  1. He did have a 5 pick game, so he is at least at Peterman's level.
  2. Oh c'mon. He didn't have anything remotely resembling a big year. If you're going to puff your chest out and brag about being right about something, you need to concede where you've been wrong. Of course Tyrod and the offense missed him, because they missed having any quality receivers all year. They missed Woods and Goodwin too. They missed having a healthy Matthews all year, or a healthy Benjamin for the time they had him. Watkins remains someone whose perceived skills far outweigh the results he has shown on the field.
  3. Sorry if this has been posted already, but it is awesome.
  4. It is difficult to see that the Chargers' loss is the be all and end all since it was a blow out and it is hard to see how Taylor would have scored enough points, although the Bills' defense seems to just give up once it becomes clear the offense won't have enough gumption to score points. As for the Bengals/Ravens, a Bengals win is far more likely than losses from both the Titans and Chargers. Ravens did not look good at all against the Colts and the Bengals may actually want to send out Lewis with a win. Playoffs aren't likely, but if they do get in I kind of like the odds of making it to the second round given the opposition in the wild card games.
  5. Both the Jags and the Titans have schedules that look like they will both be 10-6. Ditto for Baltimore. A few weeks ago I thought 9-7 would get in, but not likely now. Tack on two losses to NE and playoffs missed no matter how the Bills do against the Fins and Colts.
  6. Unless God is a stud offensive lineman, or a gifted wide receiver, He ain't going to do Peterman much good on Sunday afternoons.
  7. Lesson to be learned: don't slip in your Peterman unless you're willing to live the consequences.
  8. Even though it is likely a futile act, when you still have a shot at the playoffs you have to go with the guy most likely to get you the win. That clearly isn't Peterman. It mostly likely will never be Peterman. I don't know what God he worships, but whomever He or She is, they certainly pulled a fast one on Nathan today.
  9. Henceforth whenever a rookie gets his first start and performs disastrously it will be known as pulling a Peterman.
  10. Of course, before he was hurt DeShaun Watson was doing just fine with receivers he never worked with before. Same with Dak Prescott the year before. And they didn't have multiple seasons in the NFL like Taylor has. I don't hate Taylor, but it is beyond obvious that he isn't a QB that leads a team to the playoffs. At best, he doesn't prevent them from making the playoffs (i.e., some other player or players are needed to take the Bills to the next level, we can't depend on Taylor to do it).
  11. 8-8 seems most realistic at this point. Schedule ahead is much harder than first 8, and the offense is truly awful. Like bottom 5 of the league awful.Maybe Benjamin will help a bit, but OL is mediocre at best, and Taylor simply isn't a quality QB.
  12. Taylor will never be more than an average QB, and the receivers are like a group of practice squad wannabees, but unless the Bills get a solid OL, rather than one that only is good against crappy defenses, the offense is never going to amount to much. Build a solid OL and the rest is so much easier.
  13. I guess it's gonna take a while to overcome Whaley's ineptitude and Ryan's buffoonery. I hope Beane and McDermott are up to the task.
  14. An old fart's perspective: Wray Carlton George Saimes Paul Maguire Elbert Dubenion I gave swimming lessons to the daughters of Saimes and Maguire, so there was a personal connection there.
  15. Agree totally. Proponents bring up concept of economic activity generated, but as explained in this opinion piece in Forbes, that generally is a scam. Taxpayers lose in financing stadiums
  16. Study after study shows that public financing is a losing financial proposition for cities and states, so I'm not sure what the spoils of being an NFL city really amount to. With that said, a small public contribution isn't terribly objectionable, but when you see how badly Las Vegas got bilked, as well as other cities mentioned in the article, you have to be concerned about how owners are able to extort dollars from the taxpayers.
