Would You Take 8-8 or 3-13 and the #1 Pick in '12?
shoretalk replied to jwhit34's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It is truly remarkable just how many board members are salivating at the thought of a totally complete collapse of the Bills so that we lose them all. I would think that true fans can't wait to see how we progress from last year ... Fitz having an entire season plus offseason as #1 (our receivers are out in AZ working out with him), our O-Line maturing, a plan for Spiller, a quality group of wide-outs, and now a new defense with a defensive minded coach matching Gailey's offensive abilities. Some people just like the label LOSER ... and are probably anxiously awaiting the start of their 4pm GR show. -
Vikes reach staduim deal w/Ramsey County
shoretalk replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So ... Are they cutting education? Are their police and fire departments depleted? Are the roadways filled with potholes? And, are the taxpayers there screaming about the cost of government? So, for giving in to corporate blackmail ... to billionaire bosses who want their rings kissed ... for 8 real football games a year ... at a cost to taxpayers of more than $2 million dollars per game (a 20 year stadium life) plus roadway development ... The people of Minnesota will be able to pay more than $100 per person per game ... And, to think the players and owners are kicking and screaming over who gets the bonus millions while we keep paying more and more ... I had hoped we were at the end of communities and states financing stadiums but an awful example is being established by thus decision (perhaps the Vikings had photo's) -
It is clear that the NFL didn't come as easy to CJ as he thought it would. Dre is right, CJ had that awful habit of reversing field in an attempt to find more open space rather than just going forward. Dre is right, no excuses ... time for coach and player to figure out where his talents fit the team. However, I think he has the talent and Chan has been thinking since the season ended of how to get things right for Spiller's abilities. Jackson is the primary RB but if we use Spiller like we have used Roscoe it adds a new dimension for both coverage units and those attempting to stop the run. I want to see some plays broken up field by Spiller ... the combined yards will be there with kick-off's but we can't wait another year to see if he is a weapon and my prediction is that his jersey sales will be increasing by mid-season as he figures out the NFL. GO BILLS ....

Leadership, Leadership and more Leadership
shoretalk replied to Pilsner's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What a great and accurate post about the football philosophy of Buddy Nix and Chan! Obviously, we cannot turn perennial sad sack losers into winners overnight but they are building a team we call can be proud of. These young men are overwhelmingly intelligent, they are leaders, they have non-stop motors, and they share a desire to succeed. As for the Marv reflection ... Marv knew the quality of players he wanted and Polian knew how to get them for him. Marv is a Hall of Fame coach and motivator but as a general manager we will never know for sure whether he is all too blame for his draft failures or whether Ralph, Russ or the coaches did him in (or even Modrak and his scouts). But, looking at these last two drafts (And, eternal optimist that I am I still have hope for CJ) I am feeling really good about the team we are building ... just imagine if Jasper is the real thing!! -
Would You Take 8-8 or 3-13 and the #1 Pick in '12?
shoretalk replied to jwhit34's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No fan should ever want their team to go backwards just to get a speculated draft pick who might never make it in the pro's. Buddy and Chan are developing a nasty, character based team and losing more games would be a major step backward in the young players' development. So, there is no way I'd every hope for a losing season ... if I wanted the Bills to be perennial losers (like they were for the first decade of this century) then I'd be a Dolphins, Jets, or Patriots fan. True Bills' fans want their team to win as many games as possible and at the end of the season let the results have whatever impact they might but to sit here in May and say you want them to win only 3 games ... you are not a fan! -
Talk about a guy with a motor ... if our LB corps is healthy this coming year I can see Poz sitting on the bench with Merriman, Batten, Sheppard, and Moats. Poz has never shown a willingness to be the fired up attack dog linebacker in the middle that we need plus he can't cover a tight end nor a running back coming out of the backfield. His talent is in chasing down those who have gone by him. It does seem that Buddy and crew have been paying attention these last two drafts and hopefully this year we will get the benefits from a new style of Bills defensive player who is not about bending upfield like Poz but instead on the attack to push back and stop them in their tracks.

Radio interview with Aaron Williams
shoretalk replied to NickMendola's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
THANKS Nick!!! Please do all that you can to insure that there is an 'all sports' choice for afternoon radio listening in Buffalo. The whiney list makes who are also on the air just disappoint when it comes time to talk sports (they don't even watch the games they need to be watching nor do their sports' homework.). -
No NO NO NO NO NO ... a THOUSAND TIMES NO ... Why in the world would we want a selfish show-off ... think about this ... Stevie Johnson Lee Evans Roscoe Parrish Marcus Easley David Nelson Naaman Roosevelt Donald Jones and Felton Huggins too ... I think we have a really good receiver corps with the youth only destined to get better. Ocho Cinco's presence would only slow the development of a receiver who already is in synch with Fitz. So ... go back to dreaming of Jimmy Clausen's value to the team ....

