KW's statements are just one more example, in my opinion, why he has been the heartbeat of the Defense since his second year with the BILLS...the man has the right attitude, work ethic, talent and priorities to be a generally balanced man and excellent football player...there's a reason why he continually gets to wear the "C" on his jersey...it's for moments like these, AFTER he played very, very well on Sunday in Chicago.

The Pegulas FIRST move as owners has already taken place
BigBuff423 replied to MAGIC MAN's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree also overall with your statements, except one notable exception: I think it's too early to determine Kujo as a "whiff", you may be right but it is entirely too soon to make that assessment, IMHO...partly, because he's a Rookie, partly because he was late coming to football and by all accounts was still learning the position at Alabama despite starting and partly because, I think he will find a way onto this Offensive line either next year or the year after as a starter, be it Tackle or Guard... -
Regardless of opponent, I can't fault any "expert" to go against the BILLS until they consistently start winning, which to be honest probably transcends this season...that doesn't mean I can't completely see how the BILLS could be quite good in this game, but given Cameron Wake's unruly beating of Tom Brady and Moreno's rushing attack, I can also see how some - even fans on this board - could argue for Miami coming away with a win. Like others have said, I too don't think it would be a blow-out for either team, but would give the edge to the BILLS due to the emotions of this week and it being at home. However, again, I can understand the devil's advocate argument here as well.

This has nothing to do with Todd France, but I certainly hope the BILLS don't change GMs anytime soon. -
I would be surprised, given Pegula's apparent sense for honor, if the current stadium was re-named anything other than Ralph Wilson Stadium. However, as the NFL has continually pushed for a new stadium, and is most likely to occur at some point in the next 9 years, *THAT* stadium's name is very much up in the air and generating naming rights does sound like a good business move.

Multiple Reports : Pegula IS the new owner
BigBuff423 replied to FluffHead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I am elated at the news and almost as happy about the endless driveling debate about the possibility of the team moving being dead...killed...executed with no hope of revival. I am one of the fans who thinks Pegula has done and is doing a hell of a job with the Sabres, and while he gave Regir a little too long to prove his ineptness I do think it was in hopes of being fair and in trying to ferret out the true culprit of under-achieving with the hockey side of the operations. That said, I hope Pegula maintains a well-balanced and reasoned approach to the BILLS and before simply setting the team on fire to burn it all to the ground, he takes stock of its value and assesses the real issues and allows a thorough evaluation of the team and its operations before doing too much just for the sake of change. However, Mr. Pegula, thank you and welcome to one of the best fan bases in all of sports and this makes today a banner day....I'm sure RW is looking down with his own sense of relief and hope for the future while knowing his BILLS are now being transferred to a good steward who will work and allocate resources to win and bring a championship to Buffalo. Excellent day to be a BILLS fan, hopefully, just the second (the first was Sunday) of many more to come this year and for many years to follow.... -
Bills fans please post your thanks to Mary Wilson
BigBuff423 replied to 17 Josh Allen's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
A tremendous thank you to Mary Wilson and the trust for not only doing what I'm sure is desirable in obtaining a fair, competitive bid but more, allowing the team of the Buffalo BILLS to remain in Buffalo and relevant to fans entrenched in their history everywhere and for all of us who live a distance from Buffalo itself to remain deeply committed to the team. It really is a glorious day...from my fandom's deepest reaches, thank you, thank you, thank you. -

Corey Graham should start at CB opp Gilmore
BigBuff423 replied to 26TrapDraw's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree, that's nothing against McKelvin because I just think Gilmore is the better CB in the long-run and Graham proved he can play against big, fast outside WRs...and McKelvin really does well against guys in the slot, good...you need 3 good CBs these days, not just one or two anymore, so that allows him to be successful while addressing needs elsewhere... -

But to be fair, and you can read my own statements of reservations just a few posts above, that's what *good* teams do: they capitalize on the turnovers and make the opposing team pay for their mistake...b/c when you look at most NFL games, the Wins and Losses are generally divided by just a few key plays....I don't think it's "unsustainable", in fact I think what it does is highlight the difference between this team did yesterday and what they have not been able to do over the last few years: make turnovers into points, specifically TDs...now, if the BILLS can continue to do what they did yesterday by making the turnovers count, that's a legitimate concern in my mind.... -
+1....essentially, I was thinking the same thing. BILLS went out and got two very good WRs when they already had Woods and while I don't know what happened to Goodwin, he's a guy who can take the top off a Defense and is a strong, tough WR, plus the RBs you mentioned...Gragg, is one to keep an eye on...his Combine stats are pretty impressive, he was still injured for most of the year last year, and TEs typically take a couple years to develop...Julius Thomas and Jimmy Graham are just 2 that were Drafted in the 3rd / 4th round and took a couple years before they really came around and made some noise...

