  1. Feliciano got starter money. Not high end starter money but they are expecting him to start. I don't expect McBeane to invest in getting a guard in free agency unless it is for depth or a reclamation project. I think they do draft a O-line player in round 3 for depth and to take advantage of a supposedly deep tackle class. But don't hold your breath on them going after a "mauler" in free agency unless it is a project player coming off injuries. I think they are comfortable with Mongo at RG and then having Ford/Ike battle it out for the LG position. I hope they do bring Ty back as the swing tackle and draft an O-line in round 3 so they can run 10 deep with Trey being the developmental project. As far as the draft I think they have to be targeting an edge rusher at pick 30. I don't see this team being able to do much in free agency due to the cap and needing to resign restricted/depth players unless they are willing to really restructure Diggs, Dawkins, White and Poyer's deals to risk more dead money down the line in exchange for cap space now. Personally, I would hope they are willing to convert some base salary into signing bonuses in order to secure depth and add a vet TE and a prime edge rusher.
  2. Keeping together a 13-3 team that won 2 playoff games before the draft is a huge success given the cap limitations. There is still the draft to add pieces and there is no guarantee that KC returns as strong. They already cut both of their tackles and have a lot of players getting older. I do agree there needs to be more done to get this team over the top but entering into the draft not losing any starters (assuming the restricted free agents get signed) is a significant victory in my opinion.
  3. Brown is the only real loss of talent and while I would have loved to have kept him there are just difficult choices you have to make with a cap.
  4. It is already a huge success esp if they lock down the restricted free agents and sign back some of the depth players. With all three being resigned I don’t see the Bills being able to get a big name pass rusher cap wise. Unless they are willing to restructure White/Dawkins/Diggs/Poyer’s contracts to risk more dead money down the line in exchange for cap relief now the cap space just won’t be there. I hope they are willing to at least restructure those players a little to free up a bit more space to get a prime pass rusher but I think McBeane prefers cap flexibility even if it might hamper the team short term.
  5. I think of Bates as the utility player great versatility to play all 5 positions but you need more depth along the line. I think at a minimum you need three quality backups and right now the Bills have two assuming Ike is brought back. I would ideally love to see Ty brought back for one more season and an Oline drafted in round 3 to add some youth to the Oline and even more depth while Trey is the 10th guy on the line who is developmental.
  6. Seems like a mutually beneficial trade. Should have cut Murphy and not signed Shaq but I would rather have had Murphy on a one and done than be tied to Shaq now
  7. What I like about Mongo is that he can step in at center and they can plug in another player at guard. I like the idea of drafting a tackle that can kick inside. Mitch I don’t see as a longer term solution at center but this is a win now team. But going Oline in round 3 helps with depth and helps keep the team in contention long term
  8. Your talent got you to 13 wins and two playoff victories. Not hard to justify trying to keep as much of that team together and then add the 2-3 pieces you might need to compete at a higher level through the draft.
  9. Puzzling move to give Cam 14 million even on one year. I thought for sure NE was going to target Jimmy G.
  10. I do expect one or two vet ring chasers, not major names but maybe a guy like Kyle Rudolph taking a one year deal. I think what is more likely to happen is teams retaining a lot of talent and signing a lot of talent by backloading deals. Tons of guys are going to have Matt Milano style deals with low cap numbers in year one.
  11. All years after year one are voidable. Basically a one year commitment to Hill with 3 one year options. The Saints really have no shame in circumventing the salary cap. They basically just keep kicking the can down the road as far as dead money. It is smart and at worst you just bag one year eat a bunch of dead money and rebuild.
  12. I hope they can sign a few reclamation projects/ring chasers but I think their focus is going to be on keeping their players. I think Kyle Rudolph might be a guy they target on a cheaper deal if his market isn't strong. But depth and reclamation projects is what is in the Bills budget.
  13. I keep hearing how this is a very good offensive tackle draft and I think it would be a mistake if they don't use this draft to secure more long term depth and a possible longer term replacement for the older right side of the line.
  14. If the Bills can resign their three restricted players and 2-3 key depth pieces (some combo of Roberts, Mac, Ty, T.Jones and Barkley) they will have 97% of their 13-3 roster that won 2 playoff games with the draft still to go. Keeping a 13 win base of talent is critical as you still have the draft to add those 2-3 pieces you feel you are missing and help replace some depth and get younger longer term. I think they go Pass rusher at pick 30 and then either a tight end or CB in round 2 and then tackle round 3. Then in round 5 they take on some depth pieces like safety or LB.
  15. They don't have the cap dollars to spend on a RB. If they go RB it is in the draft and I think they go RB late in the draft. Hunter Henry might be too far out of their price range. I think if this team can squeeze in a vet TE it is going to be Kyle Rudolph who should come cheaper.
  16. Ike/Ford in my mind will battle it out for the LG spot, loser goes to the bench and is a key depth piece along with Bates. Still need a swing tackle if Ty isn't brought back but not a bad top 7 for the O-line.
  17. I keep hearing "how does this help us beat KC" as though it is a foregone conclusion that the team gets back to the AFCCG and plays KC. As if it is a foregone conclusion that KC doesn't get worse (they already lost their starting tackles) and simply returning the same roster with some minor tweaks wouldn't be enough. I don't get people knocking the idea of returning productive starters from a 13-3 team that won two playoff games.
  18. I think Trey is a developmental guy like Ike was. I still think they need a bit more depth along the O-line. Either resign Ty or drafting a player in round 3.
  19. I think they target a tackle in round 3. As much as I would like to see Ty back I don't think they are able to bring him back and I think they want to maintain the depth along the O-line. Right now assuming they resign Ike they have Ike/Ford (whomever doesn't win the LG spot) and Bates as depth along the O-line. They need a swing tackle if Ty isn't brought back. Round 1 and 2 I think they target a pass rusher and a pass catcher or corner so they dip into O-line depth in round 3 in a supposedly deep O-line class.
  20. Solid deal, a little more than Spain got. The Bills managed to resign all 3 key starters to reasonable deals. Good start to the off-season. Now the team has to at least try to sign a few of the role players. Roberts and or Mac is a big one as the return game and speed to the offense is needed, Ty I think is underrated as he is a quality depth swing tackle and T.Jones is a ST ace. Also the restricted guys are key, Ike, Bojo and Wallace are all key players need to keep them in the fold. Ideally I would hope to see Ty, Roberts or Mac, T.Jones and all three restricted guys brought back. And maybe if the cap permits they sign a vet D-line player to add to the rotation as a reclamation project. They then can spend pick 30 on a pass catcher or pass rusher to get that last piece needed.
  21. I don’t know why people wouldn’t want him resigned. Don’t need to over pay but you certainly shouldn’t just let him walk. A bad kick returner can cost you games. Give me a steady hand back there any time over taking a chance on a rookie.
  22. I do think McBeane is going to let Mongo walk. I think they see other vet guards out on the market who can duplicate what Mongo does. I do think they make an offer for Mongo but I think he sees this as his chance for a big contract and isn’t interested in taking a contract discounted. Overall I would say that with Williams back they can afford to get Mongo back.
  23. It is basically a game of increasing dead money down the line to open cap space now.
  24. Jefferson is gone and Murphy won’t be resigned. I think pick 30 most likely is being spent on a pass rusher.
  25. I thought Mongo was one of the better run blockers last season. I think the lack of a consistent run game was in part due to scheme and the effective nature of the passing attack. Wouldn’t mind upgrading one of the guard positions but edge is the bigger need in my opinion.
