  1. Dorsey as a QB at The U under Chudzinski was a relatively weak armed passer who wasn't accurate outside the numbers so they worked the middle of the field hard.........having Jeremy Shockey and then Kellen Winslow Jr made that easy.
  2. The difference is last year they chose to run back most of the squad..........this year they have a ton of DL/LB free agents or possible releases(Hughes, Addison, Phillips, Obada, Butler, Lotulelei, Klein, Matakevich).......several OL who could be let go (Williams, Ford, Boettger)......only 3 WR's likely to be back(Diggs, Davis, Stevenson) and a starting CB who is also a free agent. Not a lot of key players likely to be lost but A LOT of depth. I would expect them to be able to roster all 9 of their picks this year and maybe even a UDFA or two...........because they aren't going to be able to keep $6M backup LB's and OL anymore. Those days ended this past season.
  3. This applies much better to UDFA's like Jason Peters than dude's who have eating issues and get $9M guaranteed going at the back end of round 1. $9M is don't-care-bout-criticism-til-walk-year kinda' money.
  4. Yeah Ted Washington was a different body type........his thighs were like tree trunks and he had 35" long arms and 11" hands so he could get very low and get under the pads of OL and man handle them despite being a relatively tall 6'4". I actually think Jordan Davis could turn into a really good pass rusher..........but will always struggle to anchor and dominate against the run if he can't find it in him to get low and play with leverage. In the other Davis thread I posted a link to Jordan Phillips highlights from college..........the two players tape looks remarkably similar...........in college Phillips could play tall and dominate just like Davis did...........and Phillips was characterized as a late first round 3-4 NT prospect..........but in the NFL he has really just developed into an oversized gap shooting 3 tech because he can't get low. When the Bills tried to use him at 1 tech guards would get into his chest and drive him out of the play.
  5. He was clocked at 20mph in the season........a 4.78 40 is the equivalent of running about 18.75 mph.........that's consistent with his in season clocking. The big problem with Davis is that he plays very tall.........so he doesn't play with leverage.......skinny track legs on a huge upper body.
  6. Pickens running a 4.4 after that ACL injury was one of the most impressive performances of the combine.............I wasn't sure he could run that BEFORE the injury..........I think he's in play for the Chiefs in round 1 even.
  7. I know a lot of people are certain that one of the non-playoff teams will grab Jameson Williams...........and all it takes is one...........but I just can't see a bunch of teams with GM's/HC's naturally on the hot seat.......or the early exit playoff teams with glaring needs......taking Williams in round 1. Let's face facts, they *might* have to redshirt him due to the combination of the injury while also being a rookie with relatively raw receiver skills and not having OTA's and training camp to get himself ready. The Henry Ruggs 400 yards as a rookie while Justin Jefferson breaks records 2020 experience should still be pretty fresh in people's minds. There are WR's who might be better overall players in the NFL AND will also be ready to go in OTA's. The line that might be able to justify taking him and letting him sit for a year probably begins at Buffalo. And I wouldn't even be surprised if he slipped until round 2. But again, I know it only takes 1.
  8. It was a great fit initially...........but I think that's Beasley's deal........everything is "the greatest ever" at first but after he settles in he just naturally gets disenchanted. Covid was just a conduit that ramped up that self destructive tendency, IMO. I've known people like that so I had that concern that this would be a short run when I saw how irrationally he treated Dallas after he left. His struggles with staying happy are a big theme in his relatively emo rap lyrics as well.
  9. FIFY No trade up AT ALL was necessary to get the best defensive player of the 2000's.
  10. No doubt he's a gamer between the lines but the combination of diminishing skills, expensive contract and being unhappy for the past year in Buffalo necessitates a change. I don't think we want to see what Cole Beasley looks like AFTER accepting a pay cut in exchange for some guarantees. He might pluck another tooth out, write a rap song about how racist Buffalo is to get Beane to cut him or pull a Richie Incognito and retire when it's too late to replace him.
