  1. This contract scaled according to the $$$s at the time in the Kelly era, would be pretty darn risky. Why? QBs used to get the snot beat out of them. Hits to the head, hits to the knees, full blown blow ups by the DEs, body slams. Not no more. QBs are playing flag football these days while everyone else is playing tackle. If Josh got hit like Kelly got hit, I doubt he would be in the league long based on his style of play. But with the QB force protection rules enacted, we see QBs playing into their mid forties. The fact that Buffalo structured it for maximum flexibility shows me, and soon the league, why Josh and the Bills are doing it right. And in four years when the Jets QB comes up for his 5th year option and renewal, and the Jets are looking down the barrell of a 325+M contract, they'll look back on this contract and realize what a good contract it was for the team and the player. If I am the Jets, I would be more worried about the contracts Lance, Burrows, Fields, Jones and Lawrence may get/will get and worry much more about their impact on Wilson's contract than what Josh Allen and Buffalo have done. I'd also say kudos to the Bills for getting this done before the season started. Sure everyone says it didn't matter, but I think we all know it does and would. It removes a potential distraction for the players and team and allows them to focus on the task at hand. It does not surprise me it got done. This FO just seems to do things right. What an astonishing change after wandering the coaching, QB-ing, and GM-ing desert for what seems like most of my adult life.
  2. I honestly think JA17 became a national media reality when all these day time talking heads, night time fantasy football players (pundits playing in leagues) started noticing they were losing to him each week last year. That’s when his profile starting coming up. He lead many fantasy leagues in points. That’s what gets noticed by the rank and file. And it didn’t hurt that he was pretty dang good on a four week stretch of national broadcast games last year.
  3. Yeah I caught that. Also gives Lamar credit for 2.5 good years and Josh only one, when it could be argued 1.5ish..
  4. I polled one of my friends who is a staunch Brownie. He says what just about everyone in the media was saying yesterday. Allen 43, Mayfield 40. He knows his team, salaries and structures, like many on here do with the Bills. He thinks that's what the Browns can afford. The more interesting topic is LJ8. I live in the Baltimore region, so I am surrounded by purple. Baltimore can probably go north of 43 as they have what feels like manageable contracts and projected contracts. LT Stanley got paid last year. After that, it's hard to think of anyone breaking or going to break the Baltimore bank accept maybe the secondary guys like Humphreys. The intriguing question about LJ8 is whether they can afford to go north of 43 and continue to expose him to hits on running plays. I'm not here to argue LJ8's QBing ability. I would be concerned as an owner if I have to give him 151+M guaranteed and then have him get hurt because the style of play that fits his skill set is atypical and risky to long term tenure in the league. That guaranteed money could hamper your team for years to come. Should make for some interesting short term deliberations and long term vision of how LJ8's career unfolds. Of course the same argument has been proferred by various talking heads yesterday that JA17 also exposes himself to a lot of punishment by his style of play. Can you take the JA17 stiff arm of Aaron Donald out of his game? Should you now that you have locked him up for 8 years?
  5. This might be the nicest Nick has been to Josh when talking about him. I know it may not be a popular opinion on here, but I like Nick Wright. Sure he is a Chief's fan and fanboy of MyMahommy. But watching him speak about Josh over the last year, he is grudgingly coming around. And maybe that is just the best testament of Josh Allen. Slowly, surely, inevitably, he is winning over his toughest critcs. He is the least egocentric NFL player I can remember. He not only elevates his play and his teammates, but he is a great interview. He never gives you a cringe moment. His charisma smarms the interviewers, fans and critics alike. I have so many non-Bills fans, being an expat, that tell me they love watching the Bills and Josh Allen now. There is something about his story, his withering criticisms he endured by the media, and his humbling worth ethic that just draws you in. And we get to enjoy the ride for the next 8 years.
  6. Media sure is gushing over JA17 throws today. Uniformly gushing...
  7. 2nd year anniversary is cotton.. Wonder where he could get some cotton.....
  8. Me too. Second year in a row. I have had Sunday Ticket from it's inaugural season. I have never asked for a discount. Nice surprise.
  9. He will be paying some hefty NYS Income Taxes though, so in a sense, he is helping pay off the new stadium too. 🙂
  10. Lost in all of this is JA17's agent is also a richer man today.
  11. I hope they do. The quickest way to ruin is to overpay your QB to the detriment of the other 52 guys wanting to get paid too.
  12. So what does that mean for next year, cap wise when trying to sign Diggs and whoever else will want to get paid?
  13. My son is in his second year as a CSU Ram.. Not much to cheer about. We are flying out in October for the Parents Weekend and going to the game.
  14. Bills specific 1. Beasley will lead the team in yards 2. Ed Oliver gets 9.5 sacks on the season to lead the Bills 3. Taron Johnson continues his pick six ways and leads the team in INTs (kid has an Ed Reed nose for the ball) 4. Tyler Big-Balls-Bass has two 60+ yard FGs made on the season 5. Allen hits 72% completion rate for the season NFL specific 1. Fields starts in Chicago Week 1 2. Prescott Leads the League in passing yards 3. Pitts wins ROTY 4. Belichick stays with Cam Newton all season 5. Jon Gruden is fired
  15. I think I'll just drop this here. My guess we will see this at some point this season.
  16. I agree. There are only so many throws in a game. Sanders is going to get his looks. Beasley and Knox too. A few to the backs. After Diggs gets his 10 targets that doesn't leave that many left to go around. During the Diggs interview earlier this week with the media, he all but said that too.
  17. Giddy.. That's what I am these days. Giddy.. We have waited so long for this. So long...
  18. Anyone think they gave him all the reps today because of the national media attention? Were they shopping him today? First this week Rodgers comes out and specially calls him out, again. Then he is a featured receiver on national media day. Me thinks he is gone.
  19. I'm always amazed at how truly big these guys are. I once stood side-by-side next to Bruce Smith when he was in civilan clothes and I couldn't get over how much bigger he was than me. Seeing the final frame of this video and Star walking up the tunnel you get a sense of how wide and thick his core is. He is a stump.
  20. Finally got a chance to watch the Wallace interview. What composure. So articulate in his responses. So comfortable in his abilities and what he needs to/wants to do to get to the next level.
  21. If history holds, Fitzpatrick should be available around week 6.
