  1. this maybe McD has some lingering health problem and this is a just-in-case move. Maybe he learned during covid to always carry a spare And its probably best for chain-of-command for there to be no in-fighting among players or other coaches, if and when its necesary to pull over and put the donut on. --- because its less likely that they needed to do this to keep him from bolting to another team. seems like the season for hiring assistant coaches has passed. Not that i've studied it or anything
  2. the color is excellent the logo is bad. its not distinctive. If i saw it from far away i wouldnt know what team it was. CFL? College? XFL?
  3. for some players, there's never an off-season.
  4. this is the Chris Simms and Rod Woodson version of Offense Align
  5. isnt "I love you like a brother' usually followed by, "but . . . ?" isnt it code for '. . . but as brothers know. Brothers fight. A lot. And hard. but after i kick his ass, i still love him'
  6. an earlier poster noted that McD was asked 'does Diggs' absence concern you?" So McD did not choose the word 'concerning' out of thin air. If anything, it was a skilled question and caught McD slippin a bit.
  7. except, the contract itself can provide, for valuable consideration, that it is a team option to restructure. ex: Addendum Q. player herein agrees that CLUB may, at anytime and for any reason, with or without notice to Player, restructure the payments due under this contract, according to the following formula: blah blah blah. --- Phone call to Agent: "hey Agent, just letting you know we're gonna go ahead and exercise Addendum Q. We're gonna do it March 15. We'll give you a reminder on the day before we do it. Thanks buddy" Agent: "thanks Beane. We'll go ahead and announce that we have agreed to restructure" Beane: "sure. fine. whatever." [even though technically, you 'agreed' to this when you signed the original contract]
  8. continuing this line of inquiry, and incorporating today's stuff [i havent thought this to conclusion yet. but it seems fertile ground]: Does Diggs think / believe / know that JA has a substance problem and isnt getting the treatment that JA promised Diggs he would get? Why is Diggs not out with tweets or medie leaks that he also LOVES JA? Doesnt JA sound apologetic, a bit? Doeth he protest too much? Doesnt JA sound like Favre used to (when he was addicted to painkillers) a bit? Big, Broad, He-Man statements with zero substance. Is that why Diggs showed up, saw all he needed to see, and broke out? Does this explain why Diggs has not asked for more money and has not asked to be traded? Diggs wants to WIN. this place is perfect. As long as QB1 is all in. Is this why McD sounded defensive and/or angry. That he doesnt want stuff about JA to get out there? Or that McD is Also annoyed at JA but prefers to handle it in house. Diggs sees that McD's 'handling' isnt working Is this why JA's girlfriend left?
  9. Conspiracy Theory: Did Diggs want his WR coach to be elevated to OC instead of Dorsey? Which is why Hall ended up leaving? Which is why Diggs is like "Dammit !! I TOLD you." And maybe Diggs favored Hall's offensive concepts which were WR-coach-centered, versus Dorsey (former QB) and a qb-centered offense hmmmmm
  10. Hall probably thinks: If you put THAT guy over me for OC, i see how it is In jacksonville, I get to Learn my ass off, from a SB winning head coach. with a whole different system maybe. And live in a warm tax free state. And leaving shows i am ambitious. Which is a good, manly, testosterone, leader-of-men type of trait in this league. So I'm showing it. And in terms of staying under Dorsey, while dorsey sucks, I say 'why should Hall make his resume Worse?' If youre gonna gtfo, now is the time. And wtf would he have learned under Dorsey anyway, except how to suck? In fairness, Hall could have learned everything to Not do, if Dorsey sucked. But that cuts against improving his resume, or implying Hall has a genius 3D chess type reason.
  11. why today though? the legal process moves slowly. There are daily flights to/from Dallas we do have video chat now i mean, even if his brother got re-arrested last night, that's what lawyers are for Even if today was super important for his brother, unless today was the first day of trial, And diggs tried to get the day off and the Bills said "no," And if Diggs was gonna attend his brother, why fly all the way to Buffalo for a half day? And why would JA feel the need to leak / tweet every hour if it were Diggs personal private family business. I mean, we all know how those issues are handled in the press for an excused absence due to personal issues. And those dont usually include flying all the way to the team facility for an hour, before going back home.
  12. its about the offensive mind. the offensive creativity. I am sold on the arguments that if you have a great qb, you throw everything into continuity and constant innovation on that side of the ball. That way, at least i would know i tried my very very best to maximize my great qb.
  13. I suspect its hard, when you have daydreamed and planned for your life after football with 70 million in your nest, to dial it all the way back to 10 Million It must be like hitting the powerball for 100 million. Then two days later, after you've planned every dollar in your mind and who gets what, etc., you find out 19 other people hit it too, so its a 20 way split.
  14. yes a thousand times, yes. yes, please. and i dont mind McD so much. But i woulda fired mike Tomlin, or probably even 80 year old Belichick, to get Payton. The only coaches i would not have fired for Sean Payton are Andy Reid and Kyle Shanahan. And yes, Harbaugh would get fired too.
  15. This is exactly why, for me, its Not the Vikings I dont want anyone anytime anywhere to win its first before I get my first. So of the teams left, I say Chicago. Great city. It would be fun to see a cold-outdoor team do well. And the NFL is better when the Bears are relevant. Its still the 3rd biggest city in America.
  16. . . . I gotta be thinkin Most teams would which is why Floyd got signed first. Clark was the consolation prize among his peers.
  17. This training should be free. i remember during college i called the red cross to get the training. just, because. I would like to know CPR just in case. its an available thing to learn, i might need it one day, so i have zero reason not to. Found out they charge for it. and it wasnt cheap. probably the equivalent of $95 today. I have looked into it a couple times since college and its still a pay class, and its still nowhere near cheap. Not politics here, but of all of the free government programs, public libraries is always number 1 but lifesaving should be waaaaaaaaay up there.
  18. doesnt have to be dollar-for-dollar. But you get my point.
  19. the Bolded part made me think: if Mahomes is smart (or his handlers are smart and he's smart enuf to listen), then Mahomes should tell his entire family that they only get to live off his Endorsement money. I suspect this would straighten them out. Since currently, they dont seem to GAF about Pat's image. Since they probably livin off his guaranteed football $$
  20. furthermore, it sounds like (from the other thread about UDFA) that that 6'6" receiver who we got as UDFA on a 3 year deal is the new special teams gunner. dont see where Shorter will fit. He's only a 5th round draft pick. Who as was mentioned upthread, is "a big receiver who is not good at football." Perhaps I can dilute it by saying "Shorter will not see the field" but that's only if McBeane wanna try to salvage value by telling themselves he will get better, so they keep him as a perpetual game-day inactive player. But it wont take 4 years, like it did for Edmunds.
  21. I predict that Shorter will not make the team. He is not a hands catcher. Not at all. Its like he brings every ball into his stomach. Even on Slants, he will fall/slide down in order to be in position to catch it where he is comfortable catching it. In his mid-section. beyond that, there is nothing athletic about him at all. He moves like a slow TE3.
  22. Of course Fitz has been thinking. I mean, he did go to Yale, in case you hadnt heard.
