Official Schopp and Bulldog Thread
metzelaars_lives replied to Ol Dirty B's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah, you're right. They should be super pumped when they talk about the Sabres. And the Bills going into last week, coming off maybe the worst three game stretch in Bills history. Dude, being a Buffalo sports fan is harrowing. And they're not even that negative- certainly not compared to, say, Bucky Gleason and Jerry Sullivan. -

In what areas do they lack knowledge? I realize it's pretty much football and hockey but I think they are both pretty well versed in their understanding of both sports. And how in God's name could you expect sports talk hosts not to be negative in Buffalo, NY- especially compared to Boston!! -
Official Schopp and Bulldog Thread
metzelaars_lives replied to Ol Dirty B's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Schopp and Bulldog criticism is so played out. They're good. I live in Denver, which is a substantially bigger sports market than Buffalo, and the afternoon drive guys are the worst. They have two guys, just like Schopp and the Bulldog, and one of them, former NFL linebacker Alfred Williams, posed the question a few weeks ago as to whether or not Martellus Bennett is a Hall of Famer. It has become apparent that the only people who incessantly complain about Schopp and the Bulldog are people who have never left Buffalo and never listened to drive time sports talk radio in other cities, as to have a frame of reference. They're good at what they do. If I had one complaint, it would be that they always agree with each other (aka Bulldog doesn't possess the wit to argue with Schopp) and they never really have differing opinions. But the dialogue is much smarter and high level than what you find here in Denver. And NY sports talk radio is terrible also. Relax with the Schopp and Bulldog bashing already. Not to mention, this thread has been posted at least 50 times, this is nothing new. -
Who's been most screwed by the Bills? Of All Time.

EJ Manuel "played well throughout his rookie year?" -
Consistent? Say what you want about the guy but has anyone been more consistent than Tyrod Taylor? He is a model of consistency.

Schopp: Taylor is better than you think.

Run off in the sense that I would get into such intense debates that I would end up accruing warning points, which led to an eventual long term suspension. -

I was pretty much run off of this website for insisting that 1) EJ Manuel sucked and then 2) that Tyrod Taylor wasn't that bad. And it was always the same 5-6 people who insisted the opposite of both of those. -
Like Theo Fleury? And Matt Light? And David Garrard? And Larry Nance, Jr...

McBrothers "Silent Tank" occurring?
metzelaars_lives replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Bills' hierarchy definitely wants to lose. That being said, you still got 53 men trying as hard as they can so it's not shocking that they've won a few games. It's not like the players are ever trying to lose. But if the team was trying to win, they would've done something about the WR position after Matthews went down. They would've also addressed their RB depth by now. It's like a 75% tank. It's not like they're gonna win the Super Bowl this year. Watching the game last night should make it clear to everyone what their ultimate objective is here. And I'm on board with it. -
As someone who has been going to games for 30+ years, has lived in Colorado for 15 years and was at that game, I can tell you that a) yes, there were a good 3-4,000 Broncos fans at that game and b) the vast, vast majority of them were Canadians who simply pick a favorite NFL team. It happens anytime the Bills host a semi-high profile team like the Packers or the Raiders or the Patriots- "hey when did you get in from Wisconsin?" "Oh actually I'm from Mississauga but the Packers have always been my team..." In fact, the same thing happens at Sabres games. Canadians randomly pick teams in American sports. I have a buddy in Denver from Toronto who is a diehard White Sox fan. That's just what they do.

Tyron's QBR was NOT 125. His passer rating was 125. The QBR scale only goes to 100.

Agreed 100%. JJ Watt should have kept his mouth shut after Harvey too and stuck to his tackling. -
Howard and Jeremy amateur hour

Agreed completely. People love to pile on GR- it's actually a very solid sports talk radio station start to finish, especially considering its market size. Every NFL head coach is obsessed with running the ball? Every NFL head coach goes run-run-pass the majority of the time? Every NFL head coach seeks to get more touches to a plodding 30-something fullback than his wide receivers each game? Do you ever watch, say, the Patriots or the Falcons or the Packers or any of the good teams play? -

Ehh Rex Ryan is pretty stupid. -
2003. They started out 2-0 and they were ranked #2 in ESPN's power ranking behind the Chiefs. Interesting to note, the Bills have started out good in 2008, 2011 and 2014- every three years. Perhaps that pattern continues this year. Doubt it though.

How can TY Hilton be overrated? He led the NFL in receiving yards last year and he's still going in like the fourth round of fantasy drafts.
-
He did very well in the MWC last year- his first as a starter.
