  1. I always thought the Rooney rule was a sham and truth be told very insulting for a lot of these minority coaches that have to go through this song and dance knowing that they were simply a manufactured tool to suffice the Rooney rule. I was hesitant to bring it up in the past because the fault lines were apparent and it would just devolve into this basic argument where one side would be cast as racists for making their case and the other side as nonsensical. But I do believe that this Flores court case will allow most people to reexamine the Rooney rule and understand that even though it was well-intentioned, that it wasn't the right solution. It's difficult to legislate or in this case create a rule to help create the change in having a more diverse coaching league, there clearly is something wrong in the vetting process considering that over half the NFL players are African Americans and that at this particular point less than 3% of the NFL teams have an African American coach. Typically change like this is brought upon by society not rules. With all that said, we don't have all the facts but there may be a chance that Flores being sacked from the Dolphins had nothing to do with race and that the allegations against the Giants and Broncos may have not either. It looks like Flores didn't want to play along with Ross's unsavory plans and that Ross didn't think he could trust him going forward. The Broncos say they have all the receipts to prove what Flores says is false, whether that is true or not I suppose we'll find out. And there are reports that the Giants satisfied the Rooney rule before they were set to interview Flores.
  2. I would have to imagine the allegations against Ross are true. Pretty damning and I would suspect a full blown investigation. Flores strikes me as an honest straight shooter. With that said, he is burning bridges along the way and without doubt he is limiting his opportunities. He’s entangling a number of other people in this ordeal and I cannot imagine that there are quite a few influential people who are unhappy with this.
  3. You can say that again
  4. Bottom line, the Bills were good enough to beat the Chiefs and possibly win the superbowl under it's current construct if it weren't for the last 13 seconds, which if the Bills were to have the same situation 10 more times, they most likely win all 10 of those games. With that said, the more I think about it the more it makes sense to play Mahomes on obvious passing situations with 3 pass rushers and one spy, and the spy should never look to have his hands up so that he gets juked with the pass attempt by Mahomes and his only job is to drop back, Spy and take out any passes in his area and when the moment presents itself, to go in like a heat seeking missile on Mahomes. That should be part of the blue print, along with two deep safety play.
  5. The point is that they have not prioritized via the draft or any real substantive value in FA at the DB spot, they have used caste offs, aging vets, low draft picks and UFA’s to fill in the roster. Grant it, there is a question mark of when Tre will return and with Levi most likely heading off for bigger bucks, so there is more uncertainty this year at that spot than in years past. I as well want to spend our draft capital on the offensive skilled positions and hopefully they go into the season with Dane and Tre and draft a couple early mid to mid rounders on DB’s and develop them.
  6. The bottom line, when the Bills needed players to make plays on offense, Beasley showed up against the Chiefs. I think they will ask him to take a pay cut. McKenzie I believe is as good as gone. Buffalos offense is playing at an elite level, that doesn’t mean you stop getting him more weapons. As far as I’m concerned, let’s continue to load it up and make it even better.
  7. How many DB’s have the Bills drafted in the first three rounds since the McD/Beane era in the past 4 drafts?
  8. For me Jameson Williams would be a dream pick. I honestly believe to go along with Diggs, Davis, Beasley and Knox would complete the receiving corps. Jameson would be our X factor and it’s possible he could replace the role that McKenzie played with the Bills. That over the top threat would open up more passing plays as safeties would have to always keep tabs of what Jameson would be doing. I strongly am pulling for a playmaking WR with the first pick. I believe there will be some to be had. If Jameson is still available at around the 20-22 pick the Bills should consider trading up a few picks to secure him. I believe Jameson could end up making the Bills the most potent offense in the league. And with either the 2nd or 3rd pick the Bills should look to draft a shifty, speedy receiving RB. Not a cowbell type but a receiving and change of pace specialist. And to complete my offensive wishlist, the Bills should look to get either via FA or draft a decent receiving threat who can block at a high level. Those aren’t easy to come by but the 12 formation I think could be a really potent one if we can have that 2nd TE at least be a decent threat on the receiving end. Invest in the offense more so than the defense.
