I just don't get the 'Hate Lee Evans' Club' that seems to permeate the squalid corners around here. Evans was a class act from start to finish. Losman was the only quarterback who truly used Evans' talent to its fullest but as we all know Losman wasn't able to do much else. We all know that Evans was not the receiver that Gailey wanted because it wasn't in his game to get into crossing patterns but if you could get the ball downfield Evans was there. Plus, he never ever blasted Buffalo, the team, or claimed another city was better. It's not his fault we only received a fourth rounder for him but all I can do is wish him well with the only exception being in games against the Bills. It's truly sad that some people have nothing better to do with their lives then try to toss their negative views on life onto someone who has always been positive.

This week will definitely be a challenge but it feels so good to be heading into the game with the Pats at 2-0!! Frankly, I don't think this team will allow a loss to bring them down and living down here in Eagles country I see the Eagles game as very winnable because 'The Birds' are not as good as Young was dreaming about ...

Most Important Games In Bills History
shoretalk replied to cmjoyce113's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes, we need to ROCK THE RALPH ... my brother (Virginia Beach) and I (Atlantic City) will be there in our brand new never worn DH GATE (sorry NFL but these are beauties and arrived in less than a week at 1/5 the price) jersey's! Goodbye the jerseys of the last ten years ... goodbye the hopelessness of 10 years of futile drafting and the lack of leadership wanting to win and HELLO the BUDDY and CHAN YEARS!!! New uniforms have me psyched ... new team has me psyched ... the attitude of the players and Gailey that they can win every week has been missing for way too long. So, if you are going to be at THE RALPH on Sunday be prepared to scream and shout and rock the joint so that the RAIDERS can't hear themselves think and that finally the TWELFTH MAN returns to a meaningful element in the game! GO BILLS!!! -
Pay Fred Jackson Mr Overdoff PLEASE ?
shoretalk replied to Bufcomments's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree that it can be done and I agree that Fred is underpaid but before last season (And, after the Spiller pick.) a contract agreement was reached for four years that apparently satisfied all the parties. It averages out to $2 million/year for Fred. Now, in my lifetime, my wife's lifetime, my brother's lifetime, and his wife's lifetime ... we are not going to earn together $8million. If Fred and his agent wanted more they didn't have to sign the contract. Frankly, I am one of those old school types that believes once a contract is signed it should be honored by all parties. The point of negotiations is to present all the factors in favor of more money and also against more money ... then both sides give and take until there is a satisfactory outcome. In the NFL if a player and agent don't like an offer they can play out the end of their contract until free agency and then go elsewhere. I would bet that Fred and his agent took age into consideration accepting a slightly lower contract fearing that an injury might eliminate a future big pay day. Right now the Bills need to work on Stevie's contract and Fitz's before coming back to Fred for some bonus time! -
Pay Fred Jackson Mr Overdoff PLEASE ?
shoretalk replied to Bufcomments's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
In August of 2010, Fred Jackson of the Buffalo Bills signed a four year extension to play for the BUFFALO BILLS after much public outcry that he was underpaid. The extension pays him in the neighborhood of $2million/year. Now, does he deserve more ... probably ... but the Bills did come through with a contract that Fred and his agent accepted. http://www.buffalonews.com/sports/article167612.ece -
After watching Tom Brady last night I am convinced that he is a robot. Obviously, there is a very limited personality ... he married a plastic woman ... it seems he just spins and throws completions that are in the air for mere seconds ... I really detest BRADY and the PATRIOTS and BELICHICK and am starting to realize that after totally hating the Miami Dolphins most of my life that I really am savoring a victory or two over the Pats more than the Dolphins. Maybe it is because the Dolphins have made themselves meaningless (They have no fan base, their team has sucked almost as badly as we have, and Bills' players don't seem to sense a big rivalry with them.). So, my question is ... what team do you feel is now the BILLS' biggest rival? The team you hate and love to see lose games? Is it still the DOLPHINS (SQUISH THE FISH) or has it become the PATRIOTS? Or the JETS? Or some non-division team?

Fitzpatrick #1 in Week 1
shoretalk replied to DisplacedBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Under the old or the new system it was not just yards and Fitz was amazing on Sunday. Gunslinger mentality, leadership skills, ... what it takes to win (And, yes he will throw interceptions along the way but what a great start and one that was better than Rogers and Brady but Brady is a robot.). -
I agree ... on the one long Charles run our DE (Edwards?) lost the edge due to an excellent block and I think Merriman was not on the field for the play. Right now I can't remember the other long run but to otherwise hold a top running team to less than 4 yards a carry is what you want to happen. Two long meaningless rushes with containment the rest of the game I'll take every time. And, I think Dareus may have had some first game jitters because he wasn't quite as aggressive as in the preseason. All I can say is a BILLS' BLOW out with the opponent held to a touchdown ... that's championship play (At least for this week.). Frankly, I can't believe anyone is ripping the Bills today ... unless they are trolls because the national media when not saying how bad Kansas City played is talking about how good the Bills D was.

