  1. Im not advocating for either, but check the made up rules at the door heck, we are all assuming davis steps all the way up too. Behind diggs none are proven. I’d bet on Davis but to bet on Davis AND someone else is a lot. If diggs went down for a few weeks it would likely put A LOT on josh to play make instead of just taking what’s there.
  2. he was making a joke in the tweet. He didn’t literally think he signed.
  3. Honestly, I don’t know the gap between punishments if he was drunk or soberly going 150 mph and killed someone. my gut says it can’t be they drastically different but you never know how local laws stack qualifiers
  4. we have a lot of slot depth, but behind diggs we have high hopes that Davis steps up and not a lot else?
  5. 5 years with elite training, eating prison food, missing the incremental changes in technique and verbiages hed be a big project, with big distractions and a very short shelf life.
  6. I agree. who knows. Injuries, coaches enabling him and who knows what kind of mess of pain killers, and steroids can’t be good for an already off kilter guy. but have to worry that losing structure, support, and having his identity out the window is a pretty huge risk for him it’ll likely never be a linear journey for him either way. Just hope the highs are high and the lows aren’t too low.
  7. Unfortunately, I suspect losing this structure will not be great for him… but who knows, maybe football was a contributor to his chaos and it will take some edge off
  8. and if the league pursues the situation with no regard for the year missed, we will see if players engage in the favor of stepping aside quietly or instead force their hands to make an official stance immediately in the process
  9. Counter: if it was a unilateral hold out he wouldn’t have been paid or accrued a season. they came to a mutual agreement. sitting out a full year in your prime, even if paid, is a consequence he’s experienced, however you quantify that If the texans wanted him on the field they could have fined him the whole way for not doing so though.
  10. I mean, if not in prison I’d rather most be on the football field instead of a myriad of other career paths. they should get the full weight of the legal system when they mess up but I don’t prefer they work in an office building, school or darn near anywhere besides getting clubbed in the head by other grown men. the money sure does make it a messier moral discussion but it’s a great spot for many to actually be placed on a “job duties and interaction with coworkers” consideration
  11. I mean, that would be 21-23 games missed. It would be among the longest non-prison stretches off the field in league history.
  12. i bet in the $9B budget they can absorb it. You really think it is a cost concern? it still comes with issues of when the play stops which isn’t a soccer concern. I’d be curious if it was helpful in usfl play
  13. it also sets the stage for dramatic free agency headlines, in addition to agents having incentive. You hype a guy as a huge story and suddenly you’ve manufactured future clicks. that said, he’s an excellent safety.
  14. to be fair, at this point they should generally have an idea of his preferred places. How many conversations with him do they need to make it happen? “hey where do you want to go or avoid” ”hey we are talking with this team you wanted if you want to have some chats with them about your contract”
  15. I feel like the pegulas are wealthy enough to get a can of paint and a ladder if needed. and even if the wall is permanent maybe we can just give all our first round picks the disgraced numbers on the wall to reinvigorate them with better associations
  16. my pup has had tplo on both knees. 3 years in a row June/July she had to go in (left knee popped, hardware had issues and was removed, right knee popped) our timeline all three times was kind of 4th of July to Labor Day being a real chore. On the bright side august in New Orleans isn’t a big outdoor activity window. The counter point- hurricane season with an 85 lbs mobility limited dog was an added headache (evacuation is an extra chore or staying put becomes a bigger liability if weather goes too far sideways).
  17. “Pretty much all” fading fast to “at least a couple” I think illustrates the point I was making. It’s a legal word that many of the general public unintentionally misuse to discuss almost any method of being persuasive or exerting pressure in any way. So i usually encourage folks to give it a google. if a woman did not go along, what consequence did they reasonably expect to face? It seems both sides agree that no form of threats of violence or physical consequence were levied. A huge number were not even professional massage providers to have career concerns (ie would he try to get them fired from an otherwise legit job with the texans). if the leaks are accurate that nfl lawyers did not accuse coercion, I think it’s fair to question why a message board poster is insisting “pretty much all” were subject to coercion.
  18. Frank turner is going fantastic so far in his 50 states in 50 days tour we will see how long that lasts but great at the moment
  19. We don’t have to walk down the path but I am admittedly curious if our split is on what we think he did or what we think the word means. I suspect in either case we aren’t far removed on overall take.
  20. indeed. It’s an easy out for them right? In a lose-lose situation letting someone else be the face has some appeal, right? Not my fault both sides are upset! It could be a chess move to protect the shield. that said, to the first part… was he gross in his methods of persuasion? Sure thing. Was this descriptive of his actions though: The statutory definition of coercion is fairly uniform among the states: the use of intimidation or threats to force (or prevent) someone to do something they have a legal right to do (or not to do). Charges typically are enhanced if physical force was used or threatened.
  21. I don’t mean to be a jerk, but genuinely encourage you to check the definition out. I think you’d feel differently about saying he coerced all of them. he was sketchy, and a jerk but he didn’t have much in the way of allegations of threatening behavior. I didn’t catch any consequences that would be levied for declining the offers. that’s not to say I approve of him at all but you’ve levied a specific accusation with the word
  22. no coercion, or force, and no punishment for the closest comparable while he sat out a year already… The nfl may have tanked this hearing so the judge wouldn’t punish and then the league wouldn’t have to take on responsibility for the decision
  23. I do believe the nfl does not want to go down this path either. Snyder and Kraft and all.
  24. hes already missed a full season. I can think of only a handful of players who have been absent for going on a second season due to conduct short of serving a prison sentence that lasted that long. That’s not nothing
  25. Watson could be permanently banished today and mayfield would still be traded