  9. That’s crazy talk. Surround your best weapon who makes other weapons better with more weapons.
  10. Not sure how anyone could say no, yet alone over half that have responded. He is still a good receiving threat, he would be used in a lot of 2 TE set formations, he’s still an elite blocker and with the threat of him being able to catch, it would be a very potent rushing and receiving formation. He wouldn’t take many snaps away from Knox.
  11. What you are looking for is a sacrificial lamb, that’s not how good operations solve their problems.
  12. Buffalo should continue to add quality players from the offensive skilled positions. Either via FA or draft, they should look to get at least one more quality receiving threat and one fast quality receiving RB. The team should continue to invest in the offensive skilled positions, as long as Allen can be protected with his lineman and has lots of quality offensive options, the Bills offense will continue to be a juggernaut. Defensively, extend Oliver, sign Harrison, get Edmunds for at least another year, let Levi walk (even though I like him but he will be too expensive $9-$10m range), get a couple early to mid round DB’s in the draft and let Dane be the #2 and hopefully one of the rookies can be the #3 option (not counting Taron). Let Klein walk (even though I like him but we can’t afford him), let Butler, Hughes and Addison walk. And go get one of the best pass rushers in FA and let that be the splash FA signing of this year. Hopefully with Boogie, Epenesa, Rousseau and the FA signing that should be good along with Obada. I would look to draft a RB and WR with 2 of the first 3 picks. Get a Interior D lineman and A couple DB’s to fill out the rest of the early to mid rounders
  13. I agree with the idea of getting another quality receiving threat. I think the best way to leverage talent acquired for this team is to get more weapons for Allen. Allen is the far and away the most important player and getting more quality receiving threats for him has a sort of a multiplier effect. It’s not a coincidence that just about every time a receiver joins the Bills they have their best years ever. Load talent around Allen and a good blocking line and the Bills will always be near the top.
  14. There were really only two receivers who helped make a difference stat wise against the Chiefs, Gabe Davis and Beasley. People just say "Just replace Beasley with McKenzie", it's a different skill set, they both play the game differently, what McKenzie can do well, Beasley can't, what Beasley can do well, McKenzie can't. They both have their value, but I'd be willing to bet you that the league still values Beasley more so than McKenzie. I would love to keep both if they could both be had for $3-4 Million a piece, not sure if we can swing that but if we were to have one, it would be a tough choice.
  15. That was one of my favorite plays of the game. He literally ran into that pass rush fr Ingram and was able to stop on a dime and change direction. Just an amazing play at such a critical point of the game. Dude is a baller
  16. What Marv is suggesting isn’t anything that resembles any football sense but rather a sacrificial offering to appease some fans.
  17. With Josh’s new contract, isn’t he able to convert some of it in a manner to free up more cap space?
  18. I agree, if the market puts him above $6m a year, I don't think the Bills will sign him....Dane Jackson looks like he would be the eventual replacement and would expect the Bills to use one or two draft picks to pick up a DB to replace Wallace if he were to leave.
  19. I honestly believe he and Beane will reflect on what went right and what went wrong and will look to address that. I think one of the things that they will do after they perform an audit on themselves is that they will find that he McD needs to get better with some of his game time decisions. I think they will also start believing that they can be even more aggressive than they have been, they have Josh Freaking Allen, they need to realize that. This team plays better when coaches and players are all with the aggressive mindset. I believe Beane will look at what is happening with the Rams and see that they have a model of urgency. I don't believe he will look to be as aggressive as them but you have to believe that he understands that we are in a SuperBowl window and that window could begin to close somewhat and that they can be aggressive to get that hopeful difference maker. Look at a lot of these successful coaches, Andy Reid and the Eagles parted way because there was a stigma attached to him for not being able to win the big games or Belichek with his first stint. McD is relatively young and he has had tremendous success considering what he was inheriting. He isn't without flaw, OBVIOUSLY, but I honestly believe they will learn painfully so from their mistakes. The Bills have a really good thing going on right now, we are good enough to win a Super Bowl the way we are, it just didn't work out because a lack of situational awareness from the coaches. Last year, they played the Chiefs and tried to address what they needed to beat them. They know what they need to do, it's just a matter of making sure that they draft well and get the players we need in FA. We have Josh Allen, and as long as he is upright and healthy and we surround him with weapons, we will always be in the hunt.
