  1. Nobody ever said it didn’t. Again people take this too black and white and too literally. Of course needs play a role, but once the board is set Beane is saying he will stay true to it whether it’s offensive or defensive. And outside QB, there isn’t a position on this team that won’t be on beanes early board that can’t be upgraded. Has nothing to to do with Kiper rankings, mock drafts, etc.
  2. Not sure what’s confusing about it. They traded up to get the BPA on their board. That’s the whole point of trading up, to get a coveted player at top of a teams board that is available still but won’t last until their pick. People take these statements too literally. It doesn’t mean BPA based on mock drafts or Kipers loud mouth opinion of who the best guy on board is. It means BPA on that teams board. If a team has a pro bowl QB, they aren’t going to draft a QB if he is BPA, in fact QB won’t even be on their early board. BPA is already factoring in team specific needs or areas they can improve on. Beane is saying he’s not afraid to take a defensive player if he makes the team better even though the defense is better than the offense right now. What Beane means is that he is not going to reach to take a player at a position of a bigger need over a better player at a position where we may not be as weak, but said player would still be an upgrade and help the team more. BPA has and always will be a reflection to the players the team put on their specific board, and not all players will be on each teams board based on where they are set and where they can improve. Another example: A RB may be the BPA to some people, but a team may not prioritize RB as high as DE, so on a teams board they value a DE higher than a RB and that’s DE will be the BPA on that teams board. BPA is very subjective team by team. PS: Bills drafted Spiller because they foolishly listened to Gaileys demand for a “scat back” and more foolishly thought the roster was good enough to draft for luxury.
  3. Thats the case with any challenges. They are already limited. For instance, instead of PI on that play, say the WR catches the ball..but in replay, its not really a catch but Rams are out of challenges. Tough cookies, they are stuck with refs call even though it was clearly not a catch, refs just didn't see it hit ground. Thats the nature of challenges and having a limited amount. You could literally challenge every single play if you wanted in terms of spotting the ball, holding, hands to the face, etc. It would break the game. Giving them a limited number of challenges puts some control in their hands without breaking the game. Challenging every play is not a viable option. But this at least can help in a lot of these situations.
  4. Gave McCoy the opportunity to tell his side of the story on the off field stuff. Discussed if he was worried it would impact his career, which he isn’t and said team was behind him. Discussed a little about his year and McCoy cited the significance of losing their “best lineman” in Incognito, and also Wood and Glenn. Also mentioned how tough it is to have 4 QBs in 16 games due to injuries, especially to their “star rookie”. But said he’s confident in Beane and McD to get the right pieces and expects to be in playoffs as he doesn’t feel we are that far off. Then they discussed if penalties should be challengeable, McCoy and Stephen A both said no they shouldn’t be while Max said yes. Then discussed if Rams can pressure and get to Brady. McCoy said if Rams blitz Brady he will make them pay. Said he’s a Buffalo Bill and picks Rams, but needs to get pressure up middle, not from blitzing or Brady will make them pay. McCoy was then asked about Wentz and Foles and he was very complimentary of both QBs. They put him on spot who he would want if he was on Eagles and in playoff game, admits he is biased because Foles is his friend so he would take Foles but was very complimentary on Wentz still and said he’s a baller.
  5. You missed it in my original post...not unlimited, what I suggested was to give coaches one more challenge per half in total. So they will have 3 challenges per half to accommodate for some additional plays to potentially challenge. So won't impact game that much. Could limit the 3rd challenge flag to only be used on penalty or missed penalty challenges too.
  6. I have a simpler solution. First: Make pass interference challengeable. They can challenge a PI flag, or challenge FOR A FLAG on a play they believe a flag should have been thrown. Second: Make roughing the passer flags challengeable, BUT ONLY thrown flags. You cant challenge that a flag should have been thrown, only dispute a thrown flag. Third: Give the coaches one more challenge flag per half to accommodate the new challenges. NOTE: If coach is challenging that a flag SHOULD have been thrown, they must indicate on the challenge that they are asking for a review to get a PI penalty. Fixed.
  7. All good, but I’m not saying it’s ok, I’m saying it’s over exaggerated.
  8. Not to defend Pats, but they didn’t win multiple championships over cheating. They won multiple championships because they have the GOAT at QB and the GOAT HC. Jerry Rice admitted to using stick em...aka cheating outside the rules...should he be removed from the HOF and have his records vacated? What about Aaron Rodgers who admits he over inflated the balls because he likes them firmer...should he be kicked out of the league? Deflate gate was a waste of time as is all the cheating impact over exaggerations. They win because they are better, plain and simple. Tough pill to swallow, but’s it’s the truth. Dont get me wrong, I get hating them and thats warranted, especially for Bills fans. But they win cuz they are better and have two GOATs at QB and HC.
  9. Why are you quoting me for that statement? I just said Pats will win IMO and I am fine with it, still gonna enjoy the game.
  10. Yes I would truthfully feel the same way unless he was being outlandish or inappropriate. In fact all of us would likely be saying “Well he isn’t wrong” and the post getting like 20 thumbs ups, 8 trophies, and 7 beers. As long as he is a good teammate and good in the locker room, I don’t care what his opinions are about people who got fired. I mean they were fired for a reason, so don’t have an issue if players are honest. However, do I prefer how Josh Allen handles it, yes absolutely and totally agree with you that he’s great at it. But to each their own, some people handle things differently, so not going to judge or condem how another man approaches those questions as long as they are not crossing some lines and he’s a good teammate and player for the guys currently in the locker room.
