Playing the national anthem to honor a fallen soldier is very different (for some) than playing the national anthem to honor our country. I get that for you it is not. For others, they feel their reality of what this country is differs so much from the ideal that they respectfully kneel to call attention to it. Picture that and let it sink in for a minute.

I just walked into this and respect you as a poster, but you should really stop pretending it's a hypothetical argument. While you originally wrote it as one, you clearly do not mean it to be one. Or maybe you can help me understand your point, for me, taking a specific situation and turning it into a hypothetical usually means opening up the situation and generalizing it so as to explore the principles at work and that they apply in any situation. I guess your wording implies to me this isn't about the players anymore, just two different philosophies which could or would apply anywhere the national anthem is being played. Which would open it up to anyone. But that's not what you wanted. Ignoring intentions, I would say LeSean and any other players who ignore the moment and carry on quietly with something else are being intolerant of the national anthem by ignoring thus disrespecting it. That does not seem kind or generous, but somewhat tolerant by staying quiet while also intolerant at the same time. Has LeSean had to face any consequences for his actions other than people like JK calling him out about it? Has he been assaulted, lost his job or thrown in jail? Luckily for the alien, we don't live in a society that is rigidly divided into 2 groups.

Hughes made a great statement, except for questioning why Jimbo is out on the field. That is not his business, it was divisive, the rest is very acknowledging and respectful. All this should have been done behind closed doors. I think because Jim did not, it motivated Jerry to go public. I did not see the game. If LeSean was stretching while the anthem was playing that crosses my line for being disrespectful. I think the kneeling makes a statement but is respectful because they at least assume a still position and focus that respectfully acknowledges the anthem. Stretching, doing other things and ignoring the anthem, not respectful. Interesting to see what the NFL does moving forward. Last thing they ever want is to lose customers with things like this. Honestly, I feel they should fine LeSean for the stretching.

Thanks for doing all this work OP, excellent analysis. Given the experience and past of this O-line, it makes me think they haven't fully mastered Dennison's terminology/offense yet. Mistakes, mis-communication, and aren't adjusting fast enough yet. Problem is, I think this is when O-linemen are most likely to get hurt as people are out of position making them vulnerable. Definitely got my fingers crossed things improve quickly.

Certainly receivers approach the game this way. In reality, when your body momentum is carrying you hard the opposite way of the ball and you only have a second or so to adjust? IMO very few, if any, receivers could have made that catch. In this instance, I equate it to trying to say every right handed NFL quarterback running hard left should be able to zip in a 20 yard pass back to their right.

Wow, so much commentary. Read through some, but not all so please forgive if this was covered. This is what I saw from the clip: Zay did a nice job with the inside fake but got too worried about the inside safety and broke off his pattern to the flag instead of continuing an outside shoulder fade to back corner of EZ like he should have run. His slowing and slight stumble was him thinking too much IMO. TT didn't make the best throw but we don't know if he was trying to adjust it at the last split second. Even so, if Zay was running the fade he's in a far better position and makes that grab. It's a shame TT couldn't last-second adjust his throw more to get him the ball but when has he ever been able to? This one's on Zay, with an acknowledgement of TT's limitations as a QB.

I think if you're flexible and willing to move/leave if there's too much BS going on around you it'll be fine. My son was 6 when I brought him and my 9 year old daughter. They understood there would be bad language and probably some people acting silly but it was great! That was 5 years ago and we've always had an excellent time. Why will he be susceptible to all these things moving forward? My daughter had a concussion (playing in the street, slipped on gravel for a header off the concrete) and it took her about 3 months to recover fully. She's been perfectly normal for 2 years now with no reappearance of anything like this. I have a long time friend who's had multiple concussions over 20 years and recovered from all them. Beyond being a mush-head, she exhibits none of these symptoms and hasn't had any long term issues like this. I ask them both regularly beyond the time I spend with them.

Does it address the tens of millions of college football athletes out there not suffering CTE symptoms? According to the CTE website, over 425 brains have been donated, 270 have CTE. https://www.bu.edu/cte/brain-donation-registry/ Only over 100 were presented from football players in this study. Does the research address that? Medical standard of care for concussion assumes that highest risk of permanent damage is when more head trauma occurs while a person is recovering from a concussion. Does the research address this? What the research does is diagnose CTE in over 100 brains donated by football players. Most were likely donated because the person suffered behavioral/neurological deficits consistent with CTE. That is a highly biased, highly limited sample. Is there a big problem here? Absolutely. Does this mean I am smarter than the scientists who did the research? Nope, just trying to realistically frame and understand it. Does this mean there are "staggering odds" my son will have CTE from playing high school football? Nope. But go ahead and question other's intelligence. I am certainly questioning yours.

Keep it simple. That's what I had to do, static line jump. You have a chute opening line clipped to the plane. Once you get out there and let go the chute starts to deploy immediately

I did a static line jump just over 20 years ago. No attached instructor, only 3-4000 feet up, chute starts to open as soon as you let go of the plane. There wasn't any real free-fall so I was disappointed in that. The most stressful part was struggling to gain altitude with 6 people packed in a Cessna. I enjoyed floating down in BFE, Ohio but it wasn't worth it. Would do the free fall w/ instructor if I decided to again. Bungee jumping was far more fun and exciting, IMO.

I'm sorry you're not co-parenting, so glad my ex didn't put up a fight over that. It would have gotten ugly and she would have lost. My neighbor was in a similar situation as yours. He made the same choices you did. It is your choice not to fight for your time. Now my neighbor's daughter is a mess, flunked out of school and doesn't talk to either parent. As much as he loves his daughter he never fought enough for their relationship and was so consumed with his ex it indirectly poisoned his relationship with his daughter. Fight for your relationship with your daughter and be the bad guy. But open your heart to her and explain why without getting negative about her mom. Never do that as you are really insulting your daughter at the same time. Get your daughter a cell phone if she hasn't one and work out an arrangement between her and yourself. Take the high road, but take your ex to court every time over your visitation rights. Send everyone a message, especially your daughter. What you see as being considerate towards your daughter's time with friends/activities, your daughter can see as you not wanting to spend time with her. And from the sound of things, mom will directly put that idea in her head. Be consistent and as others have said make plans in advance for just you and her. What truly matters here? Your daughter is not stupid. She can feel the hostilities between her parents. And it tears her up and breaks her heart. Let it go. Be the rock for your daughter. See your ex for the coward she truly is and don't hate her. Realize you chose her and made a bad choice. Be happy you're not stuck in that situation anymore and stop letting your ex matter so much to you. Instead of doing the decent thing and ending things directly with you she chose the cowardly way. Regardless of everything else, at her very core that is who she is. Now she is boomeranging her self hate on to you every chance she gets. You will never see any satisfaction for the way she treated and is treating you now. Your only satisfaction will be to let it go and stand tall even when you've got nothing to stand on. Stand tall. Focus on your relationship with your daughter.

It's not wrong, EXCEPT in front of the kids. But, is that who you are, a hateful person? Do you feel good about letting her continue to control who you are? At some point it's emotional poison. Best point post-divorce was fully knowing I was far better off without her and letting all that stuff go. I take full accounting for my mistakes and stopped obsessing about hers. I do retain a healthy disrespect/despisal for her in certain things but get along very well with her.

In all fairness DW decided to learn the ropes from Buddy Nix, who had never been a GM before rejoining the Bills. If he wants another shot at GM, I agree with ya. I do believe that handing the reins to McDermott was symptomatic of DW's shortcomings as a leader so hopefully DW finds his best path. I did like the guy and believe he can be successful as a GM.
