  1. Not sure where the questions about Shep are coming from ... the coaching staff has clearly stated he is our starting MLB. His play last season earned it ... and after a rookie year only more is possible. Moats is an unknown ... don't think he has the right size for a DE but he may not fit in a 4-3 either.
  2. If the if's prove true ... Merriman would be a beast with Williams, Mario, and Dareus ... I agree that Kelsay will do a good job if he is starting for us but IF the surgery was a success and IF he can get himself into shape ... then the other starting seven on our defense are going to have career years because of the guys up front. Our other Williams at CB worked through his rookie kinks and should be a great CB plus a pass rush should return Byrd back to his rookie activity ... wow, someone pinch me I am starting to dream .. hahaha
  3. My brother and I will be up in Buffalo next week to stop by the stadium to take a look where we are buying for this season (He's from Va and I am in NJ.). This could be 'that' break out year!
  4. The possibilities for an amazing defensive season are endless ... we have a coach with the smarts, we have 3 amazing talents on the DL in Williams, Williams, and Dareus plus when Kelsay puts his hand down he is an above average DE for containing the run and getting to the QB (No, he should not have been playing LB but when you watch the games when he is at DE Kelsay always is doing what he is supposed to be doing (I'll never figure out the naysayers.).).
  5. We have two good guards ... Steinbach is old and his day has past us. If no one signs him then perhaps he can come as a back-up but that is not likely.
  6. I am with you ... I am proud of Buffalo even though I have been away all too long but it's home! One of the things that drives me nuts about Schlep and Bull is their distaste for anything and everything Buffalo ... so, I just don't listen. But this is also why I really love Stevie ... he doesn't have to love Buffalo but he does. So many Sabres and former Sabres live in Buffalo for all the good things we know about it. But, I will say that the Bills/Sabres give us a unifer that is good for all of us who are living around the globe ... sports teams become an extension of the community. So when the Sabres were playing blue collar hockey it was like a bunch of South Buffalo boys were out on the ice.
  7. As a BIG TIME critic of Gr ... I will admit that their coverage (with the exception of certain hosts) has given me everything I needed in the Mario Hunt. To expand local coverage gives those of us away from Buffalo what we needed. So ... I will put on sack cloth for the moment while waiting to hear what list might be talked about this afternoon.
  8. The Texans ownership is saying that they want to keep him at all costs.
  9. They are going back to when we were in the coach hunt ... Schottenheimer ... they are whining away about how awful a place Buffalo is for pro players. The transcript of this show needs to be sent to Bills' management and to GR management.
  10. Incredible ... this is just a sad reflection of the afternoon team. They are saying we can't convince first rate free agents to come to Buffalo ... sad, sad, sad I tuned in on the internet to hear the excitement at the signing but Hugh Douglas on ESPN had more to say about it then these idiots!
  11. The GR boys SCHLEP and BULL are still whining that the Bills are not going to be aggressive in free agency. They are complaining about not signing Schotty ... they both admitted that neither one pays attention to free agency choices for the Bills. What a waste ... it is time for all of my Buffalo friends to boycott their advertisers!
  12. I totally agree ... Mario Williams would not have any impact on Fred Jackson. Not to be greedy but I'd like both in Bills' uniforms ... we will know in about 8 minutes.
  13. Thanks ... I never ever think about tuning in to GR because of SCHLEP and Bull .. but if there is Bills talk from those in the know it is worth tuning in until the GR hosts turn my stomach ...
  14. Thanks for the link ... I continue to be glad that Stevie is a Bill and a Buffalo backer! He is quickly becoming a media favorite and isn't it great to have someone like him representing our team and city? And, maybe just maybe the NFL will wake up to the fact that some players want to have fun playing the game and that celebrating success in a way fans can relate to is good for the league. We don't want to watch robots out there ... to me the right way of playing is to have fun, show emotion and yes at the end of the game shake hands!
  15. Tannehill has way too much downside for us to waste our #10 on him. I agree that some desperate team will pick him before he should be picked just because there really are only two serious QB's in this draft and they will be long gone before the Bills select. The only QB's to draft in the first round are those who are the 'sure things' and even a healthy Tannehill has a few too many questions and lack of college experience. Now, if he is still there when we pick in the second or third round ....
  16. Someone obviously read one of the first critiques of the post because Stevie is no longer one of the three the author is writing about (He now lists Vincent Jackson, Marques Colston and Mario Manningham.) but they still have Stevie's pic there. It's good to know that "reporters" in other markets value Stevie just like we do.
