  1. I agree ... give him McCargo's corner of the locker room ... this is one of those picks we all hope pans out because this kid appears to be one of those 'movie-of-the-week' stories. Definitely worth the gamble by the Bills after he followed through to get in shape. He is huge and apparently very athletic now let's see how that translates out on the NFL field.
  2. Would rather have other options but I agree he'd be an upgrade over what we had.
  3. You are right on ... well actually, no you are totally off base where do you come up with stuff like this? Actually on second thought ... great post!
  4. Thanks for the link! Definitely worth more than the new Jacksonville MLB ... so if we can get him for less we are ahead of the game. Sounds like the BOLTS will also be in this race but with Buddy and Merriman's SD connections we just might get this done.
  5. Once again right on Promo! If anyone out there thought that Nix would give insight to the GR sports guys ... most of the GR staff doesn't even follow pro football (I was in Buffalo yesterday and sadly tuned into the sclop and bull show on GR as I drove out of town ... turned it off when they got all excited about listing the former hosts of ESPN's Sports Center.). POZ was an adequate linebacker who is enjoying an unbelievable and undeserved incredble pay day. But, Poz seems like a decent guy so congrats to him but the Bills aren't losing anything by him playing for the Jag's. This board is so loaded with individuals just waiting to complain about any and everything. We are into YEAR #2 of Buddy and Chan. I feel better about this team than I have in more than 10 years because finally we seem to have a duo who know what they are doing. They did not make the draft choices from 1999 through 2009 so don't point your fingers at them. Our 2010 draft produced some real potential and I am excited aout this year's draft. Buddy is a 'good ole boy' who knows how do dance around the guys on radio ... so let's just watch out this team pans out!
  6. The POZ is gone ... Nix would have been insane to give him $7 million and Poz because POZ is just not that good. Even Poz's agent basically admitted that Poz does not do well in the 3-4 (Not that he did anything special in the 4-3). We have lost an inside linebacker who could never cover a tight end, running back, or wide receiver on a pass route over the middle in Poz's coverage area. My memories are of him trying to chase down guys who made the catch in places where Poz should have had tight coverage. We have lost an inside linebacker who never had an impact at the line of scrimmage or behind it. He never engaged offensive linemen aggressively and never ever could penetrate the line. We have lost an inside linebacker who was able to post a decent number of tackles because he chased down or pulled down running backs after they have run past him. We have lost an inside linebacker who was a good Buffalo backer. Poz from day one was a good team player. He was positive about Western New York and then when he had a chance to stay perhaps giving the Bills a couple of days to think about matching Jacksonville's offer refused to do so and ran with the money. We have lost an inside linebacker who makes female fans swoon (Because of his hair??) and all too many guys have man crushes because of the Polish last name. I am with Nix in his opnion that we will be just fine in the middle and that nothing special has been lost at this point.
  7. kelsayKELSAYplaysKELSAY STAYS and is in on pass situations It really is unbelievable how much hate there is for Kelsay. He is a solid rotational DE who was forced into an OLB last year. Are you just upset that he makes more money then he deserves? Believe me, he is not going anywhere. Check out Chris Brown's piece today where Giff Smith, talking about the upcoming season, says “You look at the nickel situation with presumably those two rushing on the inside and then you’ve got (Shawne) Merriman and (Chris) Kelsay outside,” said Smith. “I think it’s going to enable us to get some pressure with just a four man rush where we don’t have to bring a fifth or sixth guy.” http://www.buffalobills.com/news/article-1/Headaches-for-opposing-offenses/d0307409-b7b9-4702-b8eb-a455b6440570
  8. All too often this board choooses to attack the character of players in cold cruel ways, guess our society has a substantial segment that celebrates bullying, but the truth is players like Maybin either don't have the talent or other circumstances prevent them from being superstar pro-bowlers, stars, or even just above average starters. The hateful statements made towards players like Maybin, Kelsay, Whitner, Wrotto, and others just verifies that the authors are limited in their ability to provide constructive criticism. I have been critical of the Maybin pick since Day One and frankly do not think he has the ability to play in the NFL. But, he did spend his first off season working out and attempting to get into playing shape. Sadly, he lost his son, which is something that any of us who have been blessed with children cannot comprehend the impact unless we have experienced it. He has one last chance ... we have a great defensive minded coach now and if he can't do anything with Maybin no one can but that doesn't mean Maybin is loafing ... he just is incapable of playing at this level.