  20. He knows they screwed up and I'm sure he feels worse about it than anyone else. He is a man of integrity and high character and I wouldn't be surprised the "execute" part has more meaning to than we know. In any case, it was a colossal screw up and messed up a team that was good enough to be the Super Bowl winners. The Bills are good enough to win the way we are. With that said, 13 seconds does not and will not define a man who was at the forefront of turning this organization around. He cut out cancers on this team and many fans were outraged that he got rid of them. They ended up being the right decisions, he ended up creating a culture of accountability and brotherhood, he turned this franchise from a 18 year drought laughing stalk to a blossoming perennial power. He brought in Beane who made the decision to get Josh Allen when all the "experts" and people on this board were salivating over "right" Josh. He knew he was going to get his QB the day he was drafted, and traded away picks to make sure he had the draft capital to get his man and they did. For that, we should all be eternally grateful for Beane for doing so. It hurts and it sucks that we lost, specially the way we lost. But in no way shape or form does that take away all the things he has done with this team and I have no doubt in my mind (barring injury to Allen), that this team will reach a Super Bowl or two.
  21. HAHAHAHA This thread is ridiculous. Anyone who thinks that McD is in any danger of losing his job is delusional. McD, rightfully so is on super safe ground. Him being fired hasn't even crossed the mind of the Pegula's. They most likely love him to death and feel extremely fortunate to have him as our head coach as the players do as well. Yes, did they %$@* up the last 13 seconds and everyone knows it. They will never forget those fateful 13 seconds and undoubtedly will be a stain on his career and memories of many people, but he is a damn good coach and he has led the turnaround of this franchise WHICH WILL WIN A SUPERBOWL at some point and most of us are thankful that he is the head coach of the Bills.
  22. Ridiculous - Leslie Frazier has had top 5 and top 10 defenses for 4 out of the last 5 years, without any real superstars. Yes, they got burnt by the Chiefs, but who hasn't? The Chiefs have a great offense and they are playing on all cylinders right now. I think many of these teams that are looking for coaches would love to have a top 5 - top 10 defense. That's not to say that he should be a head coach, but he has been a very good defensive coordinators for the Bills. It's easy to say "fire him" which is ridiculous, to replace him with someone better that shares McD's philosophy would be difficult. If you've paid attention to this organization in how they operate from the Pegulas, to Beane to McD they all preach continuity. This team most likely will look to hire from within to elevate to the position and hopefully the person they elevate will be someone who can add a wrinkle or two to the defense.
  23. You may be right, personally I think he is a $8-$10M a year DB. I know many on this board don't believe he's that good, but he has been good.
  24. Thank you for this write-up, a lot of work you put into it, I appreciate that. I won't get into details but more of a high level overview. - It's easy for people to say cut this guy and cut that guy, but in order to do that, you have to replace them with someone you believe is better. So the Bills have to be very judicious with that which I'm sure they will. - I would definitely bring back Levi Wallace, he had his best year and is worthy as a good low cost #2 DB - With Zimmer returning that gives us flexibility to cut Star and release Butler - Draft a DT for rotational depth - early mid to mid rounder - Keep the offensive line in tact - They played good enough to win a Super Bowl - Draft depth at Center and Guard for hopeful eventual replacements to Morse and Williams - Extend some players and get creative with cap (I think you can convert some of Allen's money to create good cap space) - Go for the best pass rushers possible in FA - Von Miller has made a huge difference for the Rams - He is available and so is Chandler Jones - Hason (sp)? Reddick is available as well. Even if you have to make a trade, inquire on Khalil Mack if need be. Just do whatever it takes to get an effective edge rusher that can consistently get pressure - Let Edmunds play out his 5th year. He is nowhere near as bad as many on this board make him out to be. He is not elite but he is better than average. - Re-Sign Oliver - he is becoming a pro bowl calibur player and I believe he is now believing that he can be one. Confidence is a hell of a drug - Draft two fast and dynamic offensive play makers in the top 3 picks. Allen is the team. Without Allen the Bills are average. Get him playmakers, Look at what Tyreek and Kelce do for Mahomes, they make plays for him. We need more play makers to compliment the best player in the league (Allen). This is what I'd like to see done.
