  1. very eloquently stated. I will add (clarify?) that, the problem is that Tyrod did these things to benefit Tyrod. Not to be smart within the offense.
  2. imagine if we had this. Right now. i would swap this for Diggs, Davis, and (shakir / stedford (?) / whoever) right now. Especially if you let me keep at least one of our 2 tight ends. And Diggs is my favorite player on the Bills, and has been since the day he got here.
  3. this is exactly the problem. He never wanted to be great, or as good as he could be. Because that involved risk. He wanted to be good enuf to maximize his earn as a career backup. And no sarcasm, but he was great at that.
  4. fair enuf i guess if TB is there and you Still get fired, it says a lot. I do hope he gets fired. Just . . . cuz. Popcorn something something, even though the raiders are irrelevant
  5. will Tom Brady have any input here? And if so, which side of the scale will have his thumbprint?
  6. agree with these (and i changed your predicted win totals slightly). In order most likely: Baltimore misses the playoffs. Unlike KC with Kelce, you Can take Andrews away from Lamar. And after that . . . nothin. NYG will be lucky if they win 6 games. Because its like the pre-season predictions where the win totals for the league are more than the losses. Somebody gotta lose a whole buncha games this year.
  7. failing restaurants do this. They cut quantity. Then cut quality. Because that's how you INCREASE business? it is exactly 180 degress the Wrong thing to do. If you plan to stay in business, that is.
  8. their likelihood of winning a "home" game in front of fans they want to impress would go down. possibly their motivation to win would increase. possibly lots of things. But if i'm the NFL i would have considered it. And the foothold in Europe would have tipped my scale.
  9. Diggs is not a leader. He doesnt have those skills. But its not really in his job duties, either. He wasnt hired to be one. Even a "process" team is not likely to have 53 leaders. During the drought and at other times, some of us complain that we dont have enough 'bad boys' to win a championship. Well, we have one. One who is supremely skilled. One who burns to win a championship (instead of harnessing his skills just for money). And whose "bad" does not include drugs or violence. Just distrations. which a Process team should be able to absorb and handle. I say its a net win.
  10. au contraire. It feels frustratingly like we are Not spending properly to get a superbowl This year. over the past couple years. it feels like we are doing nothing to win the superbowl This year. We are only making moves to be "competitive" this year. A team that bases its season on "make the playoffs and anything can happen" is not loading up to win the superbowl This year. It doesnt require buying a superbowl like the Rams. But many of us think the money must be better spent. On difference-makers. Of which, if von is perfectly healthy we will have exactly 3. That's not enough to win the superbowl This year. Its only enough to be consistently above average, if everything else goes right. ------ Put another way: Right now, Andy Reid's whole life is "we are winning the superbowl This year, unless some crazy shtt happens."
  11. as Florio has taught me to view it, 4 weeks (instead of 6) is likely a negotiated resolution of his appeal. And yes, as pointed out in a couple spots above, it was probably planned by the NFL to coincide with our game vs Jags. In fact, a shrewd agent might have reminded the NFL of that fact, and confidently told his client "no way on earth they dont put it at 4, max, because of that Bills game on the schedule". to maximize the value and fan interest in the London Jag-yew-ahrs. that foothold in europe is critical to the long view.
  12. yeah. he was supposed to be the heir-apparent to Jim Lampley / larry merchant. As the next big boxing commentator https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2210468-ranking-the-best-commentators-in-boxing-today That ranking is from 2014. I'm guessing that with the decline in boxing and the surge in UFC type fighting, Kellerman struggled to find another niche. And failed. I did enjoy him on morning radio with Marcellus Wiley here in L.A. a few years ago. He was smart and Marcellus was gregarious and smart and drunk (self-admittedly, on the air. "I think when I drink" and "you know me. I gotta stay hydrated")
  13. Risk Averse. So obviously. Tyrod played like (1) he decided in college to be a career NFL backup quarterback. Look like you burn to start but, when you do, do Nothing to eff up the gravy train. Do not hurt my body and do not hurt my stats. Look and talk and act like a leader. (2) he did not love football. This is not to say he was not a man. He had toughness. But he never put the ball in harm's way. I used to joke that, to Tyrod, the football was his newborn baby daughter. He might consider handing it to you. But to throw it ??!! To Tyrod, there's 75 things that can go wrong from throwing, and only one good.
  14. I dont know about that. My friends' lives seem to be lots better. Niners fans. Bears fans. Even Jets fans. I have only won championships or trophies a couple times. Mostly in middle school or high school. And I will never ever forget them. My life IS better because i won a high school chess trophy in the City of Buffalo in the 1980s. Not saying my life IS better objectively or on a scale. But i am MUCH happier with the memories and with having been a champion at at least one thing.
