  1. I thought Metropolis and Modern Times were awesome in their own right. Just so glad to see there are some here who have an appreciation for original films. Thanks for the linkies Pete. Geez this footage is beyond compare. This and the 1905/1906 footage of SF.
  2. Damn.. Dr. What an amazing treat this is to watch one of the first films ever made. Over a century ago. Thank you so much for posting.
  3. We talk about Bills talent. But this little guy is real talent. Spectacular.
  4. Thanks Cap, your vid was refreshing. Borrowing from another poster's saying... he looks like he's a small crying cloud. I can't wait to see Marcel and co putting marcia on his back... over and over...and over...again... Here's my itty bitty contribution. http://www.popoholic.com/video2.php?idvideo=296 Gorgeous and talented. This lovely lady has it all. Great linky Dr.
  5. Thanks Buftex for the past info regarding Cookie. I'm still learning about pre 86-87 Bills. Your reflections about him and Saban are helping to fill in the gaps. It does seem like the wall is made up of Ralph's favorite players. I could be wrong but, if this is so, does the wall matter much? The wall should be a place of respect and reverence to those who exhibited the glory in our team. But if it's only made up of great players (who did not besmirch Ralph) then what really is the wall's significance? I want the Wall to be full of the players who have brought out the best in the Bills. If some of the players who should be on the wall (who aren't) have sullied Ralph's ego, then he can go suck it. But since he is the owner he has the prerogative to do as he wishes. If Ralph has only unbiased notions as to who should be on the wall then that is fine too. I like Phil Hansen. I always have had respect for him. He deserves to be on the wall. But others should have gone on the wall before him.
  6. The last one of a historic era has passed and hardly anyone gives a crap. What will it be like in about 27+ years when the last of the great vets of WWII kicks the bucket? Fathers, grandfathers and great grandfathers. I hope there will be more giving their best then, than are now. I am ashamed of the lack of attention given by the current generation and even the previous generation. Being ashamed does not even come close to explaining how I feel. This lack of thought is utterly horrid. Such a passing of an era will never happen again. Ever. If it is ever this quiet when the last of the WWII combat vets pass I will... I honestly don't know what I will do. Such a thought stuns me. And don't tell me people forget. Not everyone has forgotten what our forefathers did for the American Revolution.
  7. Doesn't matter what I think. We should now have the talent (inexperienced as it is) to go 7-9, perhaps 8-8. and if i'm lucky 9-7) But bottom line is we'll be improving no matter which record we get. We have young talented players that will be getting xp. If Fitzy goes down early then we have a good chance for a high pick, perhaps #1. If that is so, then so be it. But I do not want our team giving up no matter what and sacrificing the aspects it takes to win. I have this stupid unexplainable bad feeling about Matt Barkley (I know nothing so far about Landry). For now in my mind it's either go for Luck or wait til the year after. In any case, don't reach for a qb. If Luck is labeled a "system qb" after this coming college season, and if he slides then the better for us. Chan will know how best to coach him up. We should target the qb who has shown the most quality consistency in a tenure longer than one college season.
  8. Your memory is prolly better than mine. Thanks for the refresh Barbarian.
  9. This is a good question. I don't know how many were team captains at the top of my head. But from what I've read of their college careers most were leaders. Some defensive captains. In essence though leaders. Leadership is what makes the difference when the talent is there. Good point tho ICanSleepWhenI'mDead. And I agree with you on your avatar name. Thanks gentlemen, I'm glad I'm not alone in realizing all this. I could be wrong with how a team should be built. I never thought Nix, Whaley and Gailey had the same ideas of how to build. I think i'm one lucky bastard seeing this envisioned. Doesn't mean I'm right though. I think our time is due though. And due big time. And if done right, due in a long successful consistent fashion. I want our team to be built for long sustained success, and so far I see this happening. I hope Ralph cooperates. So far the rest of the FO seems to be inclined to.