And, your intent in posting this? I have vomited in public places because of being ill during my life. Of course I am not a public figure where our insane need to be looking for the wrong in others could have implied I was drinking too much or something else. It's funny ... always wondered why anyone has a need to buy the National Enquirer, subscribe to e-mail services like deadspin, or listen to the hate-mongers. Perhaps they have no life of their own and want to celebrate what's wrong in others. It's sad but it's the reality we have today in our world as evident by this posting on what was meant to be a positive story about a Hall of Fame player who has chosen to stay in Buffalo and who boosts a community most of us truly care about.

This is the most irresponsible and totally stupid posting of draft forecasting yet ... First, once again the anti-Bills' Bills' fans who just can't seem to hold any optimism in their lives somehow think we will sink backwards even though we have improved our defense just through the additions of the draft. Not having Claussen ooops Newton really makes you think we will lose all of our 2011 games (it these is a season)? This past year if we had stopped the run a little better ... if Stevie had caught one touchdown pass ... if Fitz had been at the helm right from the start ... and if we covered tight ends a bit better we would have had a reasonably better record, which would have cost us Dareus. I am not so optimistic to be predicting a Super Bowl but I am seeing the Bills as a team with an improved record so we are out of luck when it comes to LUCK and you have given me another reason not to pay money to a publication whose only interesting issue is fashion oriented.

Any interest in trading for Flynn or Clausen?
shoretalk replied to Maddog69's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If I read your initial posting you asked if any of us thought we should trade for little jimmy ... My note of the love affair with Claussen had nothing to do with you but with the many posters last year who were screaming first that we should take Claussen and then what an awful mistake that we didn't ... He was a spoiled brat kid who made it to ND but doesn't have the skill set to make it in the pro's ... and likewise Flynn is not worth giving up anything. If either of these guys are out there on the free agent market at minimum salary levels they might be worth looking at but there is no way we should give up anything ... I agree with the other poster, you'd have to give the Bills something to take Claussen off Carolina's hands. -
Not a choice I'd want to pursue ... and certainly hope it's not one the Bills want ... and I don't think Palmer wants to ride the bench behind Fitz and that's all the Bills would offer because they are not about to start a QB competition for the starting job this summer. They do not want any controversy, it's FITZ in 2011 ... any vet will be the type willing to be a back up only.

USA Today Report: Bills would have traded
shoretalk replied to San Jose Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Wow ... are Jim Miller and Buddy and Chan drinking buddies? Just where in the world does Mr. Speculation Miller claim any inside information? I just don't see our guys trading up in the draft ... we might have picked Ponder if he was there when it was our pick but Buddy has been pretty clear about not believing in moving around in the draft ... the Bills have paid too high a price in the past for it and I can't imagine him wanting to risk a comparison to the Losman fiasco. -
Thanks for the link ... It is good to know that Buffalo actually has a radio station that gets quality sports' interviews and "breaks news." I am sure there were many Bills' fans who were sure Whitner was coming back but Buddy cleared that one up quickly. Frank and honest answers from Nix were impressive especially about players who he would have liked to pick up. There appears to be a solid plan in the work for the Bills and I feel good with these two old Southern boys leading the charge (And, Whaley is going to be a good GM too!)! Nix

I caught two games last year where he truly did look beast-like. Definitely on my list to pick up because it's time we have guys with fire in their bellies in the middle rather than looking pretty like Poz.

