  1. M. Williams should try becoming Ted Washington part two, he just cant keep the weight down, and you cant move at that weight, so T is out of the question. He could become a human boulder however...
  2. I cant wait for the whites to come out, I will be ordering one once our chinese friends start producing them! What I really want to know, is when will the Bills go old school permenantly. I have yet to meet a fan who likes the current uni's better than the throwbacks.
  3. Now for my draft with trades and all, again not using hindsight: *Trade the 75th used in the Levitre trade, couple it with 28, and move up to draft Oher *Trade up to aquire Jamon Meridith with 6, 7 and whatever ele it takes from 2010 1- Orakpo 1- Oher 2- E. Brown 4- S. Nelson 4- Duke Robinson 5- Nic Harris 5- Jamon Merideth. Again, who will have the better draft?
  4. Predicting trades is hard in the early rounds, but in the late rounds I think they are easier and easier to pull off. I will not use hindsight in my draft. Niether the Bills nor I have a time machine, so there is no way to knwo who will be there o so many rounds later. When the Bills selections came up, these are the players whose names I was yelling at the TV. In 5 years I wonder who would have had the better draft: 1- Orakpo 1- Wood (best O lineman) 2- E. Brown 2- Levitre (best O lineman) 4- Nelson 5- Nic Harris These next picks I would have figured out how to get. I wanted Harris at 5 the most, but would have been fine if the Bills selected either of these two instead. Right after Harris was selected, I came on TSW and posted on how we have to move up for these two guys. Trading the rest of our picks in this draft, players, or next years picks I would have gotten it done. 5- Jamon Meredith 5- Duke Robinson
  5. Owens is at the same level as Reed, but Lynch is not as good as Thurman, and Edwards is a DISTANT 3rd to Kelly and even Frank Reich. We have a rookie TE where in '91 we had some seasoned vets. The line is also a huge ? and not the dominant unit the 91 Bills could bank on. Throw the huge coaching drop off from then to now and I say the 09 offense couldnt even hold the 91's jock strap. Sorry to disagree.
  6. You are correct. There is a rule stating teams can only wear an alternate jersey style 2 times per year (regular season). I believe this year it is different as all of the original AFL teams can wear their throwbacks as part of the 50th anniversery of the AFL.
  7. The thing with Harris is he plays "right on the edge" What I mean is there is a very fine line between a good legal hard hit in bounds and a late hit out of bounds. Harris is always looking to dominate someone and gets a little greedy at times. His reputation alone drew him a few flags IMO. But the point is one or two flags are not really a bad thing because you want to be right on that edge, and if you are playing close enough to that edge, you will be getting called once in a while. Think of it like this -- is it better for an O lineman to never be called for a holding penalty, or to be called 2-3 times per year and be a much better blocker on the other 10,000 flag-free snaps of his career? Same thing goes for QBs. Flutie used to say all the time that he is scared of QBs who throw too few ints. He says that a QB with no ints takes no chances, chances he should be taking. Sometimes those chances lead to a pick or two, but could also lead to 10 TDs, and thats a good trade.
  8. I admire their attempt to win now, but we have no chance at winning now. Also that logic is flawed as Maybin is a much bigger project guy than Orakpo was. If they really wanted to get results from a rookie DE it would have been Orakpo.
  9. There is a reason Carolina traded next years first rounder for Brown. There is also a reason as to why Maybin couldn't break into the starting lineup as a RS Soph until the guy infront of him was suspended. I am willing to bet the Penn St coaching staff knows something that we, and the Bills, may not. On third downs Brown would start as a pure pass rusher, are you assuming the Byrd will start? They are rookies, but in three years I would have loved to have Maybin and Brown at the two ends a lot more than Maybin and some safety. PS Maybin was a top 10 prospect in the eyes of a few ESPN draft figure heads and the Bills, but not in many NFL teams opinions.
  10. I agree that Scott looked really good agaisnt the run in the past, but I dont think you will see him unseat Whitner. That may be solely because he was the 8th overall pick. Hopefully our front 7 can be good enough to stop the run without a safety in the box, but probably not.
  11. No, I am saying that the Bills would have been better off drafting E. Brown over D. Byrd with the 42nd pick, and leaving the incumbant starter at the other position. The drafting of Brown would have replaced Kelsay, but G. Wilson would still be a starter at FS. I feel that would have been a better option than drafting Byrd to replace Wilson and leaving Kelsay as a starter. DL is always more important than DB in my opinion. Clearly DJ disagrees, but he does not have the record to prove his theory works.... PS I miss Jim Leonard
  12. We will see with Byrd, but something tells me a combo of E. Brown and G. Wilson would have been a better combo than Kelsay and Byrd....
  13. Bruce enough said.
  14. Works for me, although I would keep Denney because we need some more DE's than just Maybin Peppers and Ellis. Maybe a 2nd or 3rd rd pick in 2010 plus Schoebel for Peppers? Just cut Kelsay. Panthers wont do it but I like to dream
  15. Schobel has proved that he can play at 240 as evidenced by his years of production. Maybin had one good year in college, at 220. Since Maybin added weight simpley to increase his draft stock, and has never played a football game anywhere near the weight he is at now, I am afraid of what may happen. On the other side, that extra muscle could make him even more dominant. Time will tell.
