  1. but seriously though. maybe a conditional 7th. And I wonder if his contract tolls for this year, or maybe 2 years (last year and this year), so we still have cheap rookie years left.
  2. Isnt there an exception to freedom-of-contract, where a player is franchise tagged and then he and the team have a time limit, after which they cannot enter into a new contract for that season?
  3. YoloinOhio Its the goodhousekeeping seal of approval. When he got rid of the dog, I was lost for a while.
  4. Also, it has seemed many times that Toney has been described with words and phrases that are code for: Not Smart Enuf. As part of why he isnt on the field more, or isnt moved around more, isnt more than a one-trick pony, etc. (i dont have a link and refuse to look for one. We arent trading for Toney, and Giants likely wont trade him so soon. I hope they do trade him, though)
  5. To me, this is Anthony Lynn saying "I need to take a year or two, and actually learn modern offense. Especially how to run the ball"
  6. Disagree. 2 reasons. First, the higher pick has a higher trade value, so there is innate value in the pick Second, while you make a logical argument, this is not at all going to motivate teams to Not tank. That is the goal here. Find a way to make them not tank.
  7. In order to prevent tanking, The last place team cannot pick higher than 3rd, maybe.
  8. yes. maybe for Waiver priority, too. Just re-shuffle it every week. because . . . computers.
  9. I lived in San Diego for years. Before moving up to LA. san diego definitely has "weather arrogance" and its just as bad wrt fans of other teams. Partly because it is a military town. and football is better when LA has a team. Rams made perfect sense. There are tons of natural Rams fans in town, so it feels organic
  10. i would not be an accomplice. I would refuse to be involved. It would not be a conspiracy because I would not agree and i would not help. And slapping my secretary is a crime. Federal vs. State, or gravity of crime, dont matter. My boss wanted me to do somethinig unethical and not part of my job. I can choose several options there. Me myself, I would just ignore. In your analogy my bank-robber boss doesnt need my help to rob a bank if that's what he's gonna do. With Flores, the boss could not possibly have tanked without Flores. So, since my boss cannot slap my secretary without me (unless doing it herself), analogy apt. And as I said later, upthread, if there was a scheme to get my secretary slapped with or without me, then I would actively intercede. Because I would feel a duty to get involved beforehand. I dont think i have a duty to prevent somebody from bank robbery. So I would do what Flores did in the moment. Put Ross on "ignore"
  11. actually, no. I would not. Recognizing I might be in the minority there. But if it appeared to be part of a scheme, or there was a contest or somehting where it might actually happen, then I would prevent it. actively.
  12. Government work. When I worked for the govt., everybody knew who was getting the promotion. The same person who has been in line for it for a long time. But, as I learned when I started there, the office was required to post it to the public first, because public agency using public funds, etc.
  13. nah if my boss told me to slap my secretary in the face, i just wouldnt do it. If she told me to do it and she'd give me $10k, I would acknowledge that she said words to me in English, but I wouldnt do it. I would not feel the need to quit, or complain to some labor board. I would just keep doing my own job the best I could.
  14. wrt class action, I agree. Numerosity will be a huge problem but as far as racism, Flores isnt claiming damages for not being hired. He is alleging league-wide fraud and collusion and probably civil-rights violations. His objective would be to get to punitive damages phase. And or be able to leverage the threat of a LOT of depositions that the NFL wont want any part of.
  15. if true, makes me wonder if BB is thinking about retirement. separately, I'm wondering whether BB would actually prefer to retire in the same year as Brady, take some of Brady's shine, and end up in the HOF the same year as Brady. That would be oh-so delicious.
  16. this isnt a fender-bender case, so he doesnt have receipts for out-of-pocket expenses. Maybe he can argue lost wages. But If its civil rights litigation, then the jury will decide what his damages are. Especially if punitive damages are awarded (as they sometimes are for things like fraud or other misconduct).
  17. deep cover "cause its one-eight-seven on a undercover cop" 187 being the california penal code section for murder, and rap slang generally for murder.
  18. This question is really just asking: Would you rather NOT have a superbowl trophy, or win it with Tom Brady? I chose NOT.
  19. I want the Rams for one reason only: I dont want Tom Brady to be able to say he's he the only QB to win a superbowl in his home stadium.
  20. even though i picked niners, I preferred rams dont want Brady to be able to say he's the only one to win a home super bowl
  21. not me. i'll be happy. I likes me some old-school football.
  22. as conspiracy theories go, the Bills might be waiting in order to help him land on his feet. Counter to that, or perfectly consistent with that, Schoen interviewed him for NYG, to keep his name in the mix of sought-after candidates. If he gets fired it wont be because of Sunday.
  23. good pull. But I dont trust Rappaport to have read and digested the actual non-public and apparently non-filed-with-the-NFL-office contract. Seems like something the Saints fed to him, to keep saints fans from feeling like he is leaving to go somewhere specific.
  24. i think the starting point in the analysis is Sean Payton's actual contract. coaches dont have a CBA with standard provisions. They dont have a salary cap. Payton could easily have leveraged some out-clauses over the years.
