  6. During WWII there were Avis Annie and Tokyo Rose.
  7. Those were al people that lived in the SF Bay area. Did see some snow right in the SF Bay area. I saw a few flakes in the town I lived in the east bay on Good Friday one year. Was driving home from Alameda and got off of the Interstate because of traffic and drove past the Oakland airport, There was about an inch of slush at the airport (sea level). Then went inland over a ridge 0f maybe 700 feet just before my town. Was snowing on the top of the ridge. About once a year, that ridge would get a dusting overnight and it would melt by about 11 AM.Mt Diablo, 3800 feet and about 10 miles north would once a year get snow down to about 2000 feet and it would last several days. Once I had to go to Auburn, CA in April which is at about 1300 feet and is where tI-80 starts climbing he Sierras. Was 80s there and you could see where the Donner pass is in the far distance. Covered with snow.
  8. I'll talk to my brother who plows for the county. To me it looks like the low driver was going down the left shoulder. He has told me stories of idiots refusing to get out of the way of the plow. If there is any type of accident or damage they drug and alcohol test the driver. He was plowing at the intersection of Dick and Genesee (at the airport) where the 33 goes under he intersection. The expansion joint on the overpass somehow was dislodged and his plow ripped a 3 foot piece of it out of the road. He had to spend about 2-3 hours at county hall in Downtown Buffalo filing out reports and taking pee and breath tests. This was at 5:30 AM I sent the photos of me digging my car out of the 7 feet from Snowvember '14. They all said "How do you live in that!!!!" I just replied " It was all gone a week later" , which it was.
  9. It was multiple gallons of Chick-Fil-a tea and multiple trips to the liquor store. Captiva Island is only about a quarter mile wide. Fill up the insulated mug, restaurant across the street for breakfast, down the street to the beach. Drank til noon, ate lunch at a p lace on the beach (had burgers). Back to the room for more tea and booze and back to the beach. At about 5 went to the supermarket on the island to buy food and cook it on the grill at the motel. The place looked like cottages at Crystal Beach, but in the office, the owners had pictures of him with Danny DeVito and with Aerosmith when they stayed there. On the beach there was a guy that sold ice cream and snacks off a party boat that he drove up on the beach. Taking to that guy , found out he was from WNY.
  10. Hank Yarbo for PM! (Corner Gas reference)
  11. Went to Sanibel/Captiva for a vacation back in 2011/2012. On the way from the Fort Myers airport to the motel. stopped at Chic-Fil-a and bought a gallon jug uf their iced tea, then stoped at a liquor store to buy vodka. Had vodka and iced teas for a week on the beach.
  12. Stick her on a space barge and send her to the Delta Quadrant. (The Enterprise is too small for her heft nowadays.)

I hadn't bought a car yet, so I had to take the NFTA bus to UB Main Campus and then the UB Shuttle up to Amherst. UB was closed for a week, but I missed another week, because the bus route past the house was probably the last plowed and didn't run. I was waiting for the Bailey St. bus to go home several weeks after the blizzard. The bus stop was on Bailey across from Grover Cleveland Golf Course. About every minute, a dump truck full of snow pulled up and dumped it on the course. There were several bulldozers just running up the snow piles, making them larger. That continued for several weeks. In the spring, the course was littered with garbage, shopping carts and car parts along with the turf being totally dug up. Before the streets were totally cleared, the national guard were cleaning the main streets. I was waiting for the bus at Bailey and Broadway. The snow at that corner was at least 10 feet tall, and if you climbed the pile, you could see probably 10 blocks or more down Broadway. No sign of the bus (but i could see the high lifts from the NG). While I am climbing down the pile, a middle-aged-elderly couple stops and asked if I could use a ride. I never hitchhiked, but that is the only time I accepted a ride from a stranger.I told them the general area i was headed and they were going that way. Had them drop me off about a quarter mile from home and walked down my cleared street.
  16. What I got from the video was that the guy sounds like Jimmy Pesto Jr. (was watching Bob's Burgers while looking at the video).

My uncle lived in Alden and was going home from the Chevy Delevan St. plant. I think he said he got stuck at a school for several days in Lancaster with about a dozen people including a cop. Said cop had to pull his gun to force a couple of middle aged women to go inside. They didn't want to leave their car. He said they had to break into the freezer and coolers in the cafeteria for food.
  18. 45 years ago was the Blizzard of '77. For the younger board members, it was the worst snow storm n WNY history. The whole region was paralyzed, not just a narrow band like in 2014.
  19. And 45 years ago was the Blizzard of '77. People died in that.
  20. Don't tug on Superman's cape Don't spit into the wind Don't pull the mask off the ole Lone Ranger and don't mess around with Jim.😁