  16. The Patriots fill their holes before creating more. The Pats would have traded Peters, but they would have his replacement on the roster before the trade. They resign players they need, let walk players they dont. The Bills routinely let players who they need desperately, leave.
  17. I like the Cullen Harper pick up. Very accurate, quick decision QB. Of all the names I saw he is the most likely to make the roster IMO. I like Hamden and all, but I really believe that the 3rd QB spot should be reserved for a late round rookie/young QB project that the team is developing to be a starter. As soon as the team realises he is not going to be a quality starter you cut bait and try again. That is how Hasselback, Brady, Cassel, Bulger, and even Warner got their chance. Even if the guy never is a starter for Buffalo, to trade a UDFA for a 1st or 2nd round pick. Hamden has is an older career third stringer. Harper has a lot better chance of becoming a starting QB than Hamden does at this point.
  18. Just thought some of you might be interested in seeing him in action. I have not seen the kid play and am interested in seeing him in action, thought you may be too. #32 Purdue had an 80 yrd TD run on their first drive. Byrd had contain and took on a low block. Not his fault but not the best way to take on a block as a safety.
  19. Maybe he can make some us some samiches
  20. Makes sense to me, that is when Trent is at his best. Trent really seems to turn it on whenever we run the two minute o, so I hope to see the K Gun back in action. I remember Trent did run some no huddle in his first NFL game vrs the Pats, so he deff can handle the pressure.
  21. DJ is still the coach of this team. No roster improvement can compensate for that. Factor in our MUCH tougher schedule and going 7-9 would be an improvement over last year. How much better this team really is will be noticeable in 2-3 years when we have two PB caliber interior O Lineman, dominant running game, solid QB, two good young and big WRs, and hopefully a dominant pass rusher on the edge. Throw in a winning coach and the Bills will have finally made the playoffs after a 12 year hiatus.
  22. Quote: "Nic Harris, 4.6% body fat"
  23. I dont think you read my post the way I intended it to sound. In 04 the Bills traded up to take a QB, and gave up a lot to do it. I saw Big Ben play and new he was a stud. I really wanted to Bills to take him. Maybe the Bills tried to do this and couldnt, but I would have traded up to select Ben, not Losman. Clearly the Bills liked Losman to trade up for him, but he sucked. I never would have traded anything for Losman. Similar situation with Poz (although he doesnt suck). If you are giving up picks to take a LB, get Willis over Poz. Once we couldnt get Willis, I was hoping Poz came to the Bills. Some years I would have drafted the same player the Bills did. Ironically those years the picks panned out. The years they havent panned out, I did not want to the Bills to select the player they did. I never would have picked McGahee, or any RB for that matter. But if I was going to take a RB at that pick, I would have taken Larry Johnson. He is a much better back than McGahee ever was. Point is since 2002 I have not wanted the Bills to take a single player who has busted or been a let down (leaving the last two drafts out because they have not played enough to grade) I would have selected DRC over McKelvin and Orakpo over Maybin. McKelvin has shown he will be very good, but the jury is still out, and we will see if he is better than DRC. Hopefully these situations do not have the same results as they have in the past, ie the Bills picking M.Williams over McKinnie -- that is passing on a better player at the same position.
  24. Dickie boy hasnt been successful with ANY roster he has ever had. He lost us 3-4 games each of the last two seasons on his dumb coaching decisions. He could have went 7-9 with the Steelers this past season. Football relies on coaching more than any other sport, and as long as we have a loser like DJ in charge it does not matter who is on our roster.
  25. Call him a troll but he makes valid points. Saying McShay and Kiper rated the kid as the best pass rushing end doesnt make him the consensus best rushing end. There is a reason all of those guys dont have jobs for real NFL teams. I take Mayocks word over those twos and Mayock was scared of him the same way I am. I will eat crow if he is better than Orakpo, but what will the Bills excuse be if he is not? I am concerned because we passed on having Orakpo, then passed on having Maybin and Brown. This seems to happen every year (the Bills take one position, but the wrong guy IMO). History has shown that I have been a better scout than the Bills. Evidence 2002: Bills pick- M.Williams My pick- B. McKinnie 2003: Bills pick- Willi McGahee My pick- Not Willis McGahee 2004: Bills pick- Losman My pick- Who is Losman? (I REALLY wanted Roethelisburger but he didnt fall, shoulda traded up from 13 to get him instead of trading to get Losman.) 2005: Bills pick- No pick 2006: Bills pick- Whitner/McCargo My pick- Ngata 2007: Bills pick- Lynch/Poz My pick- I would have traded up to get P.Willis, not Poz, but did want Lynch once Willis was gone. 2008: Bills pick- McKelvin My pick- DRC 2009: Bills pick- Maybin My pick- Orakpo I am not tooting my own horn here, most viewers on this board share/shared similar opinions on these players at that time. I think I must have more confidence in Chambers than any other member on this board. I think he will be our starter at LT for the whole year. He wont be great but he will be solid. I do wish we got Oher but I cannot complain with wood or levitre as they may be better picks when you take our whole roster into account.