  9. China I am in Atlantic County so now we need to find a few more Bills' fans at the Shore ... I am in Smithville right off the Parkway. ATTENTION South Jersey Bills' fans ... or Philly Bills' fans, do you want to join in with us?
  10. Since Day One he has been able to keep a strong personal fan base. He always seems upbeat about the team and the city. Since Day One on the field unfortunately he has been injury prone. He has never been able to cover a running back nor a tight end in pass coverage. He is never at the point of attack to stop running backs as they come off their blocks. He has always been able to chase running backs down after they pass him so his tackle totals have been high. He is not aggressive on the field nor does he use his strength (he certainly appears to be strong) to be the LB causing fumbles. Since he is always running after receivers (RB's and TE's) he is responsible for in pass coverage he never will make an interception. He has good speed (obvious from chasing down those running backs who have passed him by). He is a Penn State alum so all the Penn State fans can say here's another LB from Paterno's factory with a long NFL career. In a 3-4 you need a supply of decent LB's and Poz definitely meets that definition. So, the question ... will I miss him if the Giants grab him ... no, I won't. Will the team be worse if we end up starting our two rookies in the beginning we will be but both these guys we have picked appear aggressive and hungry to win. Do I think he will excell in Fewell's defense here in New Jersey? No, in fact I think he will do a lot worse in NY where the fans will rip him apart rather than in Buffalo where his personality (and his last name) have given him enough fans that he will never be on a list similar to Whitner ... so if Poz is smart, he'll take the Bills money and stay where he is comfy ... delaying the inevitable movement of the new guys into the middle.
  11. Thanks for the info ... so our only choice is to pay over $100 for Chinese sweat shop made jersey's licensed by the NFL or pay 1/4 the price for 'immitation' jerseys made by the same Chinese sweat shops with no financial benefit to the Jerrry Jones of the world? ... mmmmm let me see should I reward Jerry Jones' financial debt? Should I help the poor Hunt family out in Kansas City? I know they would not be ripping us off by charging all that extra money ... perhaps it goes to support the poor and needy in their communities or to reduce the price of tickets or maybe even to offer a free suite for each game in the season to their local ARC or other group that helps adults with disabilities ... or do I spend less for the same quality .... Questions questions ... how much of my hard earned money should be going into the bank accounts of the wealthy owners. At least Bills games are at least 1/2 as expensive as the games near me here in NJ ... GIANT/EAGLES/JETS games cost me at least double what it costs me to go home to Buffalo for a Bills game ... I will let all of you guess where my new Bills jersey will be coming from (my only UGLY Bills' jersey from the last decade, a Moulds jersey was purchased from the NFL and after a few washings the number started to fade ... just an additional hint in case you needed one) .... Anyone in NJ want to go in on a bulk purchase??
  12. There were times when products sold by American companies were made in America by Americans who were paid a fair wage with benefits that allowed them to support their families even on a limited basis. There were times when workers and the middle class and working class were valued more in national discussions rather than our leaders doing everything they can to protect those making $250,000 and more when most of us are seeing our incomes spiral downwards. There were times when here in America we had health insurance companies that cared about our health rather than the bottom line that accountants have established after which the answer is just no (mmm sounds like one of our political parties philosophies on anything that helps anyone but the powerful). So, the products sold by the NFL's official partner who has paid millions to the millionaire/billionaire owners are made by 'slave labor' in China or other parts of the world and we should send our hard earned monies to these multi-national corporations so that they can continue the growth of their wealth while not providing health insurance, pensions, and liveable wages to Americans? Or, do we send our hard earned monies to companies that for the same product charge up to 75% less while having these shirts, etc. made by the same 'slave labor?' The real answer is breaking up the corporate giants, returning the jobs to America, and somehow get back to a world where the CEO's made only 25 to 30 percent of their workers salaries and that their pay increases mirrored those of their workers. I need some coffee this has taken me into a headache of a discussion of the greased slope downward of our nation's political realities where too many people who are getting hurt are jumping on the talk radio bandwagon even though that message will so us more harm .... all on my sports 'read' of the morning, I better go over to SABRESPACE and just read about sports. After my political rant of the morning .... if there are any Bills' fans in the Atlantic City area, South/Central Jersey or Philadelphia who would like to go in on a purchase let me know (not that I would ever buy a non-licensed product that didn't reward the Jerry Jones of this world with more money).
