staff would have maximized whatever talent they acquired. Well done Terry and Kim Pegula, well done.
  5. Agreed. He is a Rookie, and it shows - but he also shows moments of true promise - I like the kid, just needs to continue to develop. And if / when Leo comes back, he will be a nice addition to the backfield in his current form.
  6. Basically, that means all three QBs will have started 1 Pre-Season game....
  7. I have to admit, watching this video has influenced my opinion of Tyrod Taylor. I truly believed he was just another "mobile" Quarterback who couldn't sit in the pocket and read a Defense. Through the first two games, I got mixed results IMHO in large part due to guys being injured and according to Roman, no "game planning". I think I am now truly on the fence about who the starter should be (not that anyone is asking me). I will reserve final judgment until Saturday evening after I had a chance to watch the BILLS and Steelers and see who did more with less. I may just be Team Tyrod after I can see the game.
  8. Deonte Thompson, IMHO...Hogan is a nice player, but since Harvin is on a one year contract, Thompson has the speed and size to be an outside WR to compliment Watkins. I like his versatility and speed over Hogan.
  9. Just because you seem intent on picking at the details for the sake of making yourself feel important: According to Webster's Dictionary: brash - confident and aggressive in usually a rude or unpleasant way : very strong or harsh bravado - confident or brave talk or behavior that is intended to impress other people So, in other words Rex was aggressive, and strong in a manner intended to demonstrate confidence to impress those listening. My choice of words was more succinct. However, please, feel free to enjoy your glass of "wet water" while you stroke your ego to try and feel superior by making an inept attempt at picking at the yarn of other people's observations. Agreed on both counts!! It's good to feel the excitement of the players and their joy of playing the GAME once again. I realize it's a business but it is still a game that is to be played and that seems to ring true with Rex.
  10. The closer we get to the first game, the more it seems surreal....Marrone left on a midnight train to nowhere, Rex entered with his brash bravado and Greg Roman has given the fans the first sense of hope for an NFL quality Offense in quite some time. There is a great deal of anxiety about the QB situation (God, that gets old to rehash every freakin' year) but otherwise, there is an incredible amount of hope and promise that comes with the first game. This might be the best coaching staff the team has had since Marv retired and that, more than anything else gives me some faith in the season. Players and their talent of course is really big, but as we all have seen - good or great coaches get the most from the players they have and given the plethora of talent for the BILLS, it would seem a good coach could make the most of it and bring this team into the post-season. Bring on Pitt and let's go!
  11. I realize it's semantics, but I believe what I said was a "better resume of competence", meaning given the lack of a track record for Taylor and we all know EJ's thus far, to me it is that Cassel is more of a known commodity and that given what this team is asking of him, it may suit his traits more so than the others. Taylor is intriguing to say the least, but how will his type of game hold up under 16 (and hopefully more) games of pressure, hits, etc. and EJ is well - EJ - moments of brilliance followed and preceded by moments of utter dysfunction.
  12. Was just thinking if I were Whaley, I'd be calling to find out the asking price. A couple players and a late pick is about the threshold in my mind - but who knows. Titans like him and may want a ton in return, in that case - no thanks.
  13. You are correct sir. Their record was 11-5, but did in fact miss the playoffs - my mistake. Thank you for setting the record straight. However, doesn't change the fact of a better resume of competence than the other two.
  14. But, to be fair to Cassel - he is also the only one of those three that has taken two different team to the Playoffs. I'm not saying he's better, but he might be what this team needs given the rest of the starting roster.
  15. In my mind it's different based on age and projection. Warner is an outlier but even in that case, I would still want the BILLS to Draft a QB in 2016. As for Brady....do we really want to begin to compare Taylor to Brady? Brady will (unfortunately, much to the chagrin of BILLS fans everywhere) was one of, if not the, greatest QBs to play in the Super Bowl era and to do so at 24 is amazing. Additionally, both of the aforementioned QBs are pocket passers, more traditional and less at risk of serious injury. Of course Brady got the elbow to the knee, but that is a rare thing (and some might argue it was intentional), but the point being - I'm not saying "cut" Taylor or don't let him play or start if he demonstrates tremendous QB play. I'm saying play him, but have a successor beginning in 2016. A QB that can learn and be groomed for a year or two and then hand him the reigns, so the team is NOT in the position it is in now, ala "QB purgatory".