  11. McDaniel took over Denver and stunned the league by indulging Jay Cutler's request for a trade (and also drafted Tebow in round 1 ).
  12. Hunter had like 1,000 cheaper shots than that Gronk one
  13. 150+ career NFL games and like 8,000 career snaps and that one incident showed his character. And yes your analogy was OUTRAGEOUS..........it could scarcely have made less sense. You'll just go on all day to try to find a way to rationalize it.........but there isn't a good reason to still cling to hate Gronk over what happened............it's not sensible.........just own the irrationality of it............then we can agree to agree that you are irrational. 😉
  14. Two pages and no thanks to @SDS for accepting YOU PEOPLE? Ingrates.
  15. Unguaranteed contract dollars are effectively a team option............everyone knows those aren't two-way agreements.............and he knew when he was flexing on twitter and averaging just 8 measly yards per catch and missing the most important regular season game of the year.............that he was risking that option being exercised.
  16. I would be interested in joining a class action suit against the Bills for making us watch "The Stampede" as a halftime show
  17. I'd love to see a link to the highlighted...........his reputation is quite the opposite...........all business and excellent preparation/study habits but a guy who enjoys himself fully in his free time.
  18. Here's the thing about that analogy...........the NFL is an extremely violent sport..........what Gronk did was illegal but it wasn't much different than what happened to receivers(or in this case interceptors) who fell down in the middle of the field with the ball for about the first 90 years of the NFL. It's not walking up and coldcocking a woman. Maybe if your daughter and fiancée were always physically assaulting each other then it doesn't seem so outrageously out of context when one of them cheap shots the other. The domestic environment is much different that a violent sport like football and it wasn't the intention of the analogy to equate the two. And context is ALSO important......White was all over Gronk........he was dragging behind Gronks stretched shirt and then faced him up and interfered with him again as the ball arrived..........it was a clearly missed hold and then a missed PI................and as Gronk said.......frustration boiled over and White was there with his ill-gotten gain on the ground and Gronk took a cheap shot a fraction of a second after one of his teammates touched White to make sure he was down. If Dawson Knox did the same thing to JC Jackson the same people hating Gronk would be insisting that he shouldn't even be suspended because the officials caused his act of frustration by blowing two obvious penalties on the same play...........therefore causing the melt down. That's how fans operate in the moment.........but for chrissakes 5 years later people should have some better perspective and be able to get over it.
  19. I saw the Frank Gore comps to Walker.........so he looks like a guy coming back from two torn up knees in an era where those were harder to recover from. It's a shame that Gore will only be remembered for being just that kind of high use, modest explosion kinda' back.............he was going to be Marshall Faulk with power before he blew out both his knees in college. Crazy to think how many yards he could have put up.
  20. Crazy Eddie is buying the Sabres from Pegula and a lot of prime commercial real estate in Buffalo.........he made a score with his real estate moves in DC.........maybe a stadium downtown isn't a necessity.
  21. 38 points per game would be a new NFL record...........it stands to reason that someone will do that in the near future, IMO............and it's do-able for the Bills in 2022 if they fix the OL issues that plagued them most of the season and add a bit more playmaking ability. But what they did at the end of the season required rushing Josh Allen about 10x per game, that is not sustainable.
  22. I've been talking about this for a while now...........but the financial day of reckoning for WR's is coming...........the pipeline is beginning to over-fill and even though WR's are huge difference makers, supply and demand still applies............anyone who pays $20M+ for a WR on a long term deal this winter is likely to regret it in a year or two. If I am Gabe Davis watching that combine yesterday..........I'm thinking I just lost some money down the road..........and may end up playing out my rookie contract before I get a new deal.
  23. One of the reasons the Bills are so vanilla up front is because Edmunds has been an unconscionably ineffective inside blitzer. McD used to love him so of those double A gap blitzes in Carolina...........but most great blitzers have an extraordinary sense for how the OL is going to react to them and are always one step ahead.......Edmunds has been totally devoid of that extra sense.
  24. Beane is squarely not-not in the camp that Edmunds can be elite.
