  1. Because they have the two most important pieces figured out: Head Coach and QB. The two things the BILLS have failed to do since Levy left and Kelly retired. Yes, Flutie was a brief carry-over for decent QB play, but that didn't really bring us wins.
  2. Whatever it takes to get Rex fired and Tyrod run out of town....
  3. Considering the options behind Clay and O'Leary, I don't know that Pettigrew couldn't be much better based on the situation.
  4. Especially given his areas of strength, I'd say absolutely.
  5. ^^^^Wow, this just shows, when Scouting Reports are done well and objectively, they tend to remain true years later...
  6. Well, you *could* argue that if such a conviction was deeply held that he believed the BILLS should have beat the Raiders and failed as miserably as they did - then it only reveals just how poorly the team is run / coached, not to mention the QB play. In other words, they failed to reach expectations based on the totality of circumstances and such failure is a direct result of poor coaching / preparation as well as the poor QB play that has plagued the Offense this year.
  7. We shall agree to disagree about the coaching -- but as for Tyrod I completely agree and have not been a fan since the middle of last year. From the time it appeared relatively clear: he's a truly gifted athlete, but not an NFL caliber QB.
  8. But to be fair to the Defense, the Offense did not sustain a drive to save their lives, and I think everyone with a pulse knew the key to that Oakland game was for the BILLS' Offense to maintain possession to limit the Oakland explosive Offensive effectiveness. The BILLS essentially did that in the 1st half, scored two quick TDs, and then abandoned what was working....for reasons I can't explain - and that does fall on the coaches. However, missing open receivers, taking too long in the pocket, running when it isn't necessary and failing to read Defenses is squarely on the QB. So, IMHO the problem was two-fold: coaches failed to adjust and maintain proper scheme, QB failed to be a QB. In other words, more of the same this year...
  9. That Andrew Luck to other side boundary was amazing - and honestly he's the example of how a good to great QB can carry a team even when Defense and Offensive line isn't very good. A good QB for the BILLS this year would have this team ready for a playoff run.
  10. It only bolsters your argument, but Dak was a 4th round QB...
  11. To me, this one statement can sum up yesterday: Tyrod was not the *sole* reason the BILLS lost yesterday, but he was the veritable cause for *NOT* winning. In other words, yes the Defense lost their bite, but as with the Jets game, they stayed on the field too long and it was known ahead of time the BILLS needed to keep their Offense on the field and eat the clock. They didn't do that well in the 1st half, but they did execute the plan to avoid giving up big plays and allow the Offense an opportunity to work. Once they scored 2 quick TDs, it's as if they just let up and Tyrod failed to execute the plan accordingly, IMHO.
  12. It's not "all" anyone wants to talk about, as we are capable of having several discussions at once. However, to the point of the Raiders game, if the BILLS had a legit pocket-passing, NFL-Defense-reading QB, I believe the BILLS would be 8-3 at worst and feeling very good about the BILLS facing a tough opponent. Instead I'm left to ponder the "what ifs"...
  13. If honest criticism is "crying" then aren't we all guilty at some point?? As for "babies", that only reflects on emotional maturity and it would seem those who cannot handle the criticism are more like the little children in your scenario than the people simply believing a better pocket passer could be doing a better job with the Offense....did it get the job done with Jax? Yes...but that doesn't mean you "settle", it means you accept the Win and keep looking for ways to improve and Tyrod has shown his true colors: gifted athlete, hard worker, hell of an arm...but not a long-term NFL QB that can produce with his QB abilities alone.
  14. Soooo, you're comparing Tyrod who has been in the league for years, sat behind a good and Super Bowl caliber QB on a well-run organization, and was the full-time starter last year, with the same NFL Offense and starting Offensive line with a tremendous RB and a couple of good back-ups, to Manning?? A guy who had to sling the ball all over the field his first ROOKIE year, with almost none of the benefit of what I just mentioned? ( in reference to Peyton, not Eli)....that, might be as far fetched an analogy as I've ever seen....the failure in comparisons between the two are too long to mention, so I'll just leave this with....HUH?
  15. It was great to see the team respond as a team in the 2nd half. They really gathered themselves through the half-time break and immediately picked up the sense of urgency. As much as I may seriously question Rex for various reasons, coaching has a lot to do with such a change of energy and focus, so kudos to him and his staff for the result.
  16. However, many of those rushing yards / attempts are BECAUSE of his choices or lack thereof...he essentially runs because he fails to QB in an NFL way...IMO
  17. It's just hard to see all the plays Tyrod leaves on the field each and every week. There's no doubt he's better than what the BILLS have had for quite some time, but when the roster is built to win now and the most important position in the game is NOT doing his part to make all the other parts work properly, it's frustrating. Because even though his athleticism is extraordinary, he essentially needs that to be effective at all, and is still not producing the way a QB should be producing...and I'm sorry, he's not a Rookie, he doesn't get to let this go.
  18. I would have preferred that as I despise 4:00 games...but I really don't think that's happening.
  19. Maybe this will open the door for JWill as it remains to be seen exactly what level the Rookie is currently performing...he's had fumblitis, but runs well...the team should take off the training wheels a bit and see exactly what lies beneath.
  20. To answer this question adequately, it really does depend on "how" the team finishes, in what areas are they deficient to finish the season, how was the failure in the second half of the season, etc....? Then, I would have a better answer - but to me, regardless of anything else, QB - a true pocket passer with the ability to see the whole field and be the more cerebral QB - is essential for this team to take the next step.
  21. The problem is outliers are supposed to be that, the rare exception to the rule. And when you look across the NFL landscape it isn't as much an outlier as you might suggest. Romo is another late example - as an Undrafted Free Agent. And I conceded the point that far more QBs are 1st Round and high 2nd round picks - but that good to great QBs can certainly be found in all rounds if homework and evaluation is done properly and then someone in Draft room has the gumption to make that call.
  22. And what I find particularly amusing is that there are fans / people on this board who believe that to a legitimate candidate as a Rookie, they must be Drafted in 1st or high 2nd Round. And yes, history often favors that approach but there are also the: Brady, Russell Wilson, Dak Prescotts, and Kirk Cousins of the NFL. Essentially, there are QBs to be found in every Draft at various points of the Draft - just need the right evaluator and decision makers.
  23. The poll really should be for next year, but I understand why it's for next week. The issue isn't who is going to start from week to week, the issue is more long-term. Tyrod is NOT the answer long-term and every week he continues to show why....good to great QBs elevate the players, others simply play to the level that surrounds them. So, we can make all kinds of excuses for no Woods / Watkins / McCoy, yet teams like the Seahawks who routinely don't Draft WRs high and use late round or Undrafted WRs to go to and win Super Bowls.
  24. He took PEDs....well, they didn't help
