How can you possibly have a SECOND team that you root for?
jethro_tull replied to Bakin's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It' OK to like other players and other teams, usually if they have ties to the Bills- example the Colts. However No 2 is a long, long long way from no. 1 !!!!! -
90s Bills legacy in serious jeopardy next year...
jethro_tull replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Bills legacy is actually in danger of becoming more impressive if the Patriots make it to four straight. Think about it- the Bills being mentioned as the only other team to make it to four straight along with the the invincible Brady / Belichick Partiots? -

jethro_tull replied to dubs's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agreed but the Bills have coaching and system continuity going into next season, The Bears fired John Fox last season. Still i like where the Bills are and they have enough picks and cap space to accomplish their roster goals. Also- I trust McBeane to get it done- the Josh Allen pick alone shows they have the capability to pick talent. -

Are the Bills in better or worse "condition" than the 2017 (5-11) Chicago Bears ? Arguably I say better. Mirror what the Bears did to support Triubisky- Surround JA with more weapons, build / develop the OL and fortify the DL and next year's Bills could be right where the Bears are now- arguably a shot at the Super Bowl. -
Those were some overoficious jerks!

they did not have to call the game that way. -
Was Baker Mayfield a DOUCHE Yesterday?

"Was" a douche? So glad he's not wearing blue and white...... -
If they win out, they deserve to be a wild card despite their previous lopsided losses.

ready to dismiss your thought as over exuberant gibberish i have settled down to the position that- if they run the table they deserve to be in the hunt. Since the jets are abysmal they did not really prove much yesterday- but they did show some potential.

How about Matt Barkley huh?
jethro_tull replied to Brianmoorman4jesus's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
he definitely played very well! we may have found our long term backup. i sincerely hope this continues when in the face of more pressure from an opposing team that isn't phoning it in. -
bills are bordering on cleveland browns level of ineptitude. complete laughingstock.

Josh Allen is all that matters

Agreed for the most part but depending on how badly the offense continues to play Daboll may get the axe at the end of the year on general principle as head of one of the most inept offenses in NFL history Also in addition to a functional QB the Bills would still have needed a better running game and OL to have playoff shot this year. TT would not have been able to do it alone. But as for McBeane- they are safe for now but as you say, the Josh Allen pick will make or break them. -
yeah, i live in the chicago area and share bears fans sentiment that mitch is their guy. he had his breakout game vs. tampa bay (19/26 354 yds). he has an improved offensive line anchored by kyle long (awaiting a possible move to IR after a foot injury) and center cody whitehair) the bears made some smart moves by investing top picks in their OL, a move I hope the Bills pick up on. their offense is also helped by the dynamic running of jordan howard and tarik cohn. Cohen reminds me of thurman thomas- equally adept at receiving as well as running and is actually the leading receiver on the bears. their offense is not flashy- mainly a possession style and they can keep the ball for long drives (currently 3rd best in the league in time of possession) which is helped by their often stellar defense anchored by superstar kahlil mack who is currently hampered by an injury. in addition, LB danny travathan is having an all pro year. they are no. 1 in interceptions and fewest first downs allowed and no. 3 against the run so the bills will have a difficult time scoring. however the McD is successful against the NFC and our defense could give the bears a challenge. In short the Bears are coming along and should make the playoffs. Last season they were nearly identical in performance and QB experience and overall "shape" as the Bills are this season, something that gives me hope for the Bills next season.

Rebuilding is not an excuse but it is part of the picture. The biggest impact to this lack of wins this season was the unforseeable loss of their best (2) offensive line starters Incognito and Wood. This crippled the run first offense and made it increasingly difficult for any QB to be successful this season. This and this alone give them a pass for the year IMHO. The defense is doing very well and has the chance to be really special in the coming years as the young players develop. Their biggest mistake (as it seems now) was banking on Nate Peterman to be the starter and the eventual backup. Absolutely ludicrous in hindsight (at this point). However he was a fifth round pick and never intended to be a starter. The jury is still out on Allen. He has showed some good things and some rookie things. He deserves some time and a better team around him to show what he is capable of. His injury is preventing his development BUT if he starts after the bye week he will play in as many games as Mitch Trubisky did least season for the Bears. McBeane have only (2) drafts under their belts. They need and deserve another (2) IMHO.

Nate Peterman "I'm ready to go win a game"
jethro_tull replied to BmarvB's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The fact that he looks good in preseason gives way to some hope. But he does fall apart mentally in regular season games and it usually happens fast. The question becomes- is he mentally not capable to play in the NFL or is he mentally not ready to play in the NFL? If he is ultimately capable but isn't currently ready then more reps (no matter how disastrous they might be) is the only way to know. At this point is that really such a bad option? -