Yesterday's game was a big win...but it was just "one" win...that said, EJ was about as I had hoped him to be: not great, but solid and efficient on most throws as even Marrone said the INT was a "bad decision", but I won't hold one "bad decision" against a QB, especially a young and still developing one...what I was most encouraged about was his poise after the failed opening series and then coming in, on the road in a place the BILLS had never won, and orchestrating a TD drive...that showed growth in my mind. Also, I think it was 3rd and 2, and he throws a nice pass to Woods on the right sideline, and yes it was a little behind him, but not every throw has to be perfect. In fact, how many times have we lauded other WR efforts to help a young QB out as adjusts to the game?? Often if my memory serves me correctly...the run game was pretty solid, emphatically stamped by FJAX's run in OT...also, I liked seeing various WRs get the ball in key situations, Woods, MW, and Watkins once...that also meant to me EJ is learning to go through progressions, he's not there yet but I didn't expect him to be - I just expected him to be *better* and in many ways he looked it yesterday. I'm not ready to don my EJ Tin Foil cap just yet, but I am encouraged by his performance and that of the Offense overall...also, Defensively, McKelvin looks to be the Nickel Corner on this team and not Graham...when Gilmore comes back, it would appear Gilmore and Graham are the better outside Corners and McKelvin the better slot corner, IMHO....plus, I'm not sure Brown hasn't earned a spot in the starting LB core, even when Bradham returns...all in all, I think I understood the Defensive plan, especially after the first TD drive by the Bears: keep it in front of us, let them get yards if we have to, but don't get beat deep and tackle when you meet the guy with the ball....I didn't see much blitzing, but I truly believe that was more due to the fact of Jeffrey and Marshall for much of the game and Schwartz not wanting to leave them 1-on-1 and hope the front 4 could get some push, and many times they did...Sentreal Henderson looked decent, but his Rookie colors were showing and I'm concerned about Cameron Wake for next week, otherwise I think he was about as good as a Rookie RT can be expected, again IMHO.... On an off note, for all my EJ doubts and reservations and concerns I spouted during the Pre Season, I am more than willing to start an EJ Apology thread if after 8 games, during their bye week, EJ continues to play just at this level and the BILLS have a winning record or if they're losing but EJ has played very well....and another one at the end of the season for the same reasons with the same theme....you can put it on record, I will start the thread and offer my heavy, dry dose of crow to eat at that point re: EJ's play....but let's be clear, I never said EJ was a "bust" or would never amount to a good QB, but I absolutely did say I had my doubts about his ability *this* season, so based on his play and to some extent the BILLS record, I will start that thread and any others that would like to chime-in feel free at that point, and if it's a single and lone post, I'm good with that too...either way, I will publicly acknowledge my mistake and truthfully, I sincerely, desperately hope to start that thread on the Monday morning after their week 8 game, October 26th, against the JETS...now, let's see the BILLS put the Dolphins in a can and eat 'em for lunch! -

It isn't just Kouandjio not starting....

And that may very well be true, but if Henderson plays up to his potential and Glenn has the LT slot nailed down, that leaves a 2nd round pick in CK where? On the bench? If CK improves over time and with coaching and experience, hard to believe they leave him riding the pine...more likely in my mind, Cyril Richardson ends up at LG eventually and CK takes over Pears' spot when his contract either runs out or becomes too expensive because of CK's promise...just a guess....obviously. -

In the current P.C. climate, you may *not* want to use the term Redskins and "sold the farm" in the same sentence...might ruffle a few feathers -
I will say this: I have my reservations about EJ's ability to be a quality NFL Quarterback, but IF he does not succeed it will NOT be due to a lack of effort and positive attitude. I came away from the article with a greater respect for his personhood and have even higher hopes that he will succeed and be *that* Franchise QB we are all hoping he becomes...whether he executes such hope to the point of performance on game day, remains to be seen...but I respect his effort and work ethic and passion for the game all the more now, and hope even more for him to accomplish great things for himself and the BILLS. And, wouldn't it be the topping on the cake if ESPN or NFL Network did a piece on him after 12 or 13 games about how so many had given up on him in the media and to some extent the fans, only to be leading the BILLS on a playoff hunt?? That, would be nice and great story...either way, let's kick this sh*t off in Chi-Town and bring the Bears their first loss of the season!

Hey, Buffalo at night in late November and December is NOT a fun night to be had, especially if it's snowing...so, fine...let's play in the sun during the coldest time of year...I'm good with it. -

I'm not worried about CK, I do think at some point the BILLS will need to transition him to Guard, but IMHO CK will be a very good Guard in the years to come...not this year maybe, but as Pears ages out and the line transitions, I think CK will fill that void quite well...he's only been playing football for a relatively short time and already manned the one of the best Offensive lines in college football...give him some time to develop and be coached, and he'll be a good Guard in the NFL. -

I love the 1 p.m. start times...it brings back the sense of nostalgia and it helps keep the day interesting, more than just FF stats and highlights. I love seeing the BILLS play at 1, then to watch the 4 p.m. game while making dinner and eating, then when it gets down to the wire, my daughter is getting ready for bed, and if I miss a great play, it's not the BILLS so it's ok, and then put her to bed and watch the SNF game...to me, it's great. But even before I was married and had a child, I liked the 1 p.m. start time because it just isn't the same without the BILLS on during the afternoon, and those 4 p.m. games really screw with my schedule, always have even when I was in high school, so I like the 1 p.m. games.... -
Jerry Jones 'damn mad' about missing Johnny Manziel
BigBuff423 replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Jones' statements are an indication of exactly why you hire a Football GM and not make the picks yourself...Manziel was an emotional pick, Zack Martin for their Offensive line is a smart pick especially, when you already have Romo starting at his high salary...you don't need that type of circus whereas Martin is a good bet to start on your line and make the Offense better, but less flashy...in 5 years time, Jones will be congratulating his son on keeping on the straight-narrow-and steady trail instead of pushing the button on an "exciting" pick... -

Biggest NON-EJ worry for 2014

BILLS pushing Kiko back too early...or letting Kiko talk the staff into letting him play too early...this season is over for him...better to have him next year, fully healthy and fully rehabilitated with little concern for reinjuring the knee rather than losing him for 2 seasons, or worse his whole career for the sake of a couple games, he has too much promise in the long-run to risk it...