So we just drafted 3 DB's and not a single player
shoretalk replied to BLZFAN4LIFE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You must be one of those people who wakes up with a smile ... greets everyone with a 'have a good day' ... gives money to those in need ... and enjoys every moment of life .... NOT!!!! Well, I am sure you're impressed with yourself ... the funny thing is most fans are impressed with the majority of our draft ... -
What would you give up to get Luck in next years draft
shoretalk replied to jkx2's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Jimmy Clausen is going to be a superstar as soon as he steps on an NFL field ... we have to draft him. He is the next combination of Brady-Manning-Namath-Unitas-Bradshaw all in one amazing SUPER STAR ... if the Bills let him pass by in the draft then some other team will be on its way to the SUPER BOWL with a quarterback guaranteed to succeed ... look at how he played for the Fighting Irish ... we just have to draft him ... instant home run!!! If that stupid Modrak doesn't figure out that Claussen is the answer we will be left watching Claussen lead some other team to SUPER BOWL 2011 ... I just know it ... it's a fact ... he is THE PERFECT QUARTERBACK ... I'd trade our next 3 first rounders to get him!!!! I guess we had some quarterback dreamers last year who got it wrong ... and maybe, just maybe ... Mr. Luck will be just like Mr. Claussen (although, I am laughing that some on this board are suggesting we trade some future draft picks to get Claussen now that he has failed with Carolina ...). So many college star quarterbacks drafted early never make it. Let's see how he does in 2011 and more importantly, let's see how are Bills do now that we have some players who might stop the run and cover tight ends. We just might be able to put up some wins that get us to the playoffs ... -
It seems like the tweeting epidemic has hit the Bills' defensive backfield. Both Florence and Whitner need to chill a bit if they really have any aspirations of remaining with the Bills. Florence for the most part has been a decent CB and has made some key plays during his tenure with the team. His age, his tweets, and the price of keeping him in addition to the new talent we are bringing in will probably send him on his way to another team. Whitner's very public statements about what he deserves to be paid was the wrong strategy of trying to stay with the Bills (it may have worked with BRUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCE but Donte is no Bruce Smith). In addition some of his public whining has hurt but in the end he will find another starting job if he leaves the Bills. He is not as bad as some on this board make him out to be. He just wasn't worthy of where we selected him in the draft but that has never been his fault and he has been a Bills and Buffalo booster throughout his time here. Ayoldele has just been too quiet during his moments on the field and he is too old to worthy taking a roster spot away from one of our new "tough" young players. More than likely we will be working again by mid-autumn when injuries in the league start to mount. He is serviceable but not a front line player.

It's pretty embarrassing, reading this board sometimes...
shoretalk replied to eball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You are right on but as I read your posting it reminded me of the world of politics in America .... how groups of loud mouthed activists stormed meetings held by Congressmen and Senators around our great nation to demand their views on health insurance be accepted but they refuse to even consider that those who differ from them have an equally valid point of view that should then be open to constructive discussion. We are living in an era when bullying has been made acceptable whether it is on our radio airwaves, in our classrooms, in our politics, or here on this discussion board. I love hearing reasoned arguments about the Bills because they are the team I have rooted for since a game in 1962 versus the Dallas Texans at the Rock Pile. I know that I am not always correct in what I think so this board has given me tremendous insight but the stupidity and harshness of some really makes me wonder if the authors are really Miami Dolphin fans getting a good laugh at the trouble they stir up here. -

shoretalk replied to Maddog69's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Promo, once again you are right on!! To me it is baffling the love affair that so many on this board have for Claussen. He wasn't ready for Prime Time last year when the GR Whiners wanted him and he still isn't. To trade away something the Bills have for someone who is not that good makes absolutely no sense ... If they cut Jimmy Boy, which is a possibility given his spoiled little boy attitude, then perhaps at a minimum salary he might be worth a look. -
the stupid owners ... they could have waited to reinstate the lock-out but nooooooooooooooooooo they want to stomp their feet like the little boys with toys that they are ...
-
Kelsey is definitely back on the D line as a back-up if he makes the team. Also, you can't deny Moats a starting slot over Torbor. I think we are going to see some interesting battles in the middle with Poz' history of injuries and never being in the face of runners impacting his possible loss of starter's status.

We have a Franchise QB Emergency!! STAT!
shoretalk replied to RichardBag's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
right on! This team is starting to look better and better ... let's see how the young guys on the OL move forward with another year under their belts. I do not recall Bell looking like a "rookie," which he basically was ... FITZ did not get blindsided every other play because of poor OL play. And, the group at RG/RT just might hold the answer. FITZ on to the playoff's ... got to love him gathering the wideout's down in AZ to get ready for the seasosn! -

Now I understand why you have the Dr. Who icon .... you have been in another dimension because this draft is all about stopping the run! And, we have the players who can do it. GREAT DRAFT Buddy!!! That Jasper kid is a WOW ... someone needs to find some game tape! -
Let's see ... an instant analysis of CBS Sports.com grades ... D-. How can you give a B+ grade to the easiest draft pick of the first round. The Bills needed a monster on the DL ... Cam Newton was gone as was 'lay down on tough plays' Miller ... leaving us the best pick of the day a clear A+. The final grade of any draft comes in another year or two after everyone has had a chance to play but I am crossing CBS Sports off my list as a "trusted" source.
