He will be 28 to kick off the year. i don’t think he will be a Brady or manning that’s still at a high level 10 years from now I suspect we have this year with McDermott and then if that doesn’t get it then one rebuild before he’s past his prime. And realistically, if that rebuild doesn’t hit in the first 2 (maaaaybe 3)years, I don’t like our odds. And that’s a real bummer to think about. Drives me nuts how many fans didn’t want to push the chips all in a few years back because they were scared of the cap. It’s just not that much more fun to predictably be eliminated a couple weeks later than the 20 years prior.

Or, particularly in the case of Brady, he realized a year with Josh Allen ends in a head coaching job in a year if successful… while Atlanta maybe not so much

Bring him in come March. It’ll barely be a story. other signings would dwarf it. You get a couple random comments during OTAs and then it’s old news before the season.

Bills interview Mike Caldwell for Open DC Job

It could still be Rooney. They easily could’ve reached out to both to get the ball rolling and both responded positively so they went with it. and like you note, it could land in other capacities or it could be building the book on guys around the league -

I heard a story on npr on my drive the other day stating that cat lovers were showing support in the face of angry football fans and was pretty annoyed by the framing -
I enjoy Josh throwing a dart to win the game- and am totally here for it in the right context. my gripe is I call that play at 2:30 to go instead of burning clock to try to give mahomes the ball with 1:50 left either we play for that to be our last possession or we play for getting the ball back after a chiefs drive… to milk it down to giving the chiefs the last touch seemed like a much bigger fail than throwing that pass in general
-
he made the right read in the play call in theory the system/play call should have dictated the read be a smaller chunk probably, given that we just milked the clock to two minutes though. it wasn’t a bad play, but strategically the coaches didn’t sync the clock management and play calling strategy together well

Nyheim Hines will not be a cap casualty for FA (Edit: Wrong)
NoSaint replied to BillsFanForever19's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yea, I still think he could be a really nice fit in the offense as a pass catching back… but it’s just not unique enough of a skill set and he has enough question marks that his salary is like triple what it should slot up as compared to his peers. that Dorsey didn’t use him the way brady used our backs doesn’t worry me much - but it’s a major injury and now we have an established RB1 that I imagine will be working hard to round out his own pass catching to steal touches in that role. -

you think if we cut him he’s signing a top 10-15 contract? If not, you agree and just don’t like that you do. -

his 2024 base salary is slotted to be the 7th highest weekly paycheck for a running back in the entire league he will either need a drastic rework or new team. He can’t be a top ten salary and if cut not a single team would pay it. Knock on wood he sees that. they could cut his total cash payout next year in half and still be the 16th highest paid back in the league without being our starter. so yes. He could cut it in half and be too highly compensated. -

well, that’s his 2024 number as of today. this thread would be far more successful declaring he won’t be a cap casualty if he cuts his pay than declaring the bills have guaranteed him a spot I do think in reframing him though- had he been healthy it would’ve been really interesting to see Brady use him. The colts had him spending real time in the wr room. Now picture some of the totes we’ve seen from cook since the change in OC. That we never got a chance to see him used like that is a bummer. i guess maybe 2024 happens but a lot has to come together -
Tua vs. Dak , who gets the bigger new contract this offseason?
NoSaint replied to Chaos's topic in The Stadium Wall
it’s also to avoid the cap hit though. It’s a reality that tua on a rookie deal is valuable. Tua handed 250m becomes much less valuable But I think far less touch, not as able to make reads, etc… just not a great scheme for unless McDaniel were to rework it. He could apply pressure on a defense with him though I guess. -

yea, it feels like running off a timely streak saves him whereas if it was the same record with the losses spread across the season ending like it did we would be having serious talks. -
what do you think the odds of the fake punt working were? what do you think the odds of the offense getting 5 yards were?
-
I think the simple +2 calculation has to be viewed through the lens of his lead blockers being 2 third string linebackers and a third string DE on the side the play went to with our third string safety carrying id be curious a better view of who made up the defenders that stuffed the play but I bet it was people that tackle for a living on the chiefs side, and people that are not blockers on the bills side
