Are teams trading too many assets to get a QB?
bobobonators replied to DefenseWins's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I dont think its as clear cut as whatever it takes needs to be done to land a QB. Obviously a QB is an integral component of any SB team, but you still need a good all-around team and a little luck sprinkled in to win it all. If it was as simple as landing a great QB, Rodgers and Brees would have more than a single SB each. Rodgers and Brees are easily top 5 QBs to ever play the game - youd expect them to have multiple SB victories by now. Look at someone like Rivers - hes a compiler, sure, but still a pretty damn good QB. The guy never even sniffed a SB. How many losing seasons did the Chargers have? You look at someone like Eli Manning, who was a good QB but never elite. But then in the post season the dude just had magic. The giants had a lot of average seasons with him. Someone like Matt Ryan. How many crap seasons have the Falcons had? Russel Wilson in Seattle. Hes an elite QB but that franchise has been kinda lost since the 12th man died and beast mode left. There are so many examples, I can go on. You need numerous components clicking on all cylinders to have a long-lasting winning franchise - HC, GM, QB. Some good ole fashioned luck doesnt hurt either. Im confident we are at that point now with McD, Beane and Allen. -
Share a story that reveals your Bills dedication

My dad wasnt a football fan. I grew up near NYC. Since my fandom wasnt inherited, I had my pick of teams to root for. I couldve chosen to root for the Giants - a winning franchise. Heck I couldve rooted the Cowgirls, since there were plenty of those fans around even in NY. Instead I chose to root for the blue-collar city and the underachieving franchise instead. Almost 40yrs of misery. Ive never wavered, and id pick them again every single time. -

Exactly. Why anyone thinks Beane would be fleeced by the Eagles for Ertz is perplexing. Beane is a savage savant. -

If they get him you know the deal is going to be team friendly and theyre not going to give up a lot. The eagles dont have much leverage. -

Texans coaching staff on Watt - bitter or truthful?
bobobonators replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
1. Congratulations on your metamorphosis. 2. You are comparing apples to oranges. You are comparing yourself at 12/13 and how you finished at 17/18. Those are absolute key years in physical development for a man, assuming what you are telling us is even accurate. 3. in that picture Watt is already in college. Hes a man. Hes already reached his growth spurt, for the most part. 4. looking at the pictures he tripled in size, all while maintaining speed, agility and minimal body fat. NFL training facilities and coaching staffs are elite. However, they are unable to turn water into wine. Watt is likely paying the price now later in his career bc his body is clearly breaking down. Yes, this is all conjecture by me. Its an educated guess based on what we know about sports and how theyre littered with PEDs. -

Source: LB Matt Milano looking for “top dollar” in FA
bobobonators replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Lots of Milano hate on here. Cant blame the guy for wanting to get top dollar. Meanwhile there was so much love for Watt, who already made his millions during his career. This is Milano’s shot to make it count. Hopefully we’re able to bring him back but if it doesnt work out then wish him the best. -
What About Watson for Jag's No. 1 Pick?
bobobonators replied to st pete gogolak's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Watson is worth more than Lawrence. The #1 pick is there for the opportunity to draft a player that will be as good or better than Watson, with no guarantee itll actually happen. The reason why it would never happen is not bc of Jax its bc of Houston. Would we trade Allen to the Patriots? Come on man. -

NFL training facilities and coaches are one thing - tripling in size in 10yrs has nothing to do with either. i dont care if players use PEDs, since im sure its more common than is let on by the NFL. -

I completely believe this. I have no connections. He has always come off as fake to me. Ive never liked him for that reason. -
According to ESPN’s PRWR, Jerry Hughes was the 2nd best DE/OLB in the NFL at shedding his blocker within 2.5 seconds. As we all know, Jerry Hughes is not even a top 15 pass rusher in the NFL anymore (love the guy). And he was tied for FIRST with TJ Watt in the NFL in this category. Honestly, its laughable. You can come up with a metric for anything. Hughes had 4.5 sacks. The wrong Watt had 5 sacks. At some point lets put the advanced metrics away and get down to the meat and potatoes: Watt has missed 32 games in 5 years. He has had 1 great season in 5 years. 5 NFL years in real years might as well be a decade. Watt is a name at this point and not much more. He was great, and you want him bc you’re still stuck on what he used to be. To argue otherwise, and bring up pass rush win rate when double teamed and 70 degrees out with winds blowing from the NW, lacks candor. Yes, you want the name.

Its definitely a concern. Its probably wrong for me to think this way but im not really counting on Star next season. Covid is not going to disappear in 6-8mo and im sure the NFL will give players the ability to opt out again for Covid reasons. Last season showed the position is a need if Star is not available.

What if Star was not coming back?

Who would you rather have? Kawaan Short or Watt? Short: had 32.5 sacks (seventh-most in franchise history and most for a Panthers defensive tackle), 280 total tackles, 59 tackles for loss and 88 quarterback hits during his eight seasons in Carolina. From 2015-17, Short was third among all NFL defensive tackles in sacks (24.5), fourth in tackles for loss (35) and fifth in quarterback hits (52). His 11 sacks in 2015 are the most by a defensive tackle in a season in team history. Both are a gamble bc of injury history.
