  1. I'm generally about having patience, but I agree! Canning Crossman would have been a big statement to everyone about accountability! Our Special Teams have slid from among the most feared in the league to pretty much a joke...
  2. I want us to keep him, but the the year-end press conference made it seem less likely to me. Whaley said they would "make him a offer".... that sounds an awful lot like, we'll make him an offer, but we're not going to make him the highest paid safety in the league. I think Byrd rejects whatever offer is coming. I do hope we tag him and then we'll HAVE to trade him. I don't think it would go well if he was forced to play under the franchise tag again. If my assumptions are correct, then I wouldn't mind the OPs suggestion... Byrd plus our 3rd for a 1st. That seems like a good salvaging of the situation.... I'd certainly prefer that we were able to sign him though!
  3. Funny,... I always thought of Snyder as a bad owner, but when I look at your post, I guess you're right. These are the things we're often pleading with the Bills FO to do He also learned from earlier mistakes of getting too involved w/ the operations and has backed off during Shanahan's tenure leaving the "football guy" to run things. So what's the problem. Is Snyder all that different from say,... Terry Pegula??
  4. I agree with this order. While Kiko started the year on fire, he hit the rookie wall and tailed off as the year progressed. We talked about it on this board. At Week #10 the DROY would have been Kiko. However, Richardson continued to play very well and was even involved in the offense (Refrigerator-style), scoring a TD in Week 16 in their victory over the Dolphins. We got ourselves an awesome player, but the DROY not should go to Sheldon Richardson....
  5. I'd have to give Most Improved to Leodis McKelvin.... loving what Aaron Williams did as well though. McKelvin was a high 1st round pick that never started in his own right at CB. We had all given up on him. He was realistically primarily brought back because of PR skills. Maybe he could be a 3rd corner?!? And then he turns into arguably a Pro Bowl Shutdown NFL Cornerback!! I think that if there are Pro Bowl injury replacements at the position he stands a great chance of being added to the squad. WELL DONE!!
  6. I agree,... there was some questions on the year-end press conference that about how quick the hook has become on coaches in the NFL. Marrone responded that he spoke to Chudzinski (Brown's coach) last night who was fired after 1 year. I think when doing a complete look at the performance on the field, we'll be looking for a new ST coach. Just a few years ago the Bills had one of the most feared units in the NFL. There were times the last year under Gailey where teams were afraid to punt to McKelvin and I'm not sure he had a return over 20 yards this year. In the Cleveland game we were afraid to kick to their returners and I don't even want to talk about the Pats games this past week. Crossman HAS TO GO!
  7. Definitely agree,... I usually don't jump to wild conclusions and feel we should have a lot more patience w/ Marrone, EJ,... However if there's to be real accountability on this team, then Crossman should be fired!
  8. In all honesty, Cowher should stay right where he is... I think he would be as successful as Mike Shanahan if he came back. I'm fine with keeping Marrone,... there's no reason that he shouldn't be able to keep building. This team IS better than last year and will be better next year. We'll see lots of growth from first year players, coaches and schemes... Wow, now that's a b**ch slap...
  9. I agree... DPBEAR, you're helping to make Noodle's point, not rebutting it
  10. Definitely agree that this should have been a vote poll,... roughly looks like its running about 2/3 in favor. I think I'm in the No category, though I love Freddy as much as anyone. I hope he remains on the team and retires on his own terms as a Bill. With that said I also agree with a number of other posters. As the "heart and soul" of the team, his leadership hasn't effectively spread to the rest of the team nearly enough. -- He's never been to the Pro Bowl -- He's only had a single 1K season and that was only 1,062 -- He was only our leading rushing weapon for 3 seasons (Lynch was primary before and Spiller since) I looked back at our biggest games of the last 4 seasons (all losses),... when the whole season was on the line. Before 2009 Marshawn Lynch was the starter at RB -- 2012, week 14, we were 5-8, with three games to go against a weak St. Louis team... 9 rushes for 14 yd... 5 rec for 16 yds -- 2011, week 11, after 5-2 start we had lost 2 in a row to drop to 5-4 and going into Miami... we get blown out 35-8... 7 rushes for 17 yd... 5 rec for 50 yds -- 2010, week 8, season was shot early w/ 0-8 start, OT loss to Raves in wk 7, OT loss game at KC follows.... 20 rushes for 64 yd... 3 rec for 11 yds -- 2009, week 13, 4-8 coming off a strong victory over Dolphins, Jets at home, can't afford to lose any more... 13 rushes for 31 yd... 3 rec for 13 yds Perhaps I cherry-picked some games, but this is the closest I could come up with as Statement games given the Bills poor record over the last several years. I looked at the seasons progress and selected the game before looking at his stats in any of them. Freddy didn't distinguish himself in any of these games It has to be a No, though I would love to see him continue to work in the Bills organization long after he retires... Great topic for discussion!
