Zach Ertz about to be traded? [Edit: or Not]
NoSaint replied to Rubes's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don’t think anyone in the league thinks Knox is better, and the bills just traded their blocker. -
so much more - https://www.google.com/amp/s/syndication.bleacherreport.com/amp/2889029-what-sammy-watkins-believes.amp.html

Yup. Odds are both beas and sanders won’t be long term. Having a play maker that can ease into the group and learn in a great room wouldn’t bother me. Return some kicks, have a few packages and not have to carry the load day 1? I could see diggs-Davis-that guy being the trio in a year, easily, as a team building strategy.
-
we watched the bills lose in the playoffs with maybe zero healthy receivers. I don’t think it’s the priority to chase a premium guy at but if one lands in our lap I’m surely cool with that.

while there’s a difference when trying to establish culture vs fitting into existing culture.... he’s just soooooo far out there that I have a hard time seeing this one in particular. McD doesn’t seem like he’d work well with a guy that believes in alternate universes and lizard people, if making an exception. It’d have to be a huge value to consider it, I think.
-
just amazing what a physical specimen he is while being such an inconsistent and often small presence. dude is huge, and while he’s known to flash the immense potential, he also has stretches where he plays like he’s 5’2, 120 lbs and doesn’t have any instincts.
-
I’m cool with it as a decent upside backup with experience.

the saints and eagles are no longer in position to be great because of the qb position, primarily. If either team had a real starter this year they’d be handling things differently essentially all the marketing during the bad years worked, and now a lot of fans are paranoid about doing things that good teams do

The Bears Went HAM After Wilson, Still Came Up Empty Handed

His dead money this year makes it almost impossible wouldn’t be shocked to see it down the line though -
Would Mack even be there?
-
it’s a consideration, but even early in the year drew didn’t seem to fully trust him, which is a red flag. I don’t think sanders is a bum or anything but given the option, I wouldn’t hesitate saying brown is the guy I’d want this Sunday. and I’ve been one of browns critics too, with him being streaky outside that excellent year for us. I just think he’s got an extra step still, fits in the room, etc... but who knows behind the scenes.
-
having watched 100% of sanders snaps last year, I’m comfortable with my assessment sanders peak was excellent. Brown is still much closer to his ceiling though.
-
Sanders isn’t the Pilar of consistency either
-
He’s not as good as brown, but he’s an nfl starter on the outside and we needed one.

it’s amusing watching fans essentially point at a cash to cap strategy -
Updated (Hendrickson gone) crap load of teams in on Samuel

I would be cool with the jets overpaying him -
Taysom Hill gets $140 million over 4 years

it’s not so much motivational, as common sense negotiation. Everyone knows taysom is going to give 110%. taysom sees himself as a starting qb. To get him to tag 4 years onto the deal to achieve the accounting trick, it has to be reflective of how he sees his upside. if he plays as expected (not an entrenched starting qb) he gets his freedom to chase the next opportunity. If he shocks us, the saints didn’t screw him with a deal where the starter has a 4 year $20m contract and is holding out. it looks bizarre or like made up money but there’s plenty of rhyme and reason behind it -

this contract (ie the 12) was signed a year ago as an elite role player with possible qv upside. It was an over pay but that discussion is old history. -

Do you actually think he plays under that higher rate? the guys getting 12m for his qb play to day, and even that’s probably high but they didn’t want to eat dead money -

there’s no “getting away with” anything here.