  13. It's Friday ... it's been a long week ... and now we are getting third hand news that makes absoulutely no sense whatsoever although Denver's defense sucked last year. Tebow is apparently number two in Denver but Fox admits he has not seen any of his working out. Tebow has been leading the offensive players in practice at a local high school. And, Elway seems to like him. Not sure how well Champ Bailey is playing these days at CB.
  14. I think the court probably has been delaying and delaying but we had heard imminent settlement (according to a certain 'twitter' report that people on this board bought into) by the end of June. If anything this shows the weakness of the players position since they are no longer a "labor organization" not that I am a fan of the owners either. Both sides just want to stick it to the fans while also penalizing former players whose bodies and minds still pay the price of their time on the field. One reason to celebrate an owners' win though is a rookie salary cap, which is long overdue and which means no hold-outs this summer.
  15. Love the work ethic!! Reminds me of Phil Hansen.
  16. I am happy with our FB situation and wouldn't waste any money on bringing in a FA but Thomas is worth pursuing! We need ilb more than another average olb. As for RT, if we don't pay through the nose he'd be worth having in the mix but I think the coaching staff was pleased with what they saw of Pears last year (frankly, I didn't see any problems on the right side once he stepped in that an off season learning the offense won't resolve) and Hairston looks like he will be able to step in too!
  17. To me everything that Stevie has been saying and tweeting was proven true when the new uniforms were unveiled. What other player would buy a ticket to get into the stadium to celebrate a new uniform other than a player that loves his team and the city he plays in? Of course, wouldn 't it have made an incredible statement if half the team had showed up .... Stevie is generating a buzz for the Bills ... his TWEETS show that he is a quality young man especially when he talks about his wife and family.
  18. I definitely agree ... tight end is our weakest position but I am still worried about our inside linebackers. I am so tired of watching POZ chasing runners from behind and unable to provide any type of pass protection. Maybe, just maybe one of the picks will make a difference there ... but they do take time to develop. I'd place RT behind the ILB as a point of weakness ... Pears actually might be the answer, just haven't seen enough of him but he didn't look bad last year.
  19. And, so Stevie dropped it ... look at his entire season and what you will see is the beginniing of a great career. He is not afraid to talk about the drop ... My link on national television. The other thing he is not afraid to talk about is his love of Buffalo and the Buffalo Bills. It was classic Stevie Johnson that he bought a ticket to come to the uniform unveiling; he is the type of player I want on this team and all you nay sayers should celebrate this guy's upbeat positive attitude! He makes me proud to be a Bills' fan!!
  20. Woke up on the wrong side of the bed did you? Yes, those awful uniforms matched this dreadful decade but the one consistent even in his off seasons has been Moorman! He not only demonstrates ability on the field but exemplifies how millionaires should contribute to the communities where they live. The good news is that with the improvements with the team we will be seeing him less and less on the field, which should improve his game (His punt numbers per game for the decade have to be near the top of the list and yet he is not worn down.). Finally, last year we didn't bring in any punter in camp to both give him a break and to create a little competition. This year an added young punter in camp could clarify for everyone how good we have it!
  21. The people in charge really do seem to like Pears and frankly we haven't seen enough of him to make the decision this board enjoys making that he is a cast-off that sucks. The Labor situation has really messed with Hairston who has an awful lot of upside but as a rookie needs time to understand the pro system before really showing his potential. Not sure what's up with Wang but if he has recovered and done some off-season work then it is possible that the Bills don't invest their free agent $$$ on a RT. I think that Clabo's price will be inflated and beyond what the Bills would pay with the rest of the cast-offs not giving me a better feeling than what we have. Getting an OL to work really does involve chemisty and time. Bell keeps getting better with time and recovery from his injuries, Levitre has improved as he has learned the game, Wood's amazing recovery from 'that injury' has shown the benefits of time too, and the question that is left has to do with Pears/Hairston and C/RG.
  22. The good news is that Russ is making himself available for non-canned media moments and the bad news is that there are so many Sullivanesque alleged fans out there who don't want to accept anything from OBD as reality because it messes up their nightmares! There seems to be positive news related to the sale of luxury boxes from Rochester and Southern Ontario. In addition, he seemed truly enthusiastic about the Buddy/Chan show with the added future possibilities with Doug Whaley. There was talk about the entire scouting department (Ok, no Modrak apologies but from what he said it is clear that there was an understanding that we have been doing things wrong. (DUH!)). While not talking about Ralph's plans he stated he personally expects to be here with the team for another 15-20 years while stressing he is a local guy. Plus he talked about the uniforms! haha