  11. Jerry Hughes has delivered the vision! This is the article that should have been Maybin...
  12. Says it all about the FANS.... GO BILLS!
  13. Thats for certain! I can't stand people advocating to lose for a higher draft position. My confidence in this board has been re-affirmed!!
  14. Hmmm,.... that might be a mutually exclusive set of stats?? Unless we're fumbling on the 1yd or Manuel getting intercepted in the Pats endzone repeatedly. Not sure if that's worth it
  15. Recognizing everyone's desire for a highest draft pick we can get, I'd much rather the Bills win-out. I can't imagine anyone being excited about losing out just for a higher pick. The off season would be dominated by doubts about Marrone, QB, Front Office and 20 other things. There would be endless advocating to draft another QB with a high 1st round pick. Too depressing to stay on this board. If they win out, the team will be on an upswing. Manuel will have beaten NE in December on the road, with the Pats having a lot to play for. It'll be easier to believe that we're ready to take the next step with just a few more additions.... To me, the choice is easy
  16. You're right,... I think it was EJ Manuel that missed to block that got Moorman nailed?
  17. Wow! I usually hate these kinds of "doom" threads, but you pretty much hit the nail on the head.... unfortunately, well said!
  18. I've been a fan since the '70s.... Is there ever a time that Buffalo professional sports have been worse? I don't think I can recall a time when both the Bills and Sabres have been as depressing as right now. Just 2 years ago we felt that Gailey had the team on the upswing and with Pegula buying the Sabres and loosening the purse would bring the Sabres up to elite status... CRASH!
  19. Just looking at the latest Power Ranking.... bad losses to #20 Steelers, #23 Jets, #24 Browns, #31 Falcons,..... UGH. With #28 Bucs and #30 Jags coming next, I'd almost rather we were playing the 49ers or Seahawks,
  20. Not just the INTs, but Geno's fumbles... the one when he tried to put it behind his back as he was being sacked was unbelievable. I think EJ's been much better protecting the ball, which would be difference if the QBs were swapped.
  21. Uh yeah,... that. He didn't have to go much further than the final score to see your point.
  22. Upon further review, our QB choice is looking much better as the season has progressed. Geno is all kinds of bad... my favorite quote in the article attached is.... "According to numbers compiled by Reuben Frank of CSN Philly, Nick Foles still would have a higher passer rating than Smith if he threw an interception on his next 50 (!) pass attempts" That's the worst factual description of a QBs performance I think I've ever read. While last weeks' game was terrible in the ending and OT, we can at least say that EJ made the throws on both occasions that would have won the game for us.
  23. Also surprised nobody has owned up to Tim Tebow,... there was a LOT of talk on this board about us drafting him with our 2nd round pick and lots of advocates for it. He even went to dinner w/ Jim Kelly before the draft who gave him his blessing. Thank God the Broncos jumped up in the 1st round and took him saving us another snakebit story...
  24. Sorta on that note, mine would be Todd Collins. I thought that he would be a good successor to Kelly. I was working with a guy who knew Michigan football well at the time and he kept telling what a great pick we made snagging him. I thought the Bills should have given him more time to develop,... but clearly he never did beyond being an occasional back-up Good thread....
  25. Well,... he was legitimately in that conversation for that finite window of time.... then it unraveled for him
