  1. I would say like most discussions or disagreements they tend to be categorized in black or white terms. Not everything is black or white, I would say most of the time the answers tend to be in the greyish area. To win a Super Bowl, more often than not you have to have a couple things going in your favor, A) That you are a really good football team and B) a little bit of luck. The more of A) you have the less of B) that is needed. The Rams, has a good team but man did they have a lot of luck along the way. They were almost eliminated from winning the Superbowl a few times and if they had not had a play or two go their way, a lot of people would be talking about how stupid it was of them to go all- in and not come away with a title. With that said, I think the statement is true that under the Bills team construct that they had last year, if the coaches and team would have handled what should have been a sure victory the way it should have, there is a decent chance that the Bills would have won the Super Bowl. It truly is a game of inches. What I do know is that this year the Bills will have to fill around 14-19 holes on the team due to the cuts and FA's that will go elsewhere. That is a lot of holes to plug and cannot be done through the draft. At most you can realistically hope that the Bills fill 5-7 through the draft, which means that they have to fill anywhere from 9-14 via FA. Yesterday with tendering Bates, signing Mckenzie and picking up Saffold, Settles and Daquan, the Bills now have around 10-15 more that they have to replace. Which means that there has to be extra room to be made in the CAP to fill those holes. Which according to my behind the napkin math, we should be able to potentially free up another $25 - $30 M year if you extend/restructure Diggs, restructure Dawkins, cut Beasley, cut Matakavich, extend/restructure Edmunds (if the price is right) and a couple other small moves. There is enough money for them to get a Chandler Jones and pick up 9-14 players more that they will need to fill the teams holes. But the margin is super tight and probably would mean that Chandler wouldn't be chasing after the highest bidder to accept the offer that could be made. However, assuming the Bills do a decent job in plugging the rest of the holes, yesterday I thought was a very positive day for the Bills. The Bills weakest part of their offense last year in my opinion was picking up short yardage on needed plays via the RB's because of the line not being able to get the push needed. Saffold helps with that, so in the trenches on offense the Bills upgraded. The weakest part of the defense last year in my view was being able to stop the run in between the tackles and they improved on that front by picking up Settles and Daquan. The Bills attacked the trenches yesterday and on paper the Bills should be a better team in running the ball and stopping the run. The Bills are right there, yes if they get a Chandler Jones it improves the odds even more so and I would think they will go after him, Zadarius Smith, Clowney or Miller. Beane has made many comments on adding speed to the team, winning the trenches and getting after the QB. They addressed the trenches yesterday, and I think they will go after the Edge rusher in the coming days.
  2. They are most likely going to lose at least 15 players this off-season, you can’t come close to filling 15 holes in the draft.
  3. He actually is around 320 and even though PFF has him rated as a better pass rusher he can also obliterate Doubleteams with power
  4. Washington has a lot of talent at that position and it was difficult for him to get a lot of snaps. They say he played well when called upon and looks good enough to get the opportunity to play a lot more snaps. Good pass rushing DT
  5. Absolutely! $10m a year would represent value and a player that knows the system, makes an impact on how teams attack the defense. I just don’t think the Bills will be able to get him at that rate. I wouldn’t be surprised that he ends up somewhere at some point for around the $12m a year range
  6. Very happy about this. Played extremely well at his value when given an opportunity. He should definitely have the inside track at one of the starting guards competition.
  7. Good move for Burrow. I expect them to get another quality FA OL and in the draft
  8. We can take Ogbah off the potential Edge acquisitions board.
  9. According to this, the cap savings is a lot larger than Buscaglia reported
  10. Before his injury last year, he had 26 total sacks the two previous years.
  11. This is another quality pass rusher that is now available to be had. There should be a pretty hot market for this guy.
  12. The initial report was WAAAAY off.
  13. They're coming. Expect Diggs extension any day now and a restructure from Dawkins as well.
  14. Is it possible the Bills make a splash? Sure, but this signing does not indicate that at all. The Bills have at least 15 holes to fill and I think the probability of a Splash move doesn't appear to be likely. I hope that I'm wrong.
  15. Yes, he has a "pay raise", most likely in the form of a bonus that will be spread out over the remainder of the cap and probably his Salary will probably be converted into a bonus to be spread out as well. Probably a cap savings of around $3-$4 million for this year. This actually appears to be a pretty good value signing, if he is able to maintain his play which is above average on pass protection and average for run blocking, it's a good deal for the Bills.
  16. I would but I'm on vacation with the family and this just came off the top of my head.
  17. It’s another hole that will have to be filled. Departures/possible Departures QB - Trubisky RB - Breida, Taiwan Jones WR - Sanders, Beasley OL - Mongo, Darryl Williams,Boettger, Bates, Ford TE - Gilliam, Sweeney DL- Addison, Hughes, Obada, Butler, Star, Phillips LB - Klein, Matakavich DB - Levi Wallace That’s 21 possible departures with a high likelihood of somewhere between 15-18 of them not being on the squad next year. Thats potentially more turnover than we have had in years.
  18. I think the Bills wanted Beasley and when Beasley asked for a trade they went to plan B. Not sure of the contract details but I wouldn’t be surprised that some of it is with incentives and that the cap hit is less than $3m for this year. With Emmanuel and Beasley most likely gone that still means the Bills have to find another two WR’s. The draft is deep with receivers, I think they pick up both there.
  19. Obviously Gronk would be better than Engram, I don't think anyone really disagrees with that. However, if you can't get Gronk or anyone else they really covet as a TE, Engram could serve as a quasi TE/Slot receiver in essence replacing some of Beasley's snaps. He would be a much better blocker at that spot who could come down and do some effective crack back blocking. I think they could get creative with him in the lineup and with his elite athleticism he would present matchup problems for the defense. Does anyone really think that Engram with Josh Allen wouldn't produce a revived Engram? I think we would see the best version of him yet. I think the Bills have a compelling argument to make to obtain his services, reviving his career with a 1-2 year prove it sort of deal which could be had around the $5mish sort of range.
  20. That was a nice block.
  21. As you know, Buffalo uses heavy rotation, if they can't get plan A such as a Chandler, Miller or even Jadaveon, then I wouldn't be surprised that they will look to get someone who is good at getting after the QB and wouldn't be used on many running anticipated downs. The guys I listed would fit the Bill just fine for that purpose.
  22. No doubt that Chandler and Jones are 1 and 2, but any of the guys you just mentioned would be an upgrade to a current version of Addison or Hughes. Obviously we all want one of those two guys, but if you are unable to get them, there are upgrades still available. I think too many people think that there has to be some sort of a remake or something along those lines to win a Championship, I honestly believe we were good enough last year and as luck and a bad decision or two would have it, we didn't do it. Improvements on the margins gives us an excellent shot at Home field advantage.
  23. I think Chandler is #1 or #2 along with Von Miller on the top FA target, but there are other good capable 10+ sack guys to be had.