Source: McGee's injury "may be bad"
shoretalk replied to Dorkington's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Now why in the world would we waste a draft pick on Aaron Williams??? We have enough DB's .... Like many on this board, I am a huge McGee fan but to hear that it's something with the leg again is not a good sign. What I feel good about is that Williams is going to be a really good player who fits into the aggressive winning Buddy team. If we stay healthy up front and continue to apply pressure he'll have time to learn the game and yes he will make mistakes but he will learn ... -
Right on ...

steve johnson talks moving slow
shoretalk replied to cmjoyce113's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Frankly, unlike many on here, I do not live in the land of constant nightmarish mirages. The panic some are allowing to occupy their time because two sides are at the initial stages of negotiations for a future contract is not worthy of a moment's consideration. Yes, we all know that Johnson will not accept a contract that is for less than his value in the NFL but I do believe that he will accept a offer from the Bills' that is appropriate for a wide-out with his level of production last year and more than likely over the first half of this season even if it means the contract is for less than what he might get in free agency. Some players do have team and community loyalty, just imagine what Kyle Williams would have been able to receive if he had gone to free agency. So, I am going to return to the land of optimism and positive thought process because I would certainly hate to spend my days and nights being totally pessimistic about things I care about and negative about the individuals who cross my path. -
steve johnson talks moving slow
shoretalk replied to cmjoyce113's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Does anyone recall that either side expected a done contract by Week One of thie season?? Frankly, I thought we wouldn't have Williams signed this quickly. If Stevie isn't extended by playoff time I'd be worried but right now it is time for some football!! Johnson has never threatened to walk and since he is so psyched about the Bills that he bought his own ticket to the uniform unveiling I really think you can sleep peacefully because #13 is going to be a Bill for the next several years. -
Well it's clear SCHLEP and BULL must be busy planning their lists for the fall .... thank goodness for Sirius/XM and ESPN radio or now that I have discovered Rochester actually has an excellent afternoon sports program I do not have to listen to the BS guys when I am here in NJ. Frankly to suggest that the entire NFL would laugh at a coach who expects his team to find a way to win each week is to suggest that the NFL expects their coaches to concede games and/or the season before it starts. I want my team's head coach to challenge and inspire his team each week by being the number one believer in their ability to win every single game! As a fan and someone who has experienced the reality that on any given Sunday any team can defeat another I am going into each week expecting that these new Buffalo Bills, if they play to potential, can win any Sunday! Anyone criticizing Gailey for stating that HIS BILLS can win every game (such as the two GR idiots) frankly must be dwelling in a cesspool of negativism and again I wonder about their claim to be "fans" of this team. Now, I am not drinking the Kool-Aid and would be thrilled with an 8-8 season but if Gailey said he expects to lose half the games and that the Bills have no chance against the Patriots or Eagles then what kind of leader would he be? Frankly I think the Bills and Eagles game will be a toss up since the Eagles front 7 and offensive line are pedestrian at best. If we stay healthy then there will be surprises along the way as the team continues to be pulled out of the decade of failure into a much better future led by two guys who are all about having a winning football attitude and a consistency on the field. Can't wait for YEAR TWO of the NIX and GAILEY are to get started! Go Bills and start this undefeated season by stuffing the Chiefs this Sunday!

He was a decent safety ... definitely didn't meet the dreams and visions of fans who expected more from a number 8 pick but Donte played hard and was willing to play in a variety of positions for Coach DJ who probably messed up any possibilities that Donte could have produced more than he did. If he had not priced himself out of Buffalo, I think we would have seen him here and with our new front seven we just might have seen more from Donte. All that being said ... I am glad he has moved on because it clears one name from the whiners list here on the board.

