It's not a matter of me approving or disapproving their decisions, i dont know how they will turn out and neither do you, so for you to proclaim that Whaley is a better accumulator of talent when Beane hasn't even had a single draft is silly. There is no justifying your statement, zero, zilch. You can doubt their decisions, believe them to be god awful, what have you but you cannot rationally make the proclamation that you did.
-
Really? He hasn't even had one draft and you are already proclaiming Whaley better at "assembling" a team than Beane? Sorry kirby, but that is crazy talk. To give a reasonable judgement you'd have to give him at least through 2 drafts and 2 more off seasons.

step off the curb. McDermot and the GM have us going good.

Facts shmacts. Who needs them? On a serious note, I was a bit surprised with the cut, he did seem to be playing well, but I hardly believe he was some sort of special talent. The hysteria of dropping him doesn't match the occasion. Clearly they made an evaluation and he didn't make the cut. End of story -

Oh. So no one is able to pick him up till tomorrow? So the players that are being picked up now are some sort of different designation or something? -

I'm guessing Jwilliams has been picked up by another team? -
Maybe they'd be willing to trade a 7th for him. Probably not but why would there be discussions between the two knowing they understood the predicament.

It certainly is beginning to appear that way

The Bills Have the 3rd Oldest Team in the NFL
Magox replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You still haven't answered, how many DB's and WR's from last year are still on this team? I would hardly call this a half-ass attempt to reshape this team. What you are advocating for is essentially for them to tank the season and there is a distinct difference between reshaping a team and tanking. -

I don't see it that way, Wood was someone that they made the evaluation right or wrong that is someone who fits into their team. Personally, I think they overpaid. But nonetheless, this was a conscience decision that they made. In regards to bloated contracts, are you talking about TT or Dareus or who exactly? -

Just wondering, are there serious substantiated speculations that JW could be "next"? -

This about as dramatic of a house cleaning as I could have imagined that they would have done. How many WR's and DB's that are currently on this team were here last year? -
Tim Graham: Anti-cronyism in Buffalo with new regime
Magox replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It is quite possible that the evaluations and decisions they are making are incorrect but these are their evaluations, their decisions and they are doing it with full confidence knowing that they will be receiving some flack because of these decisions. People like you and I and many others have been hoping for a complete remake of the organization and that is exactly what we are seeing today. When I think of their approach I think of https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A6gBw-tK82E -

I'm surprised you'd agree with this: You can doubt their decisions but to question their motives as being this cynical and petty is frankly preposterous. There is no evidence that anyone has ever seen that I'm aware of that they have this sort of character. Right or wrong, I am 99% confident that they are building this team the way they want without these trifling sort of motivations that you agreed with. -

The bolded part is the point that I've been trying to make. They have the mandate and time to build this team from the ground up the way they envision it. The success or failure will be squarely attributed to their decisions. -

Step right up. Don't be afraid! Go on record right here!
Magox replied to Beast's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I believe this will be the case as well. Too many good football people have given high praise for McD and Beane, they are both regarded as competent and detailed oriented and the big x factor is that they have the mandate from the Pegulas to build this team looking towards the future. Meaning they have been given time to do their thing. Imo -
Trade - Car WR Clay to Bills for CB K Seymour & 7th rd pick
Magox replied to Reed83HOF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This team as-is, is a long way from being a finished product. They've accumulated alot of draft picks over the next two years and will have lots of cap room to fill out the team. The team is going to look dramatically different 2 years from now than what it does today, but what will be the same is the system and some core players. -
Article:Beane's team-building in Buffalo& couldnt be happier
Magox replied to BillsFan4's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I know a lot of the new regimes detractors aren't having any of it. But, the article was certainly insightful and shows that Beane was prepared for the interview and is definitely a detailed oriented guy. -

Magox replied to Bronxbomber21's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Did anyone see me say That? However, it wouldn't be a stretch to say that if Whaley had stayed put and chose any of those 3 WRs and kept the first rounder that the team would have been much better off. It was one of Whaleys worst decisions and likely contributed to him no longer being the GM -

But he did exchange 2 first rounders for Sammy when he could have kept the first rounder and got OBJ or Kelvin Benjamin or Mike Evans. Thanks for the reminder -

Magox replied to Reed83HOF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That is truly remarkable and almost unheard of. I would also venture to guess that 2 years from now that over half of the WRs and DBs will no longer be with this team as the turnover will come from mostly new draft picks -

When an organization has had its roots yanked out and completely redone from the scouting department, trainers, GM, management coaches and players it's natural that there will be resistance, frustration and confusion from fans. People are creatures of habit and there is comfort with familiarity. These guys have the mandate to build this organization from the bottom up the way they they want to envision it. I'm not endorsing or criticizing their decisions until the final product of these actions play out. But what I do endorse is the fact that they are doing it their way. No half pregnant approach, no melding of philosophies, this is all on them. For too long we've had new coaches come in with tinkering of the edges approach. I always thought that in order to turn this organization around that wholesale changes were going to be needed to be made. These guys may fail, these decisions may be terrible, but I will reasonably make my judgement after the decisions play out. -
