  1. man times sure have changed. Today if the bills backed into the playoffs at 7-9 on a 4 game losing streak with a 3rd string QB playing the game would be a sellout and the tailgating would be off the chain goddamn were so starved for playoff football
  2. Interesting. Ive been a big fan of Stevie Johnson over the years but I've done a 180 on him over the last year or two. The dude is a good WR and certainly a WR2 if not a low end WR1 but the drops he has on his resume at the most critical times are just killing it for me. Stevie has been lectured time and time again that he needs to adjust his mentality and act more like a professional and time and time again he keeps making hte same boneheaded mistakes(remember when he said they should nuke boston?). Eventually you get to the point where you gotta sever ties even though you know the guy has talent, I think marrone knows that a guy like Stevie is a cancer in the locker room as for other players on the team who fit the bill of getting the axe: Chandler (too many drops....player left over from old regime who was never really that great anyways), Searcy (not great in coverage, taken a couple bad penalties...old regime leftover), TJ Graham ( I know it, you know, marrone knows it...hes not going to ever be a good WR), lastly...both of our LGs will not be a starter on this team next season.
  3. Kelly couldnt have been the player he was without Thomas and Reed Thomas couldnt have been the player he was without Kelly and Reed Reed couldnt have been the player he was without Kelly and Thomas 2 out of the 3 are in the HOF...it blows my mind that Reed hasnt gotten in yet. Out of the 3 I think Thomas was the most revolutionizing player...he changed the way RB was played
  4. A catch to me should be full possession of the ball with two feet in bounds, the ball must be in control when the receiver either goes out of bounds or hits the ground with either his knee/butt/elbow etc... any point in time after this...whether it be sliding on the ground, rolling, etc and the ball jars loose it shoulod be considered either down by contact (if hes been touched) or a fumble... Essentially, Had goodwin not been touched on the play by the Chiefs DB then him loosing the ball would have been a fumble on the field rather than an incomplete pass. The way the rules are written right now...if a receiver makes a catch going out of bounds and hits a cameraman or another player and looses the ball it should be ruled an incomplete pass. How crazy is that?!
  5. Ok so I am still having a hard time grasping how the hell Marquis Goodwins catch was overruled as an incomplete pass. If you watched the NE vs Pitt game today there was a play that occured that makes everything all the more confusing. The highlight starts at 1:16. http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/2013110309/2013/REG9/steelers@patriots#menu=highlights&tab=recap How could Goodwins play get called as an incomplete pass when he maintained full position throughout 95% of of his fall and slide, while Ridley caught a ball..made no football move, had the ball knocked out of his hands...and somehow its ruled a fumble. Throw in Calvin Johnsons one handed catch that got knocked down as he falls to the ground seen here: nd I ask myself...what the hell is a "catch" in the NFL???!?! Sometimes i feel like the refs dont even know... which leads me to conclude that if it looks like a catch to the fans at home watching on tv...it probably is...or isnt.
  6. For for this bills coaching staff to show us all what theyre made of. If we can pull off a W with Tuel running our offense that'll sure go a long way towards making believe we could make a playoff push this year.
  7. CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reports Jeff Tuel will start at quarterback for Sunday's game against the Chiefs. Tuel struggled mightily filling in for E.J. Manuel in Week 5, so expect the Bills to go run-heavy behind C.J. Spiller and Fred Jackson. Thad Lewis (ribs) returned to practice Friday, but is listed as doubtful and not expected to start. Matt Flynn will serve as the No. 2 quarterback this week
  8. Marrone's fate is tied to EJ Coaches live and die with the QB's they choose to lead their squads. It doesnt really matter if hes a nice guy or smart with X and O's. He will be fired from his job at some point (whether its 10-15+ years down the line I cant say) and it will all be tied to his QB.
  9. Im pretty sure when Cam Newton was drafted there was a story about Jerry Richardson (the owner) asking Cam not to get any tattoos so he could set a good example of a franchise QB. Im neither for or against tattoos but a lot of people associate them with gangs and they often give the wearer a negative connotation and stereotype. Being that EJ is a black starting QB in the NFL, maybe he is trying to set an example or something Idk im throwing darts, maybe he just likes wearing those bands cuz they look cool and protect his tattoos from UV exposure.
  10. Aside from Adrian Peterson most of the leagues tops backs struggled today: Lynch 17 carries 43 yds 2.5 avg Gore 21 carries 44 yds 2.1 avg C Johnson 25 carries 70 yds 2.8 avg MJD 15 carries 45 yds 3.0 avg Doug Martin 24 carries 65 yds 2.7 avg Matt Forte 19 carries 50 yds 2.6 avg Trent Richardson 13 carries 47 yds 3.6 avg Thats a pretty brutal start for a bunch of guys who were drafted in the top 15 of fantasy drafts this year. CJ will be fine....he had way too many designed carries inside today...If hackett is any good as an OC he'll be figuring out ways to get CJ the ball in space like Gailey did.
  11. Hacketts use of Spiller was baffling at times. I know we were trying to keep things simplified today to minimize mental errors but every one of CJ's carries was a read option run to the inside and a meager 2-3 yards. CJs skillset is all about getting him into space, where were the runs designed to the outside today? Playcalling was not diversified enough today and that is why we ended up losing. Stevies drop was a killer as well.