  10. There is somewhat of a constant that I've noticed in the past two drafts. Toughness and self motivation. But there is also a constant that jumps right out at us. Almost every player we've drafted last year and this year oozes leadership skills. Not only do they have this great quality but also humility follows them. But back to leadership. I've tried to think of past drafts of other teams for the past 10+ years that have exhibited this quality in such a consistent fashion. But I can't find it. Maybe I'm a bit dense but I don't see it to the degree that we have it here now. We are building a talented team of leaders. This will be a group that will stick together thru thick and thin no matter what the obstacles. These leaders of men (which they have proven with their college teammates) will continue their tradition of leading in the pros. I honestly don't know if I've ever seen so many leaders on one team at one time. And it's only been two drafts under the full direction of Nix. This is what I believe. These players are going to turn into one extremely focused group under Chan's tutelage. A searing focus is what I envision. Leadership + talent + toughness + desire + loyalty. These are the qualities that would make up my dream team. These also are the qualities that I happen to see forming in our Bills. Nix, Whaley, and Gailey have now officially matched and perhaps exceeded my expectations as it comes to the qualities in players pursued. Only time will tell if this pans out. But in my mind they are going after the most desireable qualities. With this group of guys (and more to come in time), with their character, I don't think a surplus of leadership will be an issue.
  11. Ocho used to be good. Perhaps he can squeeze out another 1 or 2 good years but at what expense? We have young men who show promise and they could be the team's future. We need to find out what these youngsters are capable of and not try and rely on aging codgers. We are building for the future people and not holding onto past triumphs.
  12. I would luv to have Zack Miller or Boss but I'm not entirely convinced that a typical TE is essential to Chan's offense. At the very least we should get a good blocking TE. A Metz type. If the FO doesn't go hard for a quality semi-young TE in FA then I'll be more convinced of my suspicions.
  13. Just a matter of time until a name is influenced by net terminology. I also wouldn't be surprised to see a "Meh" in the future. Looking forward to tomorrow. Getting into the races for the first time
  14. Isn't Mark Pike the only player to be in six SB's? Or is it Mike Lodish? Pike I'm thinking. 4 with us and 2 with Denver. A bit buzzed maybe I have this wrong.
  15. All these cute teachers and non-teachers being caught makes me wonder how many aren't? How many teen guys out there keep their traps shut and enjoy the dream? Probably more than we'll ever know. When I was in HS we had this amazingly gorgeous temp who was about 23. By 2nd period the whole school knew about her. Guys were acting stupid silly in her class cause well they were immature. If she wanted she could've had any guy. I doubt most could keep her a secret for long tho.
  16. Happy Birthday Fez. The Minnesota orchestra seems like it would be pretty cool. Have fun!
  17. The last combat vet of the war to end all wars. Very sad to see the last one go. Imagine the changes in the world this vet has seen. Out of millions he was the very last one left. I hope Mr. Choules is resting in peace now.
  18. Same here. I'm very excited to see how Jasper progresses with good coaching. If he ends up becoming a success then it would be cool to see a movie made of him sort of like the Blind Side with Michael Oher. He probably didn't have a rough life growing up like Oher had but still would be cool to have a movie made. Of course he has to prove himself first. Hmm... perhaps... The Big Shadow Geez I'm really rooting for this guy.
  19. What a relief! Where is Red? Red, this is what you've been waiting for for so long and you're not here? This is your big day. Wow what a solid 7 days it's been. We have a great draft, osama bites the dust, modrak gets canned. What's next? We find out Jasper has an identical twin brother who's even more of a secret than he was and wants to join us as an UDFA? Seems like Nix definitely has Ralph's trust now. Way to go Buddy and Whaley. Keep on cleaning house. There's much more to do. Go Bills!!
  20. So glad we got the bastard!! Thank you to all in the service and who have served.
  21. I hope Jasper turns into an immovable object like this. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Devils_Tower_CROP.jpg Except with a tendency to move forward and eat people.
  22. It cannot be put more eloquently and to the point than how you stated it. I smell the realization in Bellyache and Rexy that the Bills won't be a cakewalk anymore. I can't wait for our new guys to gel with the rest of the team. Bills are going to be VERY exciting to watch!
  23. Great draft analysis Rockinon. I believe you are right, some of the gloom and doomers might be loosening up a bit. Overall I'm very excited about the new guys we got. For the most part they seem to be fairly bright, hard working, talented with leadership qualities, big and physical players. A new infusion of talent with character. The locker room is changing for the better.
