  1. The list is out and here they are: WR Kamar Aiken QB Levi Brown TE Mike Caussin DE Lionel Dotson NT Michael Jasper DB Joshua Nesbitt C Michael Switzer I am somewhat surprised to see Levi still hanging around and disappointed that Namaan's name wasn't on the list. We shall see what happens as rosters are shuffled and adjusted.
  2. It is time to retire both of those numbers and 15 in honor of the only quarterback who led us to two championships! Having four numbers retired is reasonable and a tribute to Thurman, BRUUUUUUUUUUUUCE, and Jack! As for 83 ... I saw it as a slap in Evans' face because of the poor value we received in the trade for him but in no way was this a slap at Andre!
  3. I understand that Gary Marangi is available ... we could slot him in as our future at quarterback ... Seriously, I think one of the back-up linebackers might be sitting on the bubble like Moats or a wide receiver like Martin. We are too thin at CB to even think about cutting Rogers plus I think he has a tremendous upside now that he's healthy (I thought he was one of our draft steals based on his college play.). Obviously, if there is someone out there who will improve the team the player cut will be one of the back-ups at the position he plays. Now ... on to Kansas City! GO BILLS!
  4. Yea, I am going to talk to the guy who hangs out in the produce department he told me to be ready that Terrence McGee was definitely going to be cut early on Saturday morning ... he has been talking to his top secret friends including a guy named P _ _ M _ _ _ _ (I am not allowed to disclose the full name to protect his excellent sources.). If I remember right there are always 10 to 20 blockbuster trades just as teams break camp and head into Week One to insure that they have players who do not know the playbook and have never played with their teammates. I will let the board know if my South Jersey expert has any hush hush insider information from the people he has seen in a crowd ... until then. GO BILLS
  5. I have to go with Coleman ... I was pretty sure Moats was going but the Namaan cut I think had more to do with his injury and inability to play right now. Definitely hope he sneaks in under the radar to the Bills PS and when he's healed that he has a shot at coming back. It's funny but even the Coleman cut wasn't a "shock" but more of a surprise. Since those experts with inside sources had predicated McGee I was sort of ready to be shocked ... Now, let's see if the first teamers can really play and stay healthy! GO BILLS
  6. I was going to say ... where are the sources behind the McGee is definitel getting cut at now? This board has been screaming about Corner for more than a year ... but now we are thin at corner? Hang is a smart player but he was constantly shoved right back to the quarterback by nose tackles. It's pretty clear that Gailey didn't feel he was what the team needed so he releases a veteran who did not produce in this systerm to allow for some young players to play. Are we thin on the line for back-ups ... sure but I am guessing at least half the league has problems with their O-Line including some contenders.
  7. The Eagles have major offensive line problems and deep pockets so the fact that Jean-Gilles didn't make their roster is a reflection that he is another one of those linemen who have seen their better days. There is absolutely no benefit in bringing him in.
  8. and guess who was doing the blocking on Detroit's 1st team guys? ... Bell, Levitre, Wood, Urbik, and Pear. The starting O-Line is looking like they are coming together and I really like Hairston's mean streak and blocking ability so he will be pushing both Bell and Pear. Of course, not sure about the rest of the reserves so the waiver wire may give us someone who will better serve the team if injuries hit.
  9. We don't need another linebacker ... I like our starting group and their back-ups ... let's keep our eyes open for a back-up QB, a offensive lineman ...
  10. The truly amazing thing is that while Mr. Singularly Focused Binocular Man fixated on Troup, the first team defense did a good job with the exception of the one pass completion of holding Detroit in check. Is it possible ... could it be within the realm of the role of a NT that Troup's play in the middle allowed the rest of the D to be effective? Again, NT's don't always get the stat's but they fill a special role in taking up blockers and filling up the middle of the line. Troup seems to have had at least a few plays where he did some things according to others who were watching the entire game rather than just eye-balling one guy at the start of the game. I know when I go to the game I am trying to watch all of the action and perhaps focus in on individual players for one play but then watch how the entire team is doing. But, I guess some are looking to find anything that is usable in the 'toss em to the wolves' discussions here.
  11. I didn't see the game but when reading the first media reports of who played well for the Bills in the game guess whose name was there? Troup's! Now, unlike many who post here I do not keep track of each person's opinions but there have been a few Troup detractors from Day One and perhaps that has been your chosen role. In this thread there is a report from someone who also watched the game and reflects that Troup held his own against double teams and that he did a good job filling up the middle of the line. NT's are not statistic creators but a key role is to take on more than one lineman so that at least one of their teammates is unblocked. Troup came into camp in super shape before suffering his hand injury. I am going to rely on all of the media reports rather than a headliner here who chooses to say that Troup is horrible. Of course we will all know what the coaches have to say in 48 hours.
  12. I refuse to use a rookie year comparison to be the evaluating tool. The Bills have Fred Jackson who would start on at least 2/3's of NFL teams and Spiller's foolish hold out limited his ability to really grasp the NFL and the Bills' offense plus he has Jackon ahead of him. Over time it is a no-brainer Spiller has much more talent and will have a better career than the concussion prone midget.
