I believe yesterday's roster decisions, and most significantly, the decision to keep Trent Murphy, is an exclamation point on your assessment. Our priority is winning - now, not saving money for next year. Sundays became exciting as soon as Beane and McDermott joined the Bills. Next week, Sundays will become thrilling.

I work for a biotech that is heavily involved in COVID test development and production. A problem (not the only one, but one) is tests being administered by unqualified people. That has led to false positives. Testing has to be conducted according to procedure, by qualified health professionals. Results have too many implications to not be taken seriously.

This is a fun list, for not having a first rounder. If we go the "big nickel" direction, it will tell me that McDermott is committed to a top three defense. I believe in our brain trust enough to celebrate whichever direction they go.

This is what made our quarterback purgatory all the more painful. E.J., Fitz and Tyrod are all good guys that I was proud to have on our team and wanted to see succeed. You know what? I'll accept this, despite its lack of big picture perspective. What I like best about McDermott, and Beane for that matter, is their self-critical thinking and their drive for continuous improvement. I totally buy into the organization now and believe McDermott will (probably already has) look in the mirror, dig deep and grow. He challenges himself that way and encourages his players to grow that way. That is his way and now the Bills way. He has a lot to improve on and he will. Super Bowl caliber.

I think this whole scene is an attention-getting charade by Brady. There is not a top tier team in the NFL that will offer him a contract. Also, there is not a team that will become top tier by signing Brady. His skills are diminishing and he would have to learn a new offense with its personnel. New England is his best option for winning and I believe he knows that. Any place that has a QB opening runs a significant risk of tarnishing his legacy. I foresee a big Patriot group hug coming.

I’m not smart enough to know if he is, or will be, the man at right tackle. `What I am is confident that Bills leadership will make the right decision and that he will be well coached. After 20 years of wishing, it is a nice feeling to have.

Thank you for the thoughtful answer. I do respect the deeper considerations. However, I am also jaded by privileged athletes (I was one) never having consequences and feeling immune to accountability. That is pretty much where I sit here. If he learned right from wrong and accountability, he still would have struggled with his demons (we all do), but multiple murders, wow. No about the shoes....

I watched the Netlfix series, while keeping up with this thread. I tried to consider the sympathetic points of view stated here and the "understanding" statements in the show. Hernandez murdered at will. He was nothing more than a consuming animal. The series was a boring, superficial, excuse-making waste of three hours of my life. He was given great gifts and used them to cause great harm. No excuses, no sympathy, and this is NOT must watch television.

His rate of improvement has been consistent from the first day he showed up. I don’t think motivation needs to be a question.
