It's one thing to break barriers. It is quite another to use a sport as a publicity stunt. It would seem the media leaks are in preparation for 15 minutes of fame.
There are no rules prohibiting gay players. Any coach would sign drag queen if he could throw 80 yard perfect spirals. No barrier. To me, pronouncing your sexuality in an arena where one is evaluated on performance and professionalism, indicates that you're not really here to play football.

Considering how thin our WR corps are, I wouldn't mind taking a chance on him for relatively cheap. You know, the WR corps that everyone was saying we had so much depth at before last season.
This ranks up there on the Who-cares-0'meter with the ever so newsworthy story about Obama confusing Star Trek/ Star Wars jargon. It must have been the slowest sports news day ever.
Urlacher couldn't be a downgrade compared to last year. At the very least he could mentor younger defensive players. Or at least that was the justification for Merriman's waste of space. I wouldn't mind James Harrison for the same reason: to instill a killer instinct in our spineless D.
I know they're not low cost, but I would kill to have any combination of James Harrison, Brian Urlacher, Karlos Dansby, Victor Butler. Instant LB respect. Well once we figure out if we're 3-4 or 4-3
It doesn't bother me how much he's paid as much as how little he's used. If we commit 4 million US (4.25 million Canadian) to a player, I want to see him at the very least, twice a drive. Trick plays, reverses, wildcat... utilize him. Often.
Exactly. A RB who has confidence doesn't care about losing some of the spotlight. Looks like he is having personal issues that he might need to work through before the season.
The last person who was mocked for just sayin' was actually typing. Even though they were saying what they were typing aloud. Still, the computer can't hear you, and neither can we. I carry on the tradition. Just typin'.
If someone hasn't already hypothesized it already, I wouldn't mind seeing James Harrison AND Urlacher in our LB corps if only for 1 year to mentor our younger players.
Agreed. Any current players on our team are lucky to be here and no other team would want them, so they're not going anywhere. Lets sign other players who don't know how horrible we are first.
