I would argue that there has never in the history of the world been sanctity in professional sports. You may find it with a bunch of kids playing in a vacant lot, but that concept goes out the window as soon as fame, money, influence and power are involved. Sanctity in professional sports is a romanticization created by those that make their money telling stories. They can be compelling and entertaining, but at the end of the day professional sports nowadays are basically "reality" TV with a virtually limitless budget and more spontaneity/uncertainty in the script. They just panders to a different demographic than most other reality shows.

Actually, I think we just have a lot of posters in here who have finally moved on from the “our run defense will be better when Star comes back” narrative, myself included. His case of “boo-boo foot” is just the final in a long line of straws that broke the narrative’s back. Now a fresh new group are adding their frustration to the chorus of venting to the stars.

Until recently, I'd argue that Tyrod has been the anti-Fitz. Expected to start, then supplanted by a combination of poor play and an unintentional ~~wink wink~~ needle in the lung. Whereas Fitz is expected to back up, but then the starter mysteriously ends up karmically Gilloolied and there's Fitz behind center again.

I would take Tyrod over Moss, Brieda, or Singletary at RB at this point. I have no interest in him in the QB room for Buffalo ever again, though.

This FO had been methodically addressing weaknesses on the team prior to the pandemic. I would love to know what FA/draft would have looked like without the unplanned drop in the salary cap. They made the necessary moves in the off-season to compete with KC, which seemed reasonable at the time. They also tried to bring in JJ Watt to address the DL (which thankfully they missed out on). Without the regression in the OL this season (though one might argue since the playoffs last season) the poor run D could have been overcome. I think they were counting on getting out of the gate quickly on offense and forcing teams to keep up. It just hasn’t happened, which exposes their defense to power running teams.