  13. His potential was there before the hit ... statistics don't rule the day it's really about wins and losses so the argument that he wasn't lighting up the skies should be secondary to the victories he led the team too. The guy was young but leading the team and then he crashed to earth. Sadly after that game he became fearful apparently of being on the field ... Once again, we tend to personalize players who fail. There's no doubt that he wanted to succeed but he no longer has what it takes. Wish him well ... it's time to move forward! GO BILLS!
  14. Guess this proves two things to the collective group of naysayers ... #1 - Roscoe is not going to be one of the surprise cuts of 2011 and #2 - As already stated in this thread ... the Lee Evans trade (yes, we should have received more back from the Ravens then a lousy 4th rounder) was not about saving Ralph some cash. Although we may never know whether it was Lee asking for a trade, Gailey's not being happy with his lack of interest in over the middle plays, the over abundance of talent (hopefully) at wideout or something else.
  15. And, I had somehow missed that Tampa had picked him up ...
  16. I remember when Jason Peters said the Bills' contract offer wasn't enough to feed his family ... these poor poor millionaire athletes who get paid obscene amounts of money for playing a kids' game. Of course, we pay to see them play so who is the biggest fool?
  17. Not on my NFL Network broadcast (shown yesterday afternoon) ... they cut out halftime and a segment of the third quarter in order to get the game in at 3 hours.
  18. I feel Thigpen's performance this preseason has been below expectations. In fact, in another thread I have him listed as a surprise cut if we are able to find another quality back-up cut during the next week. Like Trent Edwards it is his decision making process that has me questionning whether we could do better in finding a back up to Fitz. And, yes his passes are off but the fact that he has played in a Gailey system before should mitigate those arguments that say he hasn't had enough time to learn the playbook. However, I do fully understand that he has not played with the one's and he arrived here knowing that he had no chance of being named the starter unless Fitz got hurt. Those are two realities that can negatively impact performance. He is better than Levi and Smith is not going to be our #2 quaterback so ... unless someone gets cut who is decent our back-up for the season with be Thigpen and we better hope Fitz stays healthy!
  19. It has been quietly discussed for awhile now ... what a truly class act Jack Del Rio is ... on the sidelines he is all about passion and winning but now we know in life he is the same way. Allen's name is on my little church's prayer list here in New Jersey even though no one knows who Allen Wilson is and I hope that each of you make sure your church members are praying for him too.
  20. FYI ..... John McCargo's employment relationship with the Buffalo Bills football club ended this Spring ... it also marked the end of his long National Football League career where thanks to Aaron Maybin he will not be remembered as the worst first round pick in Bills' history.
  21. The name is vaguely familiar ... like something from a bad dream ... otherwise it doesn't matter ...
  22. GREAT POST .... I am with you on this list although not as big of a Heard fan but I paid close attention to the right side of our line during the Jacksonville game and Pears continues to look good but Urbik has apparently picked up his game some too. I am not a Kelsay hater although I don't think he can cover pass routes but Carrington looks as great as I thought he would coming out of college ... he would not be a surprise started on Sept. 11th. Andra Davis has been a pleasant surprise to me. Perhaps we didn't see enough of him last year but I like what he has shown. Frankly, I like what I have seen of Terrence McGee this summer too ... a lot of people are ready to jettison him but he has game left. Now, our draft picks all have tremendous upsides ... can't wait to see them make the line up and have been impressed with most of them.
  23. My surprise pick would be MOATS because it is clear that the coaches either lost some confidence in him or maybe never really had it. The addition of Morrison as an ILB who looks like he is going to stay really puts MOATS on the hot seat. I think if 50% of a draft ends up being productive players for a team it is a really successful draft. So, even if Brown (not a surprise cut), Wang (not sure if he is going quite yet), and Moats get cut in addition to Calloway last year's draft was still a very good one. All too often only 1 or 2 players last so I will take 5! After watching the Jacksonville game another surprise cut would be THIGPIN. Of course this would depend on other quarterback cuts around the league because Brown is not the answer and Smith is not going to be set up as our number two.
  24. I am with you .... but I will jump on the FRED JACKSON bandwagon ... he has heart and he can play with the best of them. I hope he ends up on my Fantasty team!
  25. Can't see us getting a chance at the Lombardi Trophy and I am one of those optimists. Actually, I don't think anyone who posts here is dreaming that dream quite yet. However the optimists in the room do see a team that is taking the right steps. Nix has worked hard to fix our biggest problem of last year, which was the run defense. Gailey is going to continue to work on an offense that produced almost 20 points a game last year even though Trent was the starter for four games. There are great opportunities if this team takes on a cocky winning attitude and some of the great "dream teams" have major holes in their line-ups. I can't wait for the season to start and I know one thing... we won't be competing for Mr. Luck this season!