  15. funny in trying to answer, i realized I'm still not over it. I was trying hard to give a non-emotional answer. And i couldnt. voted anyway. My anger voted "bad." Technically, all you can say is "we were definitely better than 15 other teams, 4 years in a row." (which is stupid and i know better. But I'm still mad)
  16. I disagreed with your statement. But i wanna make sure you are limiting it to CBs. In this day and age, your Nickel CB is a starter. And he'd better be starter quality, at least. And with the TE position being like a 4th WR, and also the defensive position (real or planned by McD) of "big-nickel" and yeah. I prefer 3-4 starters. We dont really need a star. No team does at CB. Of course if you have one (sauce gardner) you can plan your defense around him. But that was already your defene probably. That's why you drafted him. --- otoh, if your statement applies to other positions, That sounds like a juicy thread topic.
  17. once again, as i stated earlier, This. ^^^ agree to disagree on the specific instance of one team switching lines with us.
  18. nah this is what fans do to have discourse on a fan website. Otherwise i coulda just replied to the OP with "no." What fun would That be? or to your bigger point, yes. The Bills could save us all a whole lotta grief.
  19. i hope not. I dont want to be proven right. I hope its not too late to add a weapon. or a playmaker (leonard floyd is a good start). Not a personnel guru so i cant name names. But i hope something changes because these weapons and these defenders arent enuf.
  20. at no point did i say that Hurts would outplay Allen I said, and still say, that the Eagles would still beat the Bills if the teams switched lines. This is not a thread about comparing two teams, per se. It is about whether we did enough to Win the Super Bowl This year. My point is that, no matter whose O-Line we have, the rest of the team as constituted is not winning the superbowl This year.
  21. yes. yes i am. because the eagles will at least make a few plays on defense. Because the eagles' offense has better weapons. Because Jalen Can run, if necessary. he is no statue. And yes, if the Bills' defense cant make plays against a bad team with a bad line (or even a bad team with a good line), how can they make plays against a very good team with a bad line? We need 2 things. Defensive playmakers (and for them to make plays, since our defense is not predicated on dictating terms), and Weapons. An O-line is probably 4th but, since we have a defensive coach who should be able to mask problems with any defensive group, l'll put O-line third in importance.
  22. I disagree with each of your points. I'm not sure what the first one even means, but how do you propose to stop the Niners offense if we swapped? We would Not beat the Eagles if we swapped offensive lines. Their defenders actually make plays. Their weapons are better than ours. But i dont care about rivals. I care about winning the superbowl This year. I'm not talking about the next 5-10 years. And even still, if we swapped O-line with the Bengals this year, do we Win the Superbowl this year? I dont think so. because we still wouldnt have weapons needed nor playmakers needed.
  23. did we do enough What, exactly? getting Where, exactly? Did the team improve? maybe, but that should not be the question. Did we do enough to Win the Superbowl This Year. I know the implied question is this. But way more specifically, did we improve this unit enough to win it all? And is this even the best question to ask? I dont think it is. I'm not convinced that even if we swapped offensive lines with the Chiefs, or Bengals, or Eagles, or Niners, that we could beat any of them. We need weapons. And we need playmakers on Defense (who do actually make plays. Besides Milano. We do have good players.) give me both of these, even with last year's O-Line, and we win this year (because one without the other is not gonna win this team a superbowl This year. But weapons is the way more important of the two. we are wasting a generational talent).
  24. this and this. And for the evaluators on this site, can White be a safety? As Ethan suggests? He is smart in this defense. But body-type, movement, communication, etc, is it reasonable? (not asking whether he should. not asking whether he would want to)
  25. Just imagine how, from afar, it must be laughable to watch teams like the Bills continue to patch holes. Like the O-Line and WR are old tires or jeans. Just enough so we dont embarass ourselves on the field. But it does embarass us as an organization, if that organization is about Winning the Superbowl Right Now. Because this mentality is only really saying "as long as we're good enuf to make the playoffs healthy. Because anything can happen." As i think about it . . . we're kinda the Seahawks. -Defense -Conservative offense with the occasional deep shot. -Let Russ / Josh cook ------ and not to strain an analogy, but its kinda like we're in the prison yard. [i have never been in jail, myself] If you have beef with the Chiefs or Bengals or 49ers or Eagles, this could literally be the last day of your life. But if you are up against the Bills or Seahawks or Broncos or Cowboys, its gonna be a good fight. and we might just surprise you. We'll make you earn it, at least.
