The franchise tag is like $22M for a WR so Davante isn't likely to see much, if any, higher than that aav on a long term deal unless the guarantees are lower than normal. WR1 is still a difference making, big money position but the supply is getting better every season recently............that HAS to start impacting the top salaries for the position at some point. It may be this season.

Yep..........and I do believe Wyatt would be an excellent fit just like that...........and probably a nice replacement for Oliver himself when that day comes...........but a lot would have to be off the board to keep adding to a relative strength at a mid-value position when you can satisfy a long term solution at a high value position.

I agree that you don't use a first on a slot-only WR. But you thought Justin Jefferson was slot-only though too and he's turned into nearly the opposite..........a massive big play threat.........the top yardage producing WR in the entire NFL the past 2 seasons. Dotson is physically more likely to be slot-only than the long and lanky Jefferson was, IMO...........but if he tears it up in testing I will think higher of his chances to play all 3 spots.

Why has Juwan Howard not been fired and charged with assault?
BADOLBILZ replied to reddogblitz's topic in Off the Wall
1. Gard initiated a totally unnecessary physical confrontation. An old dog like Gard should know better than to do something like that in the heat of the moment. He likes to stir sh*t like that though...........and he surrounds himself with like minds.........his staff is a toxic environment with one assistant secretly recording their in-house fighting and another getting fired for using the "N-word" for some reason when addressing their mostly white team. Gard then proceeded to take no blame for his actions wrt Howard and insisted that Wisconsin pay his fine..........while Howard graciously apologized. 2. He was not wearing a McCoy jersey............did you wear your McCoy jersey when you took your partner out for fast casual dining on Valentine's Day? -
Article - Six free agents Buffalo should target
BADOLBILZ replied to BillsFan619's topic in The Stadium Wall
Fitz for league minimum. Berrios for 2 years $10M total. (Berrios agent is reportedly asking $9M per year from Jets) -
Humphrey was a better prospect. Also a tremendous wrestler and athlete but a legit 6'5" guy who could carry 320. Like Linderbaum, Humphrey was also considered a first rounder much of the time in the mocks the year before and leading up to his draft. Then it's draft day and most teams know not to select a center that high.

Why has Juwan Howard not been fired and charged with assault?
BADOLBILZ replied to reddogblitz's topic in Off the Wall
Yeah you don't ever........EVER..........put your hands on someone and steer them to address you when they are diffusing the situation by walking away from them unless you are in a position of authority with a badge or something. First.......that is initiated assault by Gard.......the letter of the law..........and that would be at least frowned upon if Gard was caught on tape pushing one of his own players as they walked past him.........let alone a peer at another university in Juwan Howard. Gard just thinks he's an authority figure over Howard for some reason. I had a guy do that ***** to me at a Bills game once when his drunk buddy was talking smack. He thought he was some kind of cop and ended up on his ass in a daze. Keep your hands to your damn self, Gardy. -
When do we start to re sign our free agents?
BADOLBILZ replied to Steptide's topic in The Stadium Wall
Right now agents are basically "unofficially" talking with ALL teams about the interest/values of the players they represent...........there is no rule against agents talking to GM's and no agent or GM is ever going to divulge the fact that they have discussed specific players.........but it's happening. So we usually don't start seeing re-signs until agents see who is interested in their players and how much interest they might get on the open market. If it looks like returning to the Bills is going to be the best option those agents will hustle back to Beane and try to get deals done before FA kicks off and they risk missing their window. Guessing a week before UFA......so like March 10 or so.........we will start to see some re-sign action. Others with more options may make tentative/handshake deals ahead of time to sign elsewhere or go into live free agency. -
Lotulelei is the worst Bills free agent signing contract ever. Some would argue Derrick Dockery.........but in reality he was an every snap player who answered the bell every week as a Bill.......32-for-32...........and the proof in his value was quickly getting another long term deal at big dollars at his release (5 year $26M). The contracts @Thurman#1mentioned are mostly random and impacted one salary cap season............Star has been killing the Bills books with middling play and then a lack of availability since 2019..........which is why Beane pay-cut him after that season in the first place. Star right now is a league minimum player on the open market..........and that market would be very narrow............if the Bills cut him and he tries to continue on.........the likelihood is he doesn't have a spot on an opening day NFL roster and has to settle for week-to-week paychecks as a post week 1 re-sign or practice squander.
-
The Bills are nearly at the point in their build where they are always going to be borrowing money against future cap dollars. That being the case...........you can't look at it simply as "well if we cut him now we only save $700K or $1.5M in cap space right now".................when keeping him this season also entails giving him $4.1M more in real dollars that count against their overall cap figure for the next 2 seasons. Cutting him before his roster bonus kicks in saves $4.1M total over the next 2 years of the salary cap regardless of how they choose to account for it. So the question is..........is he worth $4.1M in additional cap space at this point.

