  1. Throwback to the 1940's and 1950's where they used to have the automat cafe. This is the same with updated tech and higher prices.
  2. Although he looked weird, Markbreit always seemed to get the call right, regardless of where he was reffing.
  3. Have always thought Wade > Greggo as a defensive mind, and firing Wade to bring in Greggo one of Ralph's biggest mistakes.
  4. I was lucky enough to see Cookie set the pro football record for Rushing and score 5TD's in a quagmire [aka mosh pit] at the Rockpile. I also sat through the debacle of the '63 playoff loss to the patriots in a bleacher seat that was formed by pressing a garbage can into the foot of snow that had fallen. My HS got to play there in the baseball playoffs in 1965. Toss up as to whether the Rockpile or the LA Coliseum was the worst baseball stadium of all time. Right field was about 265 with a very high screen.
  5. Remember Joe Paterno wanted Jim Kelly to come to Penn State [His dream school] as a linebacker. Even the experts aren't right at times.
  6. I live close to the border When you do all the conversions, gas is $3.75 per US Gallon vs. NY $2.95 per US Gallon. You get lifetime medical care, and college that is much cheaper than the US. ?
  7. For me has to be Home Run Throwback. Yup, I wuz there. Talk about the Thrill of Victory, Agony of Defeat in a few moments, and the hosing the Bills got from the Refs.
  8. 32 teams 3 in the top 100, why Hyde > Poyer I'm not sure? Don't see Cordy Glenn, Sammy Watkins or Marcel Dareus on this list.
  9. Aaron Rodgers got three years as a 2. 312 TD's later he's probably a first ballot HOF'r.
  10. Billy Shaw and Jack Kemp were the equal of Bart Starr and Jerry Kramer. First and Goal on the 1, and Kemp was nearly automatic behind Shaw.
  11. Beef on Weck > Hardees or Arbys. At least Buffalo wins that one,
  12. Saban was a great coach for the Bills, but a lousy employee. He also couldn't handle Cookie, who was a rare talent. 22 coaching jobs in 50 years. Still think in 67 Cookie had enough left in the tank that The Bills could have gone to SB I.
  13. FWIW Three Bills made the all time AFL team, Shaw [HOF], Sestak, and Saimes. One of the biggest Bills Draft boots in history is Gerry Philbin, could you imagine the '65 defense with him. He made Buddy Ryan at UB. The following Bills made their all-decade NFL teams Joe D OJ James Lofton Bruce Smith Thurman Thomas Cornelius Bennett Marv Levy Brian Moorman Terrell Owens [Only 1 yr in Buffalo] Think Moorman has to be the punter.
  14. Unfortunately for Sully, Russ, Donahoe and Whaley were paid MUCH better...
  15. Paul Brown, with Cookie and Jim Brown as his FB/RB, that would have been a road grinder...
  16. My apologies for my earlier comment on Cookie's blocking, will defer to Madden, " Madden said, "Cookie Gilchrist may have been the best blocking running back that ever played the game." " Not really, Maguire played LB as a fourth/sub package linebacker on the '64-65 teams, then became purely a punter, although I remember him also playing on the kickoff team [He and Gogolak would sometimes play games side by side to fake out the other team]. Cookie always wanted to play both ways as he did in Canada, but Saban thought he was too valuable to the offense. Cookie could have been Ray Nitschke on D.
  17. Wray Carlton was a solid team player, He got tough yards, blocked in pass pro, but not a star. Typical lunch pail Buffalo guy on a great team. Also wanted to mention how tough Jack Kemp was. He scored 40 rushing touchdowns, mainly on sneaks, where the QB takes a beating. Go to play for the bills in '64-65 was Jack Kemp behind Billy Shaw for the score. Cam has 44 rushing TD's but Kemp's were almost all in the trenches. Picking him off waivers still the greatest front office move in Bills history.
  18. As an Original Bills Fan, love this post. I was 10 when the team started. Was there for Cookie Gilchrist'ss pro football rushing record in a mosh pit. Today they would have cancelled the game, the field was that bad. Was also in Nashville for home run throwback ? Agree the game as changed, but also remember in the 63-64-65-66 era there were fewer teams in pro football, so much harder to make a roster. Bemiller bounced between guard & center in '64 and '65. Dave Behrman was the center in '65 as I recall. I don't recall that they carried a separate long snapper back in those days. McGuire was a top punter, he was clutch in both AFL Championship wins, but Moorman has the stats and longevity. Edgerson, Hansen, and Tasker are on the wall, have to be on the team somewhere. Lofton is a PF HOF'r and made the K-gun work with his deep speed, also on the 50th all time team. Henry Jones was also on the 50th all time team. So was Ruben Brown. They have to be on here. Perhaps make Ritcher the second center instead of Bemiller? Gogolak changed the game, both with his kicking, and his move to the Giants was one of the first moves that led to the merger. That said, Christie had a long career with many accomplishments. Interestingly Scott Norwood is the only Bills kicker ever selected as first team all pro. Cookie was more of a gigantic RB than a FB, he wasn't noted for his blocking, He was a great receiver out of the backfield. Might move him to RB instead of Cribbs, and make room for Gash or Boobie Braxton. Fun to look back, suspect the 60th anniversary team will be voted on soon.
  19. Kemp used to take a beating, one of the original tough guys. Had 40 rushing touchdowns in 10 years, I think Cam has the record with 44, in much longer seasons. He was a master at the hard count, eye fakes, and just lowering his head behind Billy Shaw. Lamonica threw a pretty long ball.
  20. I wuz there{working in Nashville at the time], skybox, 45 Tn Yardline. stadium thought it was a forward lateral until the refs decided otherwise. simple solution, GPS chip in the ball and GPS tracking on the facade of the skyboxes, can track the LOS and the ball within fractions of an inch...
  21. Siran Neal has played LB, CB, Safety, could this be the eventual chess piece.4.56 40 40+ inch vertical.
  22. Why wouldn't Kim, Houghton alum, move the camp to Houghton, closer to New Era, less distractions for the camp.
  23. Tom Brady was a 7th rounder...
  24. Having worked for 20 years in a large corporation, Kim will hire whoever she needs to deal with the administrivia, and be focused on the important stuff that she and Terry paid $1.4BB for.