  16. In Brady's case, he was younger, Drafted by that team and emerged after an injury. In Warner's case, he was essentially "discovered" while bagging groceries and upon entry into Dick Vermeil's Offense it was readily apparent that somehow, he slipped through the traditional NFL lens. In Taylor's case, he will be entering middle age for QBs (per se) and that I would like a more secure long-term determination so that the BILLS can finally, finally get off this QB carousel for the next decade plus.....And sorry, no matter how good Taylor plays, IMHO, he will never be that "Franchse QB" we both referenced. Just IMO, but to me Taylor could be good enough to win with the BILLS based on their current roster. However, a good Franchise type QB is an extremely gifted QB with the intelligence and intangibles to lead an Offense for 12 to 15 years regardless of roster changes, with the exception of a total implosion.
  17. To your first sentence; no, that's not what I said....what I said was: regardless of the success or failure of the 2015 year, I want the BILLS to Draft a QB they (and by extension we as fans can) believe is the long-term QB future for the Buffalo BILLS. I would LOVE, repeat LOVE, for the BILLS to win the Superbowl whether its Taylor or freakin' Big Bird as QB, but I definitely ALSO want the BILLS to Draft their QB, Face of the Franchise, in 2016.
  18. I for one am in the "I really hoped it would work and rooted for EJ because he seems like a good kid and hey, it's a 1st round QB, but now it's time to move on" crowd....Having said that, what I truly, really, sincerely DON'T want is for Taylor to shoot it lights out from here through the Super Bowl and the BILLS determine they DO NOT need to Draft a QB in the 1st or 2nd round in 2016. Because, IMHO, regardless of the outcome (such as the extremely unlikely one I just posited with Taylor), I fully believe the BILLS NEEEEEEEEED to Draft an NFL ready, Face of the Franchise, and future of the team Quarterback in 2016, doing whatever necessary to accomplish that task, especially given the otherwise wonderful pool of talent this team has on it already.
  19. So, far all the good Karma that came the BILLS' way ala Pegula family and their fantastic executive decisions, the LB ACL curse seems to be trying to balance it all out....ughh. Hopefully, BILLS brass can put together a couple good players to make up for the ones just lost, via Wynn and Powell. Feel bad for the kid too, he has worked his tail off to get a legit opportunity and just when it seemed he was primed to make the jump, this happens to his knee. Hope he heals fast and completely to revive his hopes at some point in the future. Best wishes.
  20. +1 This thread has "officially" turned ludicrous and bat-sh*t crazy.....some of the ideas / notions / opinions being strewn about at this point are so illogical it screams mental health issues.
  21. I will be very interested to see what kind of QB Whaley actually drafts and then allows to develop.
  22. With the essence of the OP's opening statement, I would have to agree. I was one who wanted to hold out after year one, then hope he could put it together last year, and then finally hope he could come into camp and light it up, but alas the writing seems to be on the wall. I STILL hope I'm wrong, but I don't think that's the case. Also, while I believe that EJ certainly has issues with his mechanics and accuracy - which no doubt go hand in hand - I also believe some of the misfortune of being on a team where Kevin Kolb was the projected starter and then being mishandled by Marrone et. al., had as much to do with his QB failure as anything else. I like the kid a lot as a person, and there are moments of brilliance, but I think it's all over but the crying (for him and his staunch supporters). I think the BILLS roll with the lower risk options to manage the game and "hope" they can Draft their Franchise QB next year, which is currently projected to be a very good one for QBs.
  23. First, there are many presumptions in your Post, specifically presuming the BILLS can't / won't afford to keep the aforementioned players. There are many financial moves that can be made to help alleviate the pressure towards the CAP, such as restructuring Mario, cutting McKelvin (which I think is a foregone conclusion after this season with the advent of Darby if he plays well), and others that help the team afford to keep those players. Also, possible the BILLS restructure Shady after one year and Clay, whom the overbid because they needed to in order to get that all-around tool type of TE and keep Miami from matching the offer. Second, I wouldn't be "surprised" if the BILLS kept all of their RBs going into this year because it's obvious they will be a Run-Heavy Offense and will absolutely depend on healthy and rested RBs to contribute throughout the season (and hopefully post-season), so carrying that many, makes sense. Keep in mind, it only takes a groin pull and hyperextension to keep 2 RBs out of games a few weeks, which could be 1/4 the season if those injuries linger. So, for a team that will rely heavily on a running game, they will need to insure they have good, healthy RBs to keep the yards churning....the current roster allows that to happen. Third, regarding the money they're giving to Shady this year, he is essentially the BILLS *star* as opposed to Brees, Brady, Luck, etc...so paying him *star* type money for a couple years while either the BILLS groom their guy, i.e. EJ, or Draft their guy next year, it makes sense to let the man who will carry much of the Offensive load on his shoulders, be paid well and feel as important as he will truly be to their success. Overall, I disagree with your premise, I disagree with your intent, I disagree with your bleak approach to the future and think that in the Pre-Season of perpetual hope, you've just flushed it....so, "enlightener" is a term I would strongly discourage.