[closed]Gailey: "I expect to be undefeated"
shoretalk replied to The Senator's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Frankly to suggest that the entire NFL would laugh at a coach who expects his team to find a way to win each week is to suggest that the NFL expects their coaches to concede games and/or the season before it starts. That comment frankly is laughable and reflective of all too many negative voices who claim they are "fans" of this team. As a fan and someone who has experienced the reality that on any given Sunday any team can defeat another I am going into each week expecting these new Buffalo Bills if they play to potential can win any Sundsy! Troup also was taking up two blockers during the Detroit game and has gained kudo's from most of the people in the know who have been watching the games. After a recent critique of Troup's play in the Detroit game, I went back to the broadcast (Which, I admit does not feature any one player.) and what I saw was an aggressive nose tackle doing what nose tackles are supposed to do. He had push into the backfield; he showed speed; he was agressive; and he got in on a couple of tackles. Nose tackles are not statistic collectors ... if they do their job then the rest of the defense has an easier task. He spent the off season working on improving his strength and it is clear he was successful. I continue to be amazed how segments of this board just hunt down players to attack without any validation for their critique. Rookies rarely star ... professional linemen take several years to develop into the best player they are going to be. To rip apart someone who is just beginning his second season and failing to notice is effectiveness gives us a much clearer idea of the person leveling the critique's competency rather than any true value as a criticism of a player's ability.

Good kid ... good talent ... that ankle injury held him back this preseason but I would much rather have this guy whose hands are like glue on the Bills than on another roster. Plus he is from UB but as Buddy said that doesn't matter.

Am i dumb for buying a fitz jersy?
shoretalk replied to mc kid 78's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I played basketball Monday night in my old Flutie jersey ... all these IGGGLE fans were jealous. FITZ is a good pick of a jersey because he plays the way you want your QB to play! Tough, gunslinger ... might not be a superstar but if I wear someone's number I want it to be a player who gives his all and Fitz does that. Today I gave in to the China route and ordered myself a Dareus jersey! This kid has that same non-stop winning attitude! -

THANKS!!! Great synopsis!!! -
Demetrius Bell - Who in his first real season playing LT committed no major penalties and did a decent job helping Fitz to pass for 3000 yards, Fred to run for almost 1000 yards in 7 games as a starter, and the team to average almost 20 points a game. Did he make mistakes? Yes ... Is he Pro Bowl quality? Not now and maybe never. But, he is as good of an offensive lineman as 3/5's of the DREAM TEAM's line. Kraig Urbik - This 6'5" 2008 ESPN All American selection at guard had a poor first preseason game but then again there were not FTA's. He has won the praises of his coach and looked pretty good with the first team during the last three preseason games. He's young but if we look back on the offensive linemen we wish we had ... most had to start off with no experience and grow in their ability to play the game. Eric Pears - He is 6'8" and has looked like he belongs in the NFL at RT. Yes, he too is an unknown ... guess during the next three or four weeks we will discover whether he can play. So, since you are worrying who are LT, RG, and RT are I thought I'd introduce them to you. The Eagles are starting two rookies plus they have moved a guard to tackle so it is not unusual in the NFL even among the so called elite teams to find offensive lines coming out of the preseason that lead to many questions ... plus their left tackle was a free agent overweight tight end out of Arkansas so who can imagine him as a LT. We have lived too many years without a GM and coach ... we finally have two that want to win. I am giving them a chance and if this OL works we will have a good one for many years! The coaches made the right decision to dump Trent and Green basically admitting their mistake from preseason. So, in my opinion that shows that they aren't going to keep playing guys who aren't going to win for them. As for Spiller, Lynch was the primary back in the beginning of the season and if I am not mistaken Fred Jackson was our go to guy for most of the year accumultating nearly 1000 yards. Not sure where your thing with Chris Ellis is coming from because I don't remember him ever playing a significant role ... but then again I haven't had my morning coffee ... maybe Chan had him starting and playing all three DL positions while the other guys just sat on the bench .... but if I recall right he was cut midseason too.

JONES in a REAL GAME You sure seem to dislike a lot of the Bill's players. Perhaps your name fits. Perhaps was it this play that caused you to dislike Jones so much? You do realize that as an undrafted rookie he didn't get a lot of rep's at wideout ... At least we agree on what a healthy Roscoe in the slot can do!

Aaron Maybin watch... Gets Cut Again
shoretalk replied to eball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The New York Jets have just released a versatile TOP TEN FIRST ROUND PICK from the 2009 Draft. This phenom played at a major university where he just lit up the statistical data banks ... he apparently is all muscle with some extra special speed. Although there is some debate as to the exact position he can play because he weighs in at about 230 ... a speed pass rusher from the OLB or perhaps even a SS ... Buddy ... get on the wire and pick up Mr. Maybin because he is available probably at a price well below what the team picking him #1 in the draft paid initially ... oh wait a second it was the BILLS. Darn, I had put Aaron out of mind but here's a chance to give him another opportunity.
