Ultimately it’s a few humans regulating the actions of a whole lot of humans. It won’t always be perfect or perfectly consistent - but hopefully it’s fair. In this case it was incredibly fair. As a fan, if you are seeking a PERFECT to the letter of the book game — you’ll never see it. And I don’t think you’d enjoy it all that much if you did.

Not unfair - I made similar points last night when people said the eagles took a bad risk on a play that didn’t work likewise said it about the pick where Gilmore was wrestling Jeffrey— theres a degree of luck with regards to exactly when moves work and don’t work but when a guy is being who he is— you kind of have to accept the good and bad

I figured that would get comments but dude has to be slightly aware of the fact that he’s breaking down. He’s got to be a 7.2 forty at this point, held together by duct tape and coming off a head injury Jokes (and serious comments) about him being a caveman aside— I could see him being a guy that gets that there’s something beyond football

He came into the league with health concerns and has been beat to hell. If he’s even a tiny bit smart he’s got to consider it. he seems to value some quality of life.

He was one of the best players out there tonight after making a key play to get there. Good for him.

Meh- if you are going to be aggressive you have to take the good with the bad and even worst case scenario was an easy kick. Continue to see creative calls and well managed risk.

Its a relatively simple rule. Almost all I’ve seen proposed are either more complicated or give the refs way more leeway. Control the ball, establish yourself in bounds and maintain through the fall if going down is damn easy. But you’re governing near infinite things simultaneously happening and not always clear to see. It’s one spot where changing tech has created a new challenge in a way most sports haven’t had to deal with.

But you and I will still see it. It’s going to be a real challenge for the Nfl to fix this with fans