Is that double barreled virtue signaling? It's not consistent with your Nazi glorification theme. -

One UFA you'd like the Bills to sign? (realistically)

Andrew Norwell. But being a Cincinnati native he would seem like a more natural fit with the Bengals. -

Yeah........it was......the new coach is objectively handsome......a clear violation of the "Mark Davis Rule" on fair hiring practices...........your mind is in the gutter. Gronk to Buffalo hijack! -

Bills are the dominate team in 2022 -
There is a lot of demand...........there are also a lot of players who are going to be on the market. And not nearly as much money to go around as there was supposed to be. The Bengals have cap space.........but are notoriously "cash poor"..........have a suspect reputation and they have the worst facilities in the league.........so I don't think they are going to clean house in free agency. They've got a built in excuse........"we gotta pay Joe in 12 months".........and Mike Brown is the kinda' owner that will sell that one.

Questions Surrounding a New Stadium in OP .
BADOLBILZ replied to T master's topic in The Stadium Wall
When they built Rich with well over 80K capacity I'm sure they thought........."in 50 years the next stadium will only need to hold 60k". I hope you are right by the way..........my dream for the Bills fan base was for it to become it's own entity..........to embrace the "whatever" and just enjoy it together regardless of who owns the team or how sh*tty they play...........basically like the Cubs fans did for 80 years or so. That's why I embraced the goofy Bills Mafia thing.......I didn't care for the name but the objective is being achieved. That's how I look at the stadium and long term stability in WNY..........not saying I like what's coming. I just know how greed works..........it doesn't dissipate when it keeps coming that easy.........and the NFL is just scratching the surface on the potential of mining money DIRECTLY from fans and the model is going to be more like a Casino than what we currently see. Do you suppose the new Caesar's Lounge at Highmark this season will be an outdoor venue? -
Questions Surrounding a New Stadium in OP .
BADOLBILZ replied to T master's topic in The Stadium Wall
I just have 5 kids from mid-teens to 20's who are all likely to be in the target audience for selling out a stadium with expensive seating in the 2030's............their entertainment and creature comfort calendar is LOADED without even considering the Bills..............so I know for a fact they aren't sitting out in 0 degree weather in 2035 to watch a football game. Middle-aged and older fans ALWAYS want things to stay as close to the same as possible but No roof will no work long term........they are eventually going to need a lid on it if the season extends until March Madness........which is the natural progression. -
Let's try to keep the hyperbole to a dull roar. It will cost them more than they'd prefer to do both...........and might cause them to push money down the line and maybe let a player they don't want to lose leave in 5 years or something..........but instead of looking at the cap situation as $208M for 2022.........it's really more like $1.2B over the next 5 years.
-
If you have a reasonable opportunity...........you gotta' do both. Fixing the OL is FOR SURE a possibility........there will be options. Turning the top pressure producing DL into more than a top 10-12 sacking DL...........the list of players who can do that is small and that path is wrought with high cost and/or high risk. I know people think "well, the Chiefs did it, Melvin Ingram something......" but their sack production fell off dramatically this past season.........and it showed in the AFCCG when the not-too-slippery Joe Burrow escaped collapsing pockets against them.
