Some quick post-game observations
jethro_tull replied to jahnyc's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
the defense not being able to stop anything should not have been a surprise. at that point the offense should have abandoned the run and let josh start slinging it hurry up style. -

Mentions of the name B** J*** will forever foul my mood instantly. Thanks BJ. Talas was good- you are giving B** J**** far too much credit. C**k Robin was better than B** J****. -
Well said and completely agreed- Michael Vick was in the same boat. When a QB has to improvise out of the pocket after the initial play call goes south you are in very rocky, inconsistent territory. When you RELY on that type of improvisation to make plays you are doomed.

possibly mentioned before but i was ready to strangle caroll for that stupid 3rd and 2 long pass play on their final possession. seahawks defense was bad IMHO.

Anybody surprised at the lack of running thus far?
jethro_tull replied to DCofNC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
not surprised- the OL needs to work on their run blocking. -
Searched for the NFL policy for any schedule contingencies if players on a team should test positive for COVID prior to a game and I could not find anything. With the rash of MLB games being postponed because of positives tests, it seems possible or even likely that this will happen to NFL games too. My thoughts are that they should play the season- if only for a learning experience on how to develop policies and procedures. At the very least they need a policy in place ASAP prior to the start of the season for scheduling contingencies if players test positive prior to the game.

the woman could likely have a mood and behavior disorder which is where abusive behavior often comes from. she could be emotionally abusing the child too. if this is the case, standing your ground / enforcing boundaries does not work with irrational people- period. you cannot reason with an emotional disorder. he did the right thing by calling the police. documenting the issues is the first step and gives him leverage in requiring her to seek an evaluation and follow up treatment plan. it also documents the incident should things not get any better and helps his rights after separation. the law is on his side- there is no justification for physical abuse. there is no justification for physical contact unless done in self defense. it is going to be a process but i wish them well.

Does the NFL have a bubble plan? Covid rising
jethro_tull replied to Ramza86's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
One thing to understand is that most of the media are not doing a good job at reporting information that is qualified to be meaningful to us. For example it seems daunting when there is a rise in confirmed cases- but we need to understand is that more people are being tested than ever before and the new case numbers are not a good indicator on what actions are needed. The best indicator IMHO are the rate of new fatalities. This number is fairly consistently tracked and would show a trend of the actual cases both confirmed and unconfirmed. For example, the US 14 day trend is + 32% new cases, but down 31% in new deaths. That is a big deal and a very encouraging sign. [EDIT: I'd like to ask you folks to redirect general covid discussion to the covid-19 threads in OTW or in PPP. Thanks. And the stat you're looking for for "new case numbers being a good indicator on what actions are needed" is % positive cases. When the mere number of positive cases rises, it may be a result of more testing. When the % positive tests rises, more people are getting infected. For Example from the NY Forward Dashboard we can see that the number of tests is rising, but the % positive is falling: By contrast, for Arizona, we see that testing is going up but positive cases are going up faster, leading to an increase in % positive tests. That wasn't true for a while in late April (testing went up, while % positive went down) but that changed. There's typically about a 4-6 week lag in deaths, so they aren't a good indicator. Discuss more with ya over in the covid-19 threads, 'K? -

thanks for this thread and hope that are are doing well. living in the chicago area very much the same things are happening- no toilet paper, no school and soon no bars or restaurants if it hasn't happened already. governor of illinois and the mayor of chicago have complained loudly about the long waits at the airports for screening for the european flights- calling trump incompetent and blaming it all on him. sorry for the inconvenience people but better safe than sorry.

The Rooney Rule (still) isn’t working?
jethro_tull replied to wppete's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The rule is being followed but IMHO is disrespectful and patronizing to the coaches being interviewed to fulfill the rule. The results are not what was expected however. -
Thank you Bills, You'll Get There......
jethro_tull replied to jethro_tull's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
the main reason that they played the way they did and lost is lack of experience, coaches and players. look at the experience and years of continuity on the remaining AFC playoff teams. that is all the Bills need. -