  12. I'm gonna take a different outlook on this whole situation. I think that once Byrd gets on the field and starts to play the game again a lot of this bad juju that's been hanging over this whole situation will blow over. Parker is notorious for using every piece of leverage he has to get top dollar for his clients, but reality is the bills hold all the cards so Byrd is better off just producing on the field and keeping his nose to the grindstone. I know it seems really bad to a lot of fans right now but I think Byrd will end up being signed here long term in the end...its a business and this is all part of it unfortunately
  13. Is there a more fitting player to sign than this Guy? Winfield is still capable of playing at a high level and at the very least would provide leadership and sound tackling to our d while Gilmore is out.
  14. thank you god. we needed byrd badly. This is awesome news. Lets hope theyre able to get a long term deal done after this year.
  15. I remember getting an email about this trial 2 years ago when they offered people to waive their right to be part of the lawsuit. Just got an email 2 days ago notifying me that EA reached an 27 million dollar agreement. If you bought any of the older gen console games you can get about 20 bucks per unit for up to 8 units and 6 bucks per game for up to 8 units for the next gen systems (360, ps3). I filled out everything and submitted it, guess all i have to do is wait for my check to arrrive in the mail. Easiest money ive ever made. and BTW this is what EA gets for having all these exclusive licenses...Madden has sucked since they switched to the next gen consoles.
  16. He is an upgrade of Tarvaris Jackson because he has been trained in the west coast offense by Andy Reid. I dont think anyone at 1 Bills Drive is going to be hailing Kolb as our franchise guy anytime soon, but he is a servicable player who gives us flexability in the upcoming draft. Already short on picks, the bills now have the option of taking BPA at #8 or trading down, possibly with a team who is willing to fork over a 1st round pick in 2014. This would be my ideal scenario. The QB prospects in next years class are franchise guys that will be winning superbowls in the their NFL careers, you cant say that about this years class, having two 1st rounders next year would give us a shot at anyone of these guys. By trading down, we could select BPA in the late teens/early twentys, and wait until the 3rd or 4th round to draft a rookie QB or choose not to draft one at all ( fine by me). Im ok with whatever the Bills decide to do except draft a QB in the first round THIS YEAR. We have been spinning our wheels in mediocrity and committing ourselves to a 1st round pick QB this year is a risky proposition that will likely put us back in this same spot 3-4 years from now. Im ok with any QB after the first round as long as we remain open minded and willing to draft another QB next year in the 1st round. I dont think it is wise to commit ourselves to any QB we draft in '13 beyond his rookie season.
  17. The bills are sitting at number 8 right at the spot where a team may want to trade up to draft a guy that falls to them. If there is a year to trade back in the 1st round, maybe swap with a team in the late teens and secure their first round pick for next year, this is the year. Imagine going into the draft next year with two #1s. Heaven.
  18. Kolb sucks we all know that. But he aint no Fitzpatrick either. A small step forward yawn inducing move of mediocrity. It doesnt get me excited, but anythings better than who we've had.
  19. Yeah Idk where people are gettng these fat comments from, its ridiculous. It was pretty obvious Dareus struggled emotionally last season and its to be expected after he lost his brother...i was not aware that he had also lost so many other family members. Hopefully he's had a good offseason to refocus and regather that positive energy we all tend to lose from time to time. He was dealt a very rough hand so far in life but he's also a multimillion dollar professional athlete with a legion of fans and teammates to cheer him on. If anything, football is probably his one escape in life where he can turn his brain off, not think about tragedy, and just play. Dareus is easily one of my favorite players.
  20. Im all for it and ill explain why: -Aside from Josh Cribbs, name one skilled offensive player McCoy had to throw to while he was their QB -He can be signed on the cheap for likely no compensation -Hes mobile, accurate, and actually had a decent rookie season for the Browns -He fell in the draft due to short stature ...sounds a little like Russel Wilson to me. -Who the hell else do we have?!! If anything McCoy presents himself is a solid veteran player who can either backup the guy we draft or hold the fort down for a year while that guy develops. He has raw tools to make plays in the NFL and he's never been given a fair shot. So again. why the hell not?
  21. Id rather pay 100 million to Mario than pay 60 million to Paul F'ing Kruger who only played like 22 snaps in the superbowl and isnt even a three down player. Mario Williams was a proven NFL commodity with elite size/speed when we signed him to his deal. The dude had 11 sacks last year and should be a cornerstone player on our defense for years. Sure we overpaid for him but thats what you have to do to get a top free agent. Look at the money given out this year to Ellerbe, Kruger, D Gholdson, Wheeler, Wallace....its absolutely insane. I read somewhere that there are only a combined 6 pro bowls with all of this years FA class. In Mario's case, it was worth it.
  22. http://espn.go.com/blog/nfcwest/post/_/id/94352/kevin-kolbs-release-no-shock-but-big-deal We all know Kolb is not the answer to any of our problems but we are short on QBs. Hackett is a disciple of the west coast offense and that is the type of offensive system Kolb learned in Philadelphia under Andy Ried. I know the prospects of Tarvaris Jackson aren't too promising and neither or Kolbs, but if we can sign him to a cheap deal to get beat up for a year while we buy time to develop the guy we draft in '13 or wait until we draft a guy in 2014, why not?
