Rosen's entitlement & wokeness will elevate the team. -

I have a theory, but it's really out there: Maybe he doesn't think the Bills are going to win a lot of games this year. I know it sounds nutty, but it could be true. He may think an overhauled offense with a lot of new starters might take a minute to come together, and that we still don't really know how Josh Allen will progress in year 2. -
That's fair, and a lot is unknown, but I do think we're better on paper than at this time last year. KB was a ? as he was a few years removed from his one good season, Foster was a UDFA with no expectations, Zay was coming off a terrible rookie campaign, and Kerley was a JAG. This year Brown's coming off a good season, Foster exceeded all expectations, Zay is still a ? but was much better last year, & Beasley > Kerley. It's certainly possible that this whole thing could go sideways, but I'm a lot more optimistic than last year.

Perhaps I'm in the minority, but I'm pretty happy about the WR situation. It's not perfect, but it's a vast improvement. We went from a bunch of borderline NFL players to a halfway decent squad, and we might be better than we think. Brown has struggled with injuries, but when healthy he might be the best WR in the AFCE. He's coming off a season where he was healthy for all 16 games & was highly productive until his QB was replaced by LamaRG3 who doesn't know he's allowed to throw to WRs. Robert Foster's the wild card. Was his performance down the stretch an aberation or his coming out party? The answer will go a long way to determining how good this WR group really is. Cole Beasley won't be an all-pro but he's a solid NFL receiver who is very good at the short underneath game. Zay Jones has been a disappointment, but he improved significantly from year 1 to year 2. Does he continue to improve? Hard to say, but I like him as a WR4. And there's plenty of intrigue beyond these guys. It'll be interesting to see if there's a hidden gem in the rest of the pack. Again, the situation isn't ideal, but Rome wasn't built in a day. It took a few seasons. But the arrow's pointing up.

Shaq Lawson Option decision week. What do you do?
Rob's House replied to Seoulful Soul's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think that's a fair assessment. A $10m guarantee on a 3 yr $15m +/- contract seems reasonable. It gives him financial security and still gives him a chance for a big contract in his prime if he performs. Of course he could decide to bet on himself and play out the season, and if so, so be it. The numbers I'm throwing out are somewhat arbitrary. I don't know exactly what his value is, but ~ $5m/yr seems a lot closer than $14 m for what he currently brings to the table. -

I'm sure you'd have to include some guaranteed money, like you would with most contract extensions, but I don't see how the option affects his market value if we don't exercise it. -
My concern is that with his combine measurements he'll be limited to a role as a football player. He's unlikely to offer anything in the track game.

It's more popular than you think. People just don't want to take the EJ approach to WR and pass up top talent at premium positions for the sake of taking a mediocre WR to say you did.

$14m for 3 years sounds about right. $14m for 1 year is crazy for a 4-3 DE who doesn't get consistent pressure on the QB. -
I now understand why the Bills passed on DK Metcalf

"The Bills are winning this Draft" - Per Matt Miller
Rob's House replied to Scorp83's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I can't remember being more satisfied with a draft in the immediate aftermath. The first 2 picks were exactly what I hoped for, & I'm optimistic about the other two. That said, we're all just guessing. Our opinions are like the pennies in your pocket - we've all got them & they aren't worth *****. -

Not the point of the post you responded to, but that's fine. -

Are you just throwing out non sequiturs or do you have a point? -

I hate Doug Whaley for bringing this crap discussion to the fanbase. After the Watkins trade, Whaley's ***** lice took to the internet to Clintonize the definition of "give up," in an effort to defend the deity that was Doug by minimizing the price of moving up. I doubt this conversation takes place elsewhere, and it's embarrassing. -
My sources say the Bills are interested in Metcalf and Dexter Lawrence.

Trade market for Rosen "soft"
Rob's House replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm curious how everyone knows what's going on in Rosen's head. I don't know what conversations they've had with him, and don't really care. If he's that rattled by all this to the point he can't lead the team, then he's a big kitty who was never worth a roster spot in the first place.
