It remains to be seen, of course, but Syracuse is still a good draw bc they’re in the ACC and play in the dome regularly in front of 25K fans. Tons of national exposure. And Red Autry is regarded as one of the best recruiters in college basketball. Syracuse will always have that “blue blood” status in college basketball. Will Autry be a good HC? Who knows? It is a good sign that the best ‘24 recruit has already announced that he will remain committed to ‘Cuse, and Judah hinting today that he will stay another season is also promising. It will also be telling what Red is able to draw in the transfer portal. Based on everything I hear about Autry, I am feeling optimistic.

I feel like the zone is bad for recruiting the more “high profile” prospects. Am I off in my assumption? I feel like the big 5* guys with clear pro aspirations want to go to a program that plays man defense. I also feel like the better teams of today have multiple outstanding outside shooters which of course is the Kryptonite of the 2-3 zone…

Yeah, I interpreted that as him saying it was up to the university to determine how they handle the remainder of his contract, as depending on the contract coaches typically get compensated better if they are fired than if they retire/resign. I could be totally off though. It was rumored that JB had decided to retire way back in 2017, but the university allowed him to change his mind at the last minute which pissed off Mike Hopkins who was expecting to take over. Not sure how much of that is true. It could very well be that he was coerced to retire after the past two abysmal seasons. Either way, it was clearly time for him to go and I am please with Autry being his successor.

Don’t underestimate what Red brings to the table in terms of recruiting. Especially now that he’s the main man. I’m optimistic that he does a good job turning the program around.

Ji’Aiyr Brown is such an intriguing prospect, but I’m not sure his style fits this defense. Not known to have great instincts in coverage. More of an in the box thumper.

I can’t say that you’re wrong, but nothing in that article suggests to me that JB was forced out. That said, I hope Red finally abandons that antiquated zone defense.

What would lead you to believe that? Just a suspicion? I highly doubt he was forced to do anything. I also think this has been the plan for some time now.

Bryson is painfully bad 🫣

My wife is one of those people who can never sit still. We both have full-time careers in education, but she has always had the desire to work part-time jobs here and there to stay busy. This tends to create added work for me at home with the household chores and the kids, but she enjoys it and it makes her happy. In August she shared with me that she wanted to apply for a psych tech job at the hospital and work a couple nights per week. She makes ~$60/hour, so it brings in some extra cash flow to pay for vacations and the kids’ sports and such. I’m totally cool with it. It also gives me some alone time once the kids go to bed which I enjoy. I’ve been married for 13 years though. A long time ago when I was in graduate school I dated a girl seriously for a few years. I was doing classes half-time, an internship in Syracuse City Schools, waiting tables at night, and then coming home and doing reading/homework for 4-5 hours. She liked to go out to the bars after work, but I rarely joined her bc I was exhausted and had too much work to do. After so many times of her crawling in bed with me drunk at 3-4 in the morning I broke up with her. We were clearly not a good match in terms of our life goals. I was bummed though bc she was incredibly hot and a lot of fun in bed 🥵🤗

Any word on when Alex Tuch is hopeful to return? Sabres are missing him a lot. He’s one that really “stirs the drink” out there.
