  1. Assuming the BIlls are in the later half of the draft--having made the play-offs--if a top tier TE is available, go for it. However, if there is a potential franchise QB that can be given time to develop, yeah, that too!
  2. Eagles vs. Bills D = Apples & Oranges, two very different defenses. As mentioned above, the birds ran that wide 9 thing, and got carved up on the ground. Furthermore, not sure they got to the QB any better. Losing a few pounds should make them a bit strong (presuming the weight control is from the weight room as well as diet, and thus, a but stronger) => I heard they're using P90X
  3. I'm trying to finagle a trip to Miami for the Dolphins game in December--been there twice, but the only problem is it is close to Christmas.
  4. Hey Lurker, they're looking for top writers like you, here's your chance to get a real job: Bleacher Report Writers-Looking for You
  5. "Bobby Hoying" !!! An Ohio High School legend! Won a State Championship in Football, Basketball (2), and Baseball. Jeff Harding (All-Pro Center with the Steelers was a HS teammate), his brother followed him as QB to Ohio State. This small school in western Ohio (a one stop light town) had 5 D1 scholarship athletes on his teams when they won all those championships. It was an incredible group of athletes, and it was a lot of fun to watch them play - I lived near them at the time. Anyhow, I think he runs the local feed store now.
  6. Wow, I missed that in my PH202 Modern Philosophy class ... should have gone to Missouri
  7. I think we have a lot of depth there, but no frontline stars . . . if they can just do their job, the over-all defensive talent will cover for them. Fortunately, the 4/3 is not a linebacker dependent defense, and considering the talent (or, lack thereof) at linebacker, this was probably a consideration--not the only--in switching back to the 4/3. By units, the Bills defense, strength to weakness scale: (1) Line = Very Strong; (2) D'Backs = Strong [not outstanding, but capable]; (3) Linebackers = Average [we hope]. By the way: I believe this is my 1,000 post - this is a special day!
  8. I think Easley. Merriman would be a nice luxury on Defense, but I think the team can get along just fine without him. But, a true number 2 receiver is needed, and it seems Easley is the potential one there.
  9. A few suggested this, and I understand, but we were never given anything definite about him being hurt. There was lot's of speculation here, and I may be wrong, but I don't recall anything from the team? And beyond that, I think everyone of us would say it's imperative he have a good year for the Bills to be successful this season. I would put him over everyone else on the list for obvious reasons, it's a "quarterback driven" league/game. Anyhow, my intent was guys who didn't finish the season from last year, and I included SJ because of the off-season surgery. Thanks to all for the good discussion, it's been informative.
  10. Really? You don't think his injury was that serious? This guy is a difference maker, that's why I put him first. And you may be the only one in the world that questions his effort. There's a reason he's leading the voting.
  11. yeah, if they would give him the keys to the offense . . . would love to see him as OC
  12. good point, but a little off the intent, really focusing on returning players indeed, great minds
  13. I think a big question(s) for the Bills success this season is: How well do Merriman, Williams, Easley, Jones, Wood, McGee, Urbik, Fred X, etc., come back from their injuries. If all, or most of these guys recover and return to 100% = it could be a special season. If not, it could be very disappointing after all the build-up. My priorities: 1 - K Williams 2 - S Johnson 3 - E Wood 4 - F Jackson 5 - M Easley And Merriman would be a big bonus if he can contribute anything.
  14. All good signs! But I think the big question(s) for the Bills success this season is: How well do Merriman, Williams, Easley, Jones, Wood, McGee, Urbik, and Fred X (am I missing anyone?) come back from their injuries. If all, or most of these guys recover and return to 100% = it could be a special season. If not, it could be very disappointing after all the build-up.
  15. Wisdom and humility come with age, and evaluated, hard knocks, and "learned from" experience. I like what I heard.
  16. I would have liked to get a top tier Linebacker in the draft or FA, I just don't get the feeling we're that strong there. I do, however, think that we''l be just some at WR, I think the crowd we have there has talent, and is ready for primetime. The additions have speed, and hopefully Easley will finally stay healthy and emerge. Just a hunch.
  17. if it comes down to that: I say, don't resign Byrd and use the $ to resign the more valuable assets, Wood and Levitre!
  18. I think we've all thought this, but our fan bias causes us to hesitate in saying it . . . anyhow, if he can stay healthy for an entire season, and if the BIlls are serious play-off contenders, then he may get the league-wide recognition he deserves.
  19. Just voted, Graham crushing it, must not be many 49er fans out there; or, with their other additions, most people figure he won't see the field.
  20. yep But seriously, this is a good idea--saving a roster spot and all--until he sails one over the punters head, or screws up a key field goal attempt, then you'll remember why we liked Sanborn, and why teams search high and low for consistently good long snappers. Yep, it looks easy, but all I have to say is one word to put it perspective: Levitre!
  21. No, you're right. And there 20+ other teams in the league that would say the same thing about their QB. But is he "good enough?" I do think so. Let's Hope!
  22. I don't think there are any big surprises with the starters, considering injuries and all. And as far as the rookies being inserted form day one, I can tell you as a college coach, you start whom you think is the best option there (there's a reason Aaron Maybin was 3rd team from day one, and his play only confirmed that). I have never met a coach who didn't want to put his best players on the field, so if you think a rookie is your best player, they go first. Now if their play (including the mental as well as physical aspects) tells you something different, then you make changes. Don't over think it, it's as sImple as that. Depth Charts do mean something.