  17. Agreed! Freddie is the 'heart and soul' of the offense in addition to being our main weapon. Nix has already promised to get the extension done and that should be done before training camp. In my mind Levitre should be next both because of his non-stop improvement as a pro but also for his ability to play each line position. I think he is almost playing at a Pro-Bowl level now and might have made some post season lists if we didn't need him playing tackle and center this past season. The change in our D philosophy and coaching and if we add a pass rushing specialist will allow Byrd to get better. If we see the Bills getting extensions done before having to walk to the edge with the players they have developed it will be a sign that this is truly a new Bills' way of life!
  18. :wallbash: NO ... we need to continue to build a team without sacrificing draft picks just to move up one or two spots. The quality player we get at #10 will help the bills and as much as I like Blackmon, taking a wide out with the first pick especially when it also costs us another pick seems foolish. If we were sitting back with a pick in the late 20's or early 30's then trading our #1 and #3 might be worth a Blackmon but one of the Bills' errors during the first decade of the new millenium was to move up in the first round ... we need to stock pile picks like our 2011 draft and yes, even our 2010 draft. The draft is deep in wideouts ...
  19. I so agree with you One constant on this board is the influx of JetPatDolph fans because they certainly cannot be Bills' fans. There are certain individuals who clearly love to stomp on fan optimism and viciously attack any move by the team. There is no doubt that any of us who have been fans for more than 25 years are totally frustrated with the first decade of the new millenium! Angered, ticked off, but somehow still Bills' fans. And, the pre-injury start to the 2011 gave us reason to believe that the team was turning around (Even the most optimistic among us knew that we had no depth behind the starting 22 but we finally had a starting offensive line that was as good as or better than most teams in the league and we had a team that could come from behind to win.). Buddy Nix has stayed true to his public pronoucements ... he took over a bad team and has been building the base of a potentially good team for years to come. First as the head scout but then as GM ... his drafts have been as productive as any other team in the league (Oh, I know someone will name a couple of instant superstars that we passed over but so did 30+ other teams ...). So, if you are a Bills' fan stop bashing the optimists ... and take a deep breath because this Bills' team has players who want to stay in town and we will find out in the next few weeks if some bigger names will be home shopping in OP and Clarence.
  20. Please remember that WGR is the radio station that gives us Schelp and his foaming dog in the afternoon along with the morning crew that doesn't bother to watch the games. I never ever take any opinions from WGR radio as anything but extreme rumors. I really like Chandler and with our new TE coach I think big things are possible. Buddy is 'Getting It Done' and keeping his word. Can't wait to see how aggressive we are in the next few weeks!
  21. My brother who lives in Virginia had season tickets for a number of years. He donated his preseason tickets to charitable organizations and usually found someone for his tickets. We are planning on getting tickets together this year (I am in New Jersey) and we already know we won't get to all of the games but it's still worth supporting our team! Plus when they make the playoffs we will be there like we were back in the 90's!
  22. It is clear that you must have been on winter vacation because both Nix and Freddie have said that they expect a deal will be done sometime after the draft. Jackson seems to trust Nix on this and since he is signed through next season we do not have to make his extension a priority. All the naysayers who thought we'd let Stevie walk have been proven wrong and to whine about Freddie's not being signed immediately is just showing ignorance to the facts that we have been given from both sides of this issue. I want to see the aggressiveness when free agency opens up ... that is the team's next step to success.
  23. I can't believe I fell for this ... again ... again ... unbelievable! GOOD JOB on getting us!
  24. There are going to be changes if we want improvement. When Chan took the job he brought in guys that he felt he could work with. So, after two years it was clear to the world that Edwards had to go but if you look at how our wideout's frequently ran to positions two yards short of a first down and other errors that can be directed towards the coach. As for Cortez, that was clearly a promotion ... but we still will see other heads roll I am sure!
  25. Well your statement about Pears pretty much eliminates the need to read anything else that you have posted. If you look around the league there are few RT's or LT's that play with the solid conistency that Pears showed this year. But, the problem with the Bills' did not reside in the OL and if Wood had not been injured there's a chance we might have added another win or two. And over at LT ... Hairston showed great signs of being a better than average LT as a rookie, which is a very difficult achievement because OL take a few years to really develop. If Bell stayed healthy he also has proven that he is not the mediocre LT that too many on this board have claimed. This season the Bills' OL did all that was asked of them. They opened huge holes for both Freddie and CJ. They stopped sacks from happening and controlled league leaders on opposing DL's. There were some truly incredible highlight film plays by almost every member of the line this year especially Levitre and Wood. The Bills problem resided in a defensive coaching scheme that could not make adjustments and could not game-plan. When your defensive coordinator can't come up with anything effective it begins to show after 20 games or so ... Edwards had to go and he is gone. That alone makes the Bills a better team. Now, we need to fill the gaps and fortunately we are at a point where the number of real problems with the team are a few positions plus depth, which was our ultimate issue this season.
