IF they finish last in 2016... can you really say that and believe it? Last place with cap issues? Yet one more glaring error in head coach? I hope they do well as I do every season. If they fall back though... they obviously need an outside/experienced builder to right the ship. The Brandon-Nix-Whaley era would have produced nothing.

the Super Bowl is not coming to Buffalo maybe a college bowl game, but 12,000 people would attend and it would 'feature' teams such as Rice vs UConn Wrestlemania and Final Four are possible one-off gets Possibly they could snipe a Syracuse or Penn State vs Notre Dame neutral site game (one time) and it would be a pretty big event.

NFL Execs say Bills should get moving on new stadium
May Day 10 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I have said it before, but Buffalo does not have the clientele for all the Bells and Whistles a shiny/sterile new facility offers for high prices. Buffalo fans are there mainly for football. Winning would/could move the pricing much more than a new dome stadium would. We have a great stadium and experience that fans of other teams rave about/envy. To be honest, if you take this team and their 17-20 year playoff drought and counting, plop them into a shiny facility and ask me for double the money or more.... and I'm out. Show me some MEANINGFUL games for ONE TIME, and my metal bleacher seat and Ill gladly pay more. I am sure the Pegulas/other parties are taking that into account. Its not like we have 500,000 high rollers living in $1,000,000 condos piled on top of one another in downtown proper. Also, no matter how many times people say it, a downtown football stadium DOES NOT do anything to reinvigorate a city. Many studies plainly show this. I have attempted to list the events a new facility would hold downtown and it barely gets to 20/year including UB Football. We will see. It is obvious that this will not be addressed, at least publicly in the near-term. Around 2020, we may be hearing what preparations are being done for the next lease. The local economy, state of the NFL, etc could be different at that point as it is now. IMO the best of all worlds is a segmented major renovation to the current stadium done over the course of a few offseasons in order to not displace the Bills. Would/may have to start September completely on the road. Give the current fan base enough perks, maybe jazz up the suites and clubs. Hell, add on seats. Keep the place going for 100 years. Its good enough for Lambeau, Arrowhead, Wrigley, Fenway, etc. Would like a unique, old stadium instead of Ford Field 6.0 -
NFL Execs say Bills should get moving on new stadium

I also wouldnt put much stock into Mara's veiled language about the Bills in WNY. IMO he is just speaking out of habit. Its like someone who has been dealt pocket Aces 12 hands in a row and suddenly didn't get that deal this time. It is an interesting dynamic that many saw when Pegula bought the team. Pegula doesnt have it in him to hold the city for ransom. He also has financial stake and also 5-10 years of putting out an image of "great guy/family". Then you have the bloodthirsty owners. On the other hand, will the state/county really bargain in good faith if Pegula isnt threatening? We also have the Delaware North angle -

Before any of these decisions are made, I would like to see this franchise resemble a living, breathing NFL franchise and end this experience of futility that has nearly passed the point of statistical impossibility. If this team can go on a roll for a few years... not even Super Bowl. Just something like the Pittsburgh Pirates. A top 5-8 team in the league, playoffs, a few home playoff games where the crowd/city is put on display with an amazing atmosphere. They will be able to raise the price of tickets pretty steadily with the current setup. -
I loved the guy. Very sad to hear the news today.

I really like the Astros to take another step.

Pats wheeling and dealing, trade for Martellus Bennet
May Day 10 replied to FireChan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Bennett isn't really that good -
Word. It's always been so critical for them to get home field to play playoff games in the palace of cheating. 4 games without Brady hurts that

Philly reporter takes shots at Buffalo

I have had an authentic Philly Cheesesteak with Cheese Whiz and it was wonderful -
Philly reporter takes shots at Buffalo

This "joke" is so played out and not relevant. I have lived both places and both cities have wonderful things to offer, as well as drawbacks. Also, how is Lake Erie 35 miles from Buffalo? -
Not Another Schopp & Bulldog Thread
May Day 10 replied to sir andrew's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I think the larger problem is the management/program managing. The topics and format is so tired. I believe something like 200 days in the past 4 years the entire show has been dedicated to the Bills QB situation. Every show: Bulldog takes the side most in line with the fans, Schopp take the other side/unpopular opinion, take callers (the same rotation of callers I dont care to hear from). Please, cover other stuff... and circle back to the Buffalo teams. I would be interested in hearing about other local sports.... even non-local. Discuss MLB (other than any "hot" topic that is top news that day). Discuss NBA (im not even a fan). It would be so refreshing. Beating the Sabres and Bills to dust makes for terrible programming. IMO this was one of the things that made Empire Sports and WNSA so great. It would cover a much wider variety of things, and you would look forward to them hitting the Bills and Sabres. Now it is like eating nothing but one flavor ice cream for breakfast, lunch, and dinner for 10 straight years. -
Are the Dolphins a concern for you?
May Day 10 replied to gr8billsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not at all. Much like the Bills, and to an extent, the Jets. They can make all the moves in the world.... but until they prove it, I cant take them seriously. -

May Day 10 replied to sir andrew's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I agree. I don't understand entirely why people here gush for sal. To me he just sounds like a semi-knowledgeable fan who yells into the microphone. He is also a complete bills lackey and they could do no wrong. I thought buscaglia was 100x better in that role. It felt like he was objective, and also lived for homework (sal has a young kid and can't do nearly as much). I like schopp... unfortunately, his wheelhouse isn't allowed to be discussed on wgr. Sometimes he is rough to listen to doing 15 hours a week on only the bills and sabres. I think nonstop talk on that station about just the 2 teams gets very tiresome -
Futurama is great.

Bills' 2016 Season Ticket Sales Already Over 52K
May Day 10 replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah. Russell Brandon sold those tickets -
I think Duff's is good. Not the best in town, but way better than Anchor Bar and better than most. Mild wings would likely be bad.

Why not utilize the penalty box for the NFL

Maybe for a pass interference greater than 20 yards? -
Pats win SB because Brady's feelings are hurt
May Day 10 replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Back in Manning's day, pre 2014, he would be worth the price of admission/a ticket. Watching him run an offense and fling the ball everywhere was awesome. But yeah, its tough to get over the past 2 years looking at Manning as its fresh. I would never classify Brady as an "I have to buy a ticket to see this guy" QB. Most times it seems their offense is predicated on "guessing correctly". They go for the sideline pass, slant pass, seam to TE, or a RB draw at the perfect times. Players are wide open and run after they have the ball. Now it does take mental skill to run the "system" or whatever you would call that as well as deliver the ball... but I dont know. Im not even sure if Brady has that extensive of a "highlight reel" of awesome/athletic plays. -

May Day 10 replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I just cant give it to him. Hitting slant passes and somehow "guessing" the defenses doesnt equate to best-ever for me. With all the questions surrounding him and Belichick... cant do it. Cant get over it. Looking at Manning over his career, he was so much more impressive. At least by the eyeball test. I would also say Marino and Elway were better. If you shrouded those guys in a "system" like Brady enjoys... as well as modern passing rules... I think they would have much more impressive careers Also being more "motivated" there means cheating extra hard.
