The entire organization is just inept. You almost have to purposely screw things up to get a clusterf**k of an offense like this. They completely mishandled the QB situation and now you have guys who wouldn't be that good in a college game having to work with offensive talent that on its best days rises to barely below average. At this point the Bills are becoming like the old St. Louis Browns, perpetual doormats who never seriously challenge for a championship. Whether its the owners, the GM, or the coaches, there simply is no talent in the front office, which means there is less than adequate talent on the field. It's depressing as hell, and the rest of the season is a complete waste of everyone's time. Just awful.

Bills in White on White vs. the Colts
IronyAbounds replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Or perhaps just the crankiest. I must admit I still have the program from the first Bills game I attended in '62 against the Broncos and I still have incredible love for the old AFL. I also met Daryle Lamonica when he was a rookie and lived in the above the garage apartment of a friend's house. Imagine that today, a rookie in the NFL (or any major league) having to live above someone's garage. -

It isn't rude, it's old school, and I'm in agreement. There should be one uniform for home and one for away. The colleges are even worse. It's football, not a damn fashion show. -
Derek Anderson to start vs Colts

I'm not mocking anything. I'm just pissed that McDermott kept Peterman around because of his Faith. I don't care how many players thank God after a win for His help, God doesn't give a rat's ass who wins a sporting event. -
Not to be picky, but the glory years actually started in 64, with that year and 65 ending in championships. 66 was a heartbreaker as the Bills just missed out on making Super Bowl I. I know 64 well because we moved from Buffalo in the summer of 64 and since the Bills won in 64 I thought maybe we were the problem (my dad and I went to the Bills-Patriots playoff game in a very cold War Memorial in Dec. 63 and had to witness that loss personally). Anyhow, those were the glory years of Buffalo football in the sense they ended the season with a win and a championship.

Peterman Could Play in Indy

Allen looked very good today

Unfortunately for the Bills, and Allen for that matter, at this point it's Deadman's Curve. For some young QBs who are closer to a finished product experience by playing may work, but for someone so far from being ready it is more likely to make it less likely that he will be able to develop into anything. I don't think they are doing him any favors at this point. -
McDermott hangs up on Schopp and Bulldog

They're emboldened from getting Trump elected. The thought is they had done the near impossible with Trump's election, so now they're trying something superhuman and getting people to believe Peterman can be anything other than a punchline to a very sad joke. -

It appears that many people are cutting Allen considerably more slack than they did Manuel, who in his first year looked much better than Allen. Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that the offense assembled this year by McBeane is historically bad, but it isn't entirely clear how much of the ineptitude is due to the QBs and how much to overall lack of talent. The 2013 receiving corp, while not as bad as this year's bunch, still wasn't exactly a stellar group of studs. Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that Bills' fans just don't want to admit the FO screwed up yet again. -
Someone needs to be fired over Mahomes right now.
IronyAbounds replied to Klaista2k's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What you have described is the real reason McBeane need to be excoriated. Mahomes sat out a year and it obviously did him a world of good. KC also had a year to improve its offense in other ways so when Mahomes did start he had a stronger supporting cast. The Bills did neither. They have created a situation were Allen is clearly not even close to ready but is starting, and the offense is incredibly shaky in almost every other aspect. Organizational ineptitude couldn't be better illustrated. -
Is Nate Peteman the worst QB in NFL history?
IronyAbounds replied to bills6969's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
To be clear, I have zero problem with Peterman believing whatever he wants to believe, and I agree people shouldn't mock him for it. My problem was McDermott citing Peterman's strong faith as a reason why he was still around. If someone's religious belief is grounds for keeping someone on the roster, the Bills might as well line up next week with Pope Francis under center. -

Thing is you pump fake that throw you get a huge completion (assuming OL gives him the extra two seconds or so he would need). -

DCs who become head coaches have to hire talented OCs, just as OCs who become head coaches have to bring in a talented DC. McDermott has had two mediocre OCs so far, and neither he nor Beane seem to have a clue about bringing in offensive talent. -

I don't blame Peterman in the least. It's not his fault he lacks the talent to play QB in the NFL. I find his quote annoying, but really, the blame falls on McDermott for sticking with him and citing his faith as one reason why. I understand the concept of bringing in high character guys, but a roster full of Bible Thumpers isn't going to cut it. This is Exhibit No. 1,265,735 in support of the argument that the Bills' organization is at or certainly very near the bottom of the NFL. There is zero excuse for the front office putting together this offense, from a weak OL, to non-NFL receivers, to QBs who either are simply not ready to play in the NFL and perhaps may never be, in the case of Allen, or never will be ready to play in the NFL, in the case of Peterman. Starting the season with those two as your options is organizational malpractice and Bills' season ticket holders should file a class action suit asking for their money back. The defense is pretty darn good, but no defense can survive what is likely the worst offense in the history of the Bills, and that is saying something. -
Really, you guarantee that will happen based on what you've seen thus far? It is entirely possible, but to emphatically state it will happen is...strange to say the least, particularly when dealing with a QB from a lower tier conference who wasn't even a stud in that lower tier conference. I'm all for being patient, and Allen may eventually turn out to be the next Big Ben, but anyone who thinks its a certainty is arriving at a conclusion not supported by the evidence to date.

It's silly for anyone to say Allen will be a bust or a franchise QB at this point. There is not enough data and what data exists is mixed at best. Today's game was won by the defense, and the +2 in turnovers. I really don't see how anyone can say Allen's overall game contributed to the win. His stats were exactly the type that people roasted Taylor and Manuel over. Nonetheless, he didn't make a mistake that cost the Bills the game. It's just going to take time to sort out. I'm happy to take the win and move on. If the Bills can squeak out another win before the midway point, maybe then can go 6-2 down the stretch and see if 9-7 gets them in. It's a long shot, but things look better than they did after week 2, particularly on defense.