  11. Not true at all. I’m not someone whose life is miserable because of the Pats. I appreciate greatness, so has no Bills fan biased in my opinion. I’ve made this argument for OT on this board for as long as I have been on it regarding OT discussions. I hated the old OT rules, and while what we have is better than before, it’s still not balanced and needs to be adjusted. For over 20 years I have said both teams need to have the ball once, and even was critical of this when they made the rule change. Sorry to disappoint, but I would have felt the same and always felt this way if it was reversed and Chiefs got ball first and won on TD. The only difference is you would be calling me a Pats fan for making this argument in that case.
  12. I have been saying this same argument over 20 years, has nothing to do with yesterdays game. I’m only citing that game as that’s the one in discussion. Rodgers, Brees, Brady, Montana, Elway, Kelly, Manning, Warner, Marino, etc almost always had an advantage having the ball first vs most defenses. It’s a rare defense when those guys aren’t on an offense that is Better than the opposing defense. Again, anytime a random event can determine an advantage it’s not a fair and balanced sysytem. Both teams getting the ball once, is 100% of the time fair. Coin flip, not always a fair outcome. Brady bs Chiefs D not a fair competition as Pats O > Chiefs D. So only way to balance is give both teams one possession, then always fair and results are based on contributions of the full teams, not one unit of it.
  13. Pretty much how I feel. I respect greatness and history. But had Bills been hitting a wall just because they couldn’t get passed Pats, then I would hate them more.
  14. Did the refs screw this up big time, yes absolutely. Difference in winning or losing though was when they passed (incomplete) on first down instead of running. That was a bigger factor than the PI as the PI never happens if they run on first down. It was the dumbest call I have seen in a big moment like this. And Saints had multiple chances to still win the game after the PI and failed to do so. Yet PI getting called there doesn’t guarantee a win either. Still, none of this has anything to do with the NFL rigging the game. And Rams or Saints making SB has almost no measurable benefit in the scope of risking a $100B corporation on it. They simply need to make judgement calls reviewable like PI and roughing the passer.
  15. Im a Rams fan. Pats will win. Goff isn’t as good as the offense has suggested. Mahomes > Goff as he doesn’t get rattled. Goff gets rattled when pressure can get to him. Bears showed the blue print and he hasn’t been the same since. Not pooping on Goff, I like him, but just being unbiased about where he’s been weaker. He’s still a great young QB, but this is the kind of game where BB feasts on confusing young QBs. Honestly, I am ok with it if the Pats do win, will just enjoy watching the game and having fun with friends and witnessing greatness and history as a football fan.
  16. Its never a given. Rules aren’t about what’s a foregone conclusion, it’s about whether or not it creates an imbalanced advantage. Brady vs KC gives Pats a significant advantage. Just like Mahomes vs Pats D would be an advantage. Pats O > KC D KC O > Pats D To let a coin decide who gets to play from their teams strength (in both cases it’s their offense) and which team plays from their weakness (both teams it’s their D) is not a fair and balanced solution unless both teams have to field their O and D once in OT by giving each team a guaranteed 1 possession.
  17. I do completely agree with you tht the PI was horrendous, no denying. But it’s run 100% of the time on first down there. You have an explosive offense on the other side tht doesn’t need a lot of time to get into FG range, you have to be smart in that situation and whoever made that call IMO made a critical mistake. But Saints had multiple chances to still win the game after the PI and didn’t get the job done after that. Not running there impacted their outcome more than the non call interference IMO.
  18. Respectuflly disagree. The pass happened first and was one of the worst decisions I have seen by a HC in a big moment. PI play doesn’t even happen had they run on first down.
  19. Here is the issue. Tom Brady vs KC defense. Who has the advantage? Massive NE advantage, and a coin decided that. Mahomes and KC offense vs Pats defense? Who has the advantage? Easy KC. Again coin decides that advantage had they won it. If a chance based procedure (the coin flip) can result in giving either team any kind of significant advantage, it’s not a fair and balanced system IMO.
  20. Youre also over looming the fact college the ball starts in scoring range, NFL is a kickoff. Massive difference.
  21. This ^^^^^ They lost the game on THIS call, not PI not being called. They still had chances to win game after PI incident, however this call on first down is the literal biggest contributor to this loss. Non PI Call was horrific mistake by Refs, no doubt. But the biggest blunder was that terrible decision to pass on first down.
  22. Really don’t see what the issue is here as none of this is really some kind of OMG moment. I mean players criticize ex coaches and players all the time. Today, players have mics in their face from media and wannabe media all day and night being baited to say click bait stuff. Also, younger players grew up with social media as an outlet to be expressive, so not really a shock when young players say something edgy in social media. Personally, who really cares anyway? Why do fans hang on every word now and over analyze and characterize people off every sound bite? They are football players, all I care about is how they play football. It’s a game, entertainment, etc...not life. As long as they aren’t committing crimes, I could really care less about what they of coaches say.
  23. Thats not an adavantage though. That’s the first team failing to score, in other words blowing their chance. And college is different, ball starts in scoring range, NFL ball I kicked off. First team doesn’t capitalize on their chance, then they should lose more often. No that’s not true. Defense is part of every possession. So saying both teams deserve a possession directly includes the defense. No one is ignoring it, it’s built into the statement already. Both teams should be on the field. One possession in OT means only half of both teams contributed to OT, one offense and one defense. Football is a team game, they got to OT as a team. Seems silly to have only half that team and a coin determine a winner without the other half of both teams also being put on the field as well.