  17. I would hate for the Bills to ever leave Buffalo, but this story just confirms how taxpayers gets screwed time and time again when it comes to public financing for stadiums. I'd rather the Bills leave than the taxpayers of Buffalo, Erie County or New York get fleeced just to build a play pen for the rich owners of a sports franchise. Nevada Taxpayers, Please Bend Over
  18. Screw the NFL. It's disgusting that these fat cat fat ass owners have to have luxurious palaces to that are used 10-12 times a year. The average fan, to the extent that the average fan can even afford to attend a game, really doesn't benefit from all the luxury, its the corporate sponsors and other rich A-Holes who really don't give a crap about the game that enjoy the real perks of the stadiums. Qualcomm may not have been a bit outdated, but for most fans who really are there just to watch the damn game it was just fine. I still follow the Bills because of my childhood memories, but I am so sick of big time sports and the entitlement mentality at all levels that they engender.
  19. As a U of A basketball fan I was happy for Solo, but yeah, that was just dumb. kinda proves my point (not suggesting people should pay to watch people teach, but you'd think education would have a higher priority than over-priced entertainment, as if watching the Bills for the past 17 years can be categorized as entertainment).
  20. Actually the answer is probably the O-Line. Dallas made sure they got a high quality O-Line and a rookie like Prescott was able to come in and perform admirably. Put Prescott behind the Bills' O-Line and he is more like Bortles or any number of other young QBs that occasionally look good but ultimately end up in Mediocre Acres.
  21. Would be a bit ironic if Taylor claims he is due his money as a result of the injury provision after whining about being benched in the Jets game. I'm pretty agnostic on Taylor, the Bills could be better, they could do worse, and it might help both sides to restructure the contract a bit since I don't think another team is going to pay Taylor $20M+ for next year and it will be difficult for the Bills to come up with a much better option for next year. Meanwhile, let that number sink in a bit. Taylor, a decent but clearly non-exceptional QB will make close to $30M next year if the Bills pick up the option. THIRTY MILLION DOLLARS! That's about the same amount as 600 teachers will make combined. Sure tells you that society's priorities are utterly screwed up.
  22. Sorry, but a few key differences when Gase made his decision: there was more time on the clock, so even if the Bills made a couple of first downs (which they did) the Dolphins had plenty of time to score, the Dolphins had 2 TOs remaining, while Buffalo only had 1, and finally, while a tie would not have clinched the playoffs for the Dolphins, it kept them in pretty good shape, and in fact they would have made the playoffs with a tie. Again, the key question is what was more likely, the Bills making it on 4th and 2 or the Bills getting a 3 and out AND getting a game winning FG? In my mind making the 4th and 2 was at least two or three times more likely than the later, and you don't give away your season playing the longshot. Not to mention that if the defense could get a 3 and out, it is not a cinch that Miami would have scored even if they had taken over on the Bills 41. No brainer in my mind.
  23. Just a damn shame the Bills didn't have a coach renowned for his defensive coaching prowess.
  24. 1. I am a bit baffled why Lynn would be considered a hot head coach commodity given that he has only been a coordinator for part of this year and he has been associated with Rex during Rex's unproductive period. 2. Not playing TT was such an obvious and smart decision, I have trouble seeing why anyone had a problem with it. It clearly made business sense, and even from TT's standpoint he had a very good game against the Dolphins and the Jets game could only have hurt him unless he suffered a serious injury that would result in his failure to pass a physical. 3. There are only a relatively small number of really functional NFL franchises, the ones that consistently are in the playoffs. The remaining 24 or so all have various problems that keep them from competing at a high level on a consistent basis. The Bills clearly have issues, although certainly not at the level of the Browns, Rams, 49ers or Jaguars. Let the dust settle before declaring the Bills DOA for next season. Ryan wasn't going to lead them anywhere, so it's not like they gave up the playoffs next year by firing him. What you fail to factor in is the fact that a tie was as bad as a loss. To win with punting away the ball with a little over 4 minutes remaining would have required (a) a good punt, (b) stopping the Dolphins with a 3 and out, © getting the ball back with I believe 1 time out in good field position, (d) advancing the ball into decent FG range, and (e) having Carpenter make the kick. I'd say the odds of making a 4th and 2 or 4th and 3 and accomplishing (d) and (e) was far far greater than accomplishing (a) through (e). Giving the Dolphins the ball back at the 41 was the least of the Bills' problems, again when you consider that a loss was no worse than a tie.
